Doctors and nurses are 5-Star, but the assistant /receptionist in the front may need to find a new job, because it appears she does not care about the clients. My wife's prescription wasn't called into the pharmacy, and Catalina, (or whatever her name is), seemed to have no ability or desire to confirm if the prescription was ever called in, nor offer a solution. Finally she gave my wife the doctor's cell phone number to call to confirm the prescription wasn't called in, as my wife waited patiently at CVS for the pick up. Be prepared to pay a very high price for services, which are worth it when you expect it, but make sure you get a price breakdown first. Deep cleaning was over $2,000 out of pocket just for the anesthesia with insurance, and that's not including the cleaning. Understandable, but might be nice to be informed this beforehand. (Now curious if any additional cost outside of our Insurance will come up for this cleaning...) Brunette at the front again had no personality on our next visit, and when I asked her for a price breakdown of services, (or even what I've paid already between my two visits), she even refused to look when I asked he inside the dentist office?!? Refused... * Another lady working in the office overheard my request, and came over to find a solution for me. Brunette working the front seems miserable and has no etiquette when it comes to customer service. Please have her take a vacation to help her cheer up, or find another job. Then maybe you'll be a 5-star office again. Thanks for the ones who are working there that are actually kind & professional at this office. After many years of not going to the dentist, I took a chance and went to see Dr. Hodgins. My blood pressure was near red lining and I was nervous as hell. Yes, I just have to keep updating about the fact Dr. Hodgins is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Another root canal and crown for me again yesterday without a hitch. I had to have an injection in my upper palate (those are the worst and most painful, people, believe me) and I informed him before he did it that for the next minute or so he would be my least favorite person in the world. LOL So I grabbed the arms of the chair and tensed my body for the pain I knew was coming... but wait... that was it... no mind blowing pain... you finished that fast and I barely felt a thing?!! WOW! Sitting there stunned, all I could mumble out was, "You really are good!" And he is!! A pain free upper palate injection... I bow down to you Dr. Hodgins! Dawn, my assistant for the day (again), was awesome as usual! Always making me feel completely comfortable and relaxed. The entire staff also did an excellent job with my husband. Before my dental procedure got underway, Dr. Hodgins extracted a tooth for him. What was to be a simple extraction turned into a surgical extraction because my husband has the jaws of a boxer. He tells me Dr. Hodgins was wonderful throughout the entire process... constantly asking him if he was ok and making sure he was as comfortable as possible. After my husband's extraction, he came to sit in the room with me while I had my procedure and this is where I cannot give enough thanks to the entire staff. As my procedure went on, my husband began getting sick. It had nothing to do with his extraction, he was coming down with something because when I finally got him home his temp was 102. Dawn looked over at him while they were working on me and noticed he was shaking and white as a ghost. They stopped work on me and got him into another room in a chair where he could lie down. Dr. Hodgins began monitoring his vitals while the rest of the staff grabbed blankets and anything else they could to make him comfortable. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone for taking such good care of him and going above and beyond to meet his needs until my procedure was finished. When we were ready to leave, as usual, Dr. Hodgins make sure I had his personal cell number and told me to call if I needed anything at all. I also received a phone call from Dr. Hodgins today to check on both hubby and me. He again told me not to hesitate to call him on his cell if either of us needed anything! read more

I have been going to see Dr. Hodgins at the dentist studio for at least 8 years. His office is very modern and doesn't have the normal dentist smell and feel. To help make you more comfortable they have neck pillows (which can be scented), noise cancelling headphone, tv's at each station, etc. Dawn is, like, 2nd in command there and she is awesome. I lo-lo-love her! I'm glad whenever I get her! She and Karen have both been there forever and are both wonderful! The front desk help was great years ago (Erika, the doctors sister or sister-in-law) and then it took a dive for a while. There were a few teenieboppers who were very rude and talked badly about patients (funnily enough the patient they were bad mouthing was my mother and they had no idea until I put them back in their place). The past few times there have been two other young ladies who were both very nice and helpful. I've referred my entire family and several friends to Dr. H and all have been very happy. read more

Had a crown done.. the experience was not the best. I was not explained up front that I would be under regular anesthesia, which doesn't work for me - something which I mentioned countless times to this dentist. He numbed my mouth up so much that I lost sensation all the way up to my nose.. but still felt the work he was doing on my tooth -HORRIBLE! After a lot of trouble and jerking my head whenever the dentist tried doing the grinding down, I had to reschedule so I had to be put under to complete the work - and it was an additional charge which if I'd known about in the beginning would have made me return to my previous dentist who did an awesome job. Days later when the crown was being put in, the assistant just couldn't get the bite correct no matter how often she ground down the crown. I finally went some time later to my previous dentist and am never going back to this establishment. read more

