The staff are always super friendly and kind here. The used to be lakemont dentistry but they moved and have since changed the name to winter park dentistry. I recognize most of the staff but there are some new ones here. All of them are friendly though. They are gentle and ask if you feel any pain throughout the processes. They recommend different care and have treatment plans. They go over the plans well and they also take time to go over any questions. It never feels rushed even when they have a lot going on but I also don't ask tons of questions so not sure. lol bbbuuuttt they have been great here so I'll continue coming for myself and my family. read more

Frankly, I didn't know what to expectnon my first visit though thecl reviews were great. I was greeted and hosted to my chair promptly. Zada took some X-rays, then Dr. Cowan came. She explained every step, examined, put the X-ray results on the screen and walked me thru. I was impressed. Then Julie came to take me to another chair where she did the cleaning. She also explained clearly to me her procedures as well as referral for a perio evaluation. Dental office is like a part of our family. Due to poor sonic X-rays .. they rescheduled me to have them retaken; the office staff were prompt in scheduling the " retake " .. appointment. It was quick and seamless . Said I needed crown, office said insurance approved. First crown did not fit so put temporary back in and said replacement would be a few weeks. Did not hear back, called the office and was told received but could not find and would call me. Did not hear back. Called again and they said found, went in an crown put in. Several months later got notice insurance denied, even though staff said was approved. When asked why would not answer except insurance always denies. Talked to my insurance dental review team and they said the tooth was cracked from xrays but only needed to be filled, not a crown. Office manager staff said the dentist thought needed crown so I had to pay about $1,200. Asked to speak to the dentist, said was to busy, requested a call and never received. I put this same information in a letter and took to the office an gave staff to give to the dentist and asked again for a call. Never called or responded. The next cleaning the dentist never came in to check, whick they did pr prior clea ing, first time in years with several dentists one did not come in, but hygienist tried to sell products. Asked why she did not come in and was told again dentist was busy. Would NOT recomend since based on my research with the dental review team at my insurance company and the lack of response from the dental office, I have a crown I did not need and paid a lot of money. It is wrong to tell a patient insurance approved a service and do the work and months later get a denial. Would assume never provided information for the claim yo be reviewed. Just did the crown. Also, no contact from the dental office which makes me think they know the crown was not needed. read more

Setting expectations clearly and showing care to patient concerns or fears is essential in any health care system. I went to this dentist and due to my experiences and unanswered or addressed concerns, I don't feel safe returning. This is problematic because due to an error during what was to be my service completion, I am still left without a permanent and finished service and have been unable to function withojt fear of hurt her damage. This was my first procedure with that that unfolded into two visits and a final personal follow up to secure documents showing that myself and my insurance assumed a bill and began requisition for full payment. To the date the doctor now her staff not United Health care have followed up and I have been in this position nor for what will be 8 weeks as of this coming Monday April 21,2025. Be wary of people who equivocate their mistakes with common misfortune. This dentist is billing patients for work that does not need to be done and is lying about the work that is necessary. They told my son had 11 cavities. They filled five of them one visit and was going to fill the other six the next visit. But I asked to speak to the dentist three times about the other six cavities in the several thousand dollars was going to cost me and the dentist refused to call me back because they were too busy. I think decided to move our business to a different dentist in town and then Dee told me that my son didn't have six more cavities filled. He only had two would save me several thousand dollars. Nely kept me on a waiting list and called me immediately to schedule an appointment- which was weeks before my original new patient appointment. Dr. Alvarez is friendly, extremely knowledgable and produces great results. Luis has a bedside manner of mastery. This is greatly appreciated when I had appointments lasting 1.5 hours or longer.