Okay, I don't think I have met more than three people who enjoy going to the dentist. Everyone usually hates it and sees it as a chore. I actually have anxiety about the dentist so when I knew I was searching for a new one and read the Yelp reviews on here I was actually looking forward to trying them out. Now of course it took an emergency to get me to go in but I could not have had a more pleasant experience. I called Monday morning 15 before they opened and someone answered! I had broken a tooth the night before and fought the pain all night. Not only did I not have an appointment that day but I was also a new patient... They didn't care, they made themselves available! I was in there by 10:30am! Now, when you fill out paperwork here, the dentist actually reads it, woohoo!!! The dentist also sits in the main office w his staff, I thought that was special. You can hear him answer phones and questions! Very hands on. The X-rays were complimentary because I mentioned yelp! Don't forget to do that. There are 3 types of X-rays here and they are top notch. First, every employee is so nice! They really go above and beyond to welcome you, inform you and be available. The office is extremely warm, clean and high tech. For the x-rays, you can view them on the TV while you are in the chair and they will walk you through them. When the dentist comes in he actually takes time to talk with you and understand your history and what your needs are for your visit. While he walks through your X-rays and gum notes, he chats w you about it so you are not in the dark. Also, with the crazy news coming out and dentists scamming you for every penny... At the Dentist Studio, they only do what you need to do. I was told I needed my entire right side of fillings redone two years ago from my previous dentist and here I was told it was just one certain one. We went ahead and fixed it and what do you know, all better! On my first trip I also got a temporary cap and my gum operated on. They were super aware of my stress and made every effort to make me comfortable. They even offer warm neck pillows... Hello! I was in the chair for almost 4 hours and I was extremely comfy. They paid attention to my safety and comfort the entire time. I also had a cavity removed and replaced as well as a chip in my front tooth fixed and both front teeth filed down to match each other. The dentist also gives out him cell when you have a large procedure and calls to follow up the day after. They also call your prescriptions in while you are there so you just have to go pick it up. There was a slight issue with them calling the wrong place but it was taken care of via my pharmacy calling the dentist. Overall it was actually a pleasant experience and I look forward to going back to Dr Hodges! read more

Traveling to Florida for the week for business. Front tooth cracked in half at 1pm. My Chicago dentist recommended them and they were able to squeeze me in at 4pm that afternoon. Even though the office closed at 5pm, Dr.Hodgins and staff stayed two hours after the office closed to mill a new crown tooth and make sure my smile looked good for the rest of my week in town. I may be spoiled...I have had the same dentist since I was 3 years old who was a kind, older man who recently moved his practice from a quaint building on Windermere's Main St. to Clermont. The distance became a headache so I started looking into alternatives. I came on Yelp and chose the Dentist's Studio based on reviews here. My experience was actually pretty good: I was greeted when I came in. They have a personal flat screen TV to watch while you're in the chair. I was asked if I wanted my pillow warmed up. And both the hygienist and dentist were very nice. Nothing hurt and I walked away pretty satisfied. So why the 3 stars? Something is off with this place. It is just a gut feeling but I felt uncomfortable the entire time. When I found the building, I walked in and found no signs on the doors. I walked up and down the hallway and passed the door like 5 times. Finally I opened a door with a sign that mentioned "dentist" but not specifically the "Dentist's Studio" and it turned out to be the right one. I immediately got a vibe of fly-by-night dentist but I told myself it was silly and sat down for my appointment. When the hygienist brought me back, she awkwardly presented the dentist's credentials by discussing where he went to school and explaining that he had many clients including all of the people whose pictures were on the walls. That weird feeling came back again... No doctor that I have ever had explained his/her credentials to me and instead of assurance, I questioned why this was necessary. The same hygienist began asking me about myself but not in genuine way. She wasn't making small talk but it was clear that she was instructed to do so. Throughout the appointment, she would tell each new person I met (including the dentist) all about what we had talked about. This should have been a nice touch but it felt like they were trying to make it feel personal rather just having it be personal. Another hygienist did my cleaning and she was excellent. She looked considerably younger than me (I just turned 28) but she was actually very gentle. No complaints at all here. The dentist was nice too. He seemed like he knew what he was doing and was a pretty cool guy. He only checked my teeth and since we only spoke for a few minutes, can't give a more in-depth review of him. After all of this, I left with mixed feelings. My girlfriend had an appointment later that day so I wanted to see what she thought. I had had a pretty good experience so I thought I was just being foolish. But then she called me right after her appointment and guess what she said?? "It was nice but it felt kind of weird. Like they were putting on a show or something. How was yours?" We both were recommended for deep cleanings which, even after insurance, were going to be a few hundred dollars. They wanted half up front as a deposit to even set the appointment. Not sure if that is common to set an appointment but I declined, as did my girlfriend until we decided if we wanted to come back. We talked about it and both decided to try someone else. Not a bad experience but in my opinion, I felt like he was an excellent marketer and maybe just a decent dentist. He may do great work for all I know but I couldn't shake the sketchy vibe I got. I want to feel like the staff is genuine and trustworthy and this place didn't do it for me. Maybe I am spoiled but I am going to keep looking. I stuck with 3 stars because I didn't experience anything "bad" but I wouldn't recommend it to friends. read more

I am very sad to give a bad review, but while Dr. Hodgins is an awesome dentist, other people in the office ruined my experience. I went in two years ago to get a mouth guard for snoring and while the device worked and I was pleased with the results, I had to pay in advance in order to expedite the process. I was told before I got the dental device that my insurance would pay for the device and they told me that they would submit the paperwork so I could get reimbursed by my insurance company. Several months later I had not heard anything so I called the front desk. I was told that they had submitted the paperwork and that they would need to resubmit the papers again. I was understanding and waited another three months but no success. I went back to the office for a return checkup and asked about the issue but again was told they would resubmit my papers. I asked for copies of the information needed and was told they would need to send me the paperwork, that they didn't have it available. I found this suspicious but suspected that maybe the girl behind the counter didn't know where my papers were located as she was covering for the other person. I left and ended up calling my insurance company and was told no paperwork was ever submitted. I called back the next day and was told that they did submit it. The person at the office told me a convoluted story about how the device is not classified as a dental device and that there must have been an issue with the codes used to classify the device. So I asked again for the paperwork and gave them my email address to send me the paperwork. No paperwork was ever sent. The next week I asked again for the paperwork to be sent to my email but it was never sent. I was growing tired of jumping through hoops so I called in again and asked why my insurance said the paperwork wasn't submitted and the excuse I got was that the insurance company didn't want to pay me and that they were avoiding the issue/making it difficult for me. Quite a different story from the one told to me the day I pre-paid for the device. I balked at such an explanation and again asked for the paperwork to be given to me so I could email it to my insurance company, but again it was not sent. In the end, I paid $2800 for for the device and never was able to get my insurance company to reimburse me. I am terribly disappointed at being told lies and being mislead by the front desk. I would never recommend this office to any one and I would hope that the people who caused me so much grief and trouble are no longer working there. read more

After my last appointment, I'm not going back. There seems to be a lot of turnover in this office. I've never had the same hygienist twice. It's something I noticed the longer I went, but now it makes sense. I went in to have a few fillings. The doctor was incredibly rude the the assistant. I didn't want the thing that hinges one's jaws open, because ouch. When the doc came in, he couldn't help himself and yelled at the assistant to "always put one in". He got after her a few other times, for things that weren't even that clear to me, and even made her go into the hallway so he could reprimand her. The assistant was so sweet and just wanted to do a good job. Even if she was just out of school, it's ok - everyone has to learn. But he's SO MEAN. That's not the end of it. I sat in that chair for nearly 3 hours to get two fillings. That's a long time to have my mouth wide open! I was in so much pain when I left (jaw, not teeth) I had to lie down and take OTC pain relievers. It took so long because he'd leave for 20-30 minutes at a time to work on other patients. I'm so disenchanted and disappointed in my experience that I'm not even attending my second cleaning this year. I'll forego the visit and go somewhere else or wait until the new calendar year, because I don't even want to call to ask for my latest X-rays. :( read more

That was the scene as a received a filling recently. I mean, I could have slept through this procedure. The doctor spends time with you, the staff is kind, and you can tell they go out of their way to provide superior service. I especially like that, every so often, Dr. Hodgins does a day of free dental work for those who are unable to afford basic procedures. Be careful when Dr. Hodges says, it will be covered under your insurance, because for me it's been 13 months and too many calls and I yet to have claim processed due to his office staff not filling out forms correctly. BTW, today I received a email from a Health care Advocate my company has hired to get our money. In the email it clearly states the Service Provider didn't provide correct information. Some people, my mom included, are petrified when they realize they have to go to the dentist. Me, on the other hand, love the feeling of freshly cleaned teeth--and I've even had a root canal! So when it was time for me to find a new dentist here, I hopped on yelp and scoured reviews. After reading a pleasant one for this office, I made an appointment and hoped for the best. Thankfully, I was far from disappointed. The office was decorated nicely and the receptionist perky and pleasant. I got in right away and was happy that they are paperless so no formal paperwork had to be filled out there. They have you do it online beforehand. I was taken into a room for my cleaning and exam and was able to watch TV the whole time. Thank God for modern technology! These people seem to operate in an alternate universe where dentist's offices and doctor's visits are pleasant, efficient, and conducted with heartening care. I'm relatively new to the area and visited the Dentists Studio on the recommendation of my wife. The appointment consisted of the initial exam and a cleaning. It was vastly unlike *any* medically-related appointment I've ever experienced-dentist or not. I've lived in four states and have had varying experiences, but this easily takes the cake. The office is clean, modern, and comfortable. I was in the opening (8am) slot and happened to show up twenty minutes early, yet I was ushered in when the staff got there and they happily got me that initial paperwork as soon as the computers booted up. This first interaction started something amazing: every single human being in that office was friendly, personable, and seemingly excellent at whatever role they occupied. You'd be lucky to have any *one* of the people working there in your office, but it was freakishly staffed by *only* amazing people. Then came the exam. First, they let me know it'd be free because of a referral. Secondly, the assistant taking x-rays offered me a warm neck pillow, choice of TV to watch, and was personable, chatty, friendly and efficient. The equipment was all digital and clearly modern, the assistant happily explained everything as she did it, and the chair even seemed to be covered in soft leather. If it was fake, it was at least the most convincing fake dentist's chair leather I've ever seen and felt. Individual x-rays, panoramic x-ray, and tiny in-mouth camera shots. Done. I was ushered into another room to meet the hygienist, who introduced herself and was also incredibly friendly and personable. The little things she did, like moving the light out of my face if she got up, or cleaning with another tool so it'd be more comfortable, made it feel like my comfort and well-being were high on her list of priorities. I can't express how much I appreciated that. I certainly wouldn't have expected that meticulous level of care - and it seemed more second-nature than forced. When it came time for the fluoride option, I was presented with a printed estimate before they proceeded. I expected to have everything done and brace myself for a bill afterward (out of pocket), but they gave me options instead and they happened to be surprisingly affordable especially given the level of care. Finally, after a brief wait chatting with the hygienist, I met Dr. Hodgins for the final exam. He introduced himself, asked me who I was (as a human, not just a dental patient), and went through basic dental questions that you might expect from ... you know ... a dentist. Despite being busy with several patients, he was relaxed and personable and took great care checking out my mouthy bits. It was a brief visit that didn't feel rushed. He also looked closely at my x-rays and referred me to someone to get a curious (and probably minor) issue checked out. I scheduled my next appointment with a friendly woman who noticed and corrected my misspelled name before I got a chance to mention it to her. If that's not the dentally-friendly icing on the cake, I don't know what is. I will be astonished if I ever encounter another dentist's office like this one. I HATE going to the dentist. In fact I had managed avoiding dentists for a very long time. It wasn't until I thought there was something wrong with one of my teeth that I finally decided to make an appointment at the Dentist's Studio. There were so many glowing reviews, which seemed crazy to me because i doubted anyone could make going to the dentist an enjoyable experience. Well, I wouldn't say that I look forward to going to the dentist, but at least I don't dread it now. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. The office itself is very clean and modern looking. I've been going to Dr. Hodgins on-and-off for about 7 years, and although I now live in California, whenever I visit my hometown of Orlando, I schedule a visit. What is great about his practice is that it is comfortable, professional and (for a dentist's office) is a great experience. The staff at The Dentist's Studio are also quite friendly and professional, and they make the office a little homier than the typical dentist office (which can often be cold and medical). The entire appointment was on-time, and thoroughly explained, leaving out that uncomfortable "what-is-happening-now?" feeling. And... and this is a big one for me... the doctor has gentle hands. Nothing is worse than going to the dentist's and leaving feeling violated and abused. I have not been to a dentist I have liked more, and although I don't go as regularly as I used to (I live on the other side of the country), I still highly recommend Dr. Hodgins and his excellent staff for all your dental needs. Melanie cleaned my teeth not too long ago. She was very friendly and thorough. I love going to a dentist office where everybody calls me by my first name. I Love having a TV in front of me while I'm getting work done. It makes time FLY, and blocks out the noise. They also have noise canceling headphones, you can bring your ipod, close your eyes, and relax while Dr. Hodgins does his magic. I cannot really put into words how pleased I am with Dr. Hodgins and his team. I'm a victim of poor genetics and quite likely also improper technique/habits when it comes to dental hygiene, but NONE of the staff here have berated me for my issues (as other dentists and hygenists have done), rather they've been very encouraging and have offered tips and tricks on forming good habits. Time will tell if it works, but that part is on me. I recently had to have 2 crowns and am absolutely swamped at work; unable to come in during the normal office hours. Dr. Hodgins felt that my issue was important enough that he offered to come in on a Saturday afternoon - to take 3 hours out of his weekend to fit into my schedule so that I could get the work done sooner rather than later. Talk about customer service! Dawn, his primary assistant, is also a consummate professional. As for the quality of the work, before I can complete my crown work, Dr Hodgins did one root canal, and then referred me to a specialist to complete the other root canal. The endodontist took one look at the x-ray of my other root canal and asked me who did it, because it looked like "a work of art". I mentioned that Dr. Hodgins did it, and he said he was surprised, because usually work done that well is only performed by a specialist in root canals, rather than a general dentist. He's the real deal, and he's certainly got this customer for as long as I'm in town. read more

My husband has not been to the dentist in many years. He's very afraid of the potential pain and needed a lot of work done due not visiting the dentist regularly. Dr. Hodgins's office made my husband feel comfortable and he enjoyed his visit. He wouldn't stop talking about how great the office was so I just had to go myself as well. My husband just went back yesterday to have laser periodontal work done under sedation. It was a breeze. He wasn't stressed and doesn't remember a thing. Yelp squad gets it right, again. I was in the market for a new dentist and solicited recommendations from coworkers, which helped me narrow it down to two. The Dentist's Studio had positive reviews from several of my Yelp friends so I gave them a call, spoke with them about their office and made an appointment. My hygienist was great - I told her my main reason for looking for a new dentist was a bad experience with a substitute hygienist at my previous dentist and why that experience had been so abysmal. She did my x-rays and before my cleaning used a video device to show me the backs of my teeth so I could see where tartar accumulates and where I've been brushing too hard, then went over my brushing and flossing technique after my cleaning to confirm what I was doing incorrectly and show me the appropriate technique. I was referred to the Dentist's Studio by a co-worker due to my long-term dentist being closed due to the pandemic. The staff have been courteous and professional during all of my interactions during new patient registration, scheduling, Covid protocols, and care of my teeth. In these days, I find it rare to find a service provider that treats you as a valued customer and not just a number. Furthermore, the dental hygienist (Rachel and Katelyn) were both knowledgeable, efficient, and dedicated to ensuring that their work was top quality, while ensuring that the time spent in their care was pain free and as pleasant as a possible. Dr Hodges is a dental rockstar. His staff is prompt, friendly and warming. The place is hi-tech and clean. Though not the cheapest dental office around, their prices are competitive and you're sure to get the best possible care. Also, the fact that I was able to watch The Sopranos on my own private LCD monitor, while getting a cleaning made this my first pleasant dentist experience (ever) - foget 'bout it! Dr. Zach Hodgins runs an incredibly professional and courteous dental office. A few things really stood out to me when I visited his office. 1. His Dental Assistants walk every patient out to the check out counter after their visit. In a world where customer service is unfortunately a thing of the past in many offices, his team not only provides great customer service, they go the extra mile and pay attention to the little things. 2. The receptionist maintained an open dialogue with patients while we waited. She was very conscience of how long everyone was waiting and made sure no one felt forgotten. 3. The rooms are incredibly comfortable. The chairs are great, watching TV makes the experience that much more fun, and a heated neck pillow made me so relaxed I wanted to take a nap. (doesn't usually cross my mind at the dentist). 4. His Dental team was incredibly gentle when cleaning my teeth and administering x-rays. I felt like they were incredibly thorough and my teeth felt so smooth and clean when I left. I would recommend The Dentist's Studio to anyone in the Winter Park (or greater Orlando) area looking for a new Dentist. They do it all (exceptionally well), and then some. Great job! read more

I was referred to Dr. Hodgins by a close friend and her recommendation did not disappoint. The staff is friendly, the office is clean, my dental hygienist Melissa, was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and kind. Dr. Hodgins is personable and explained my treatment plan in a very basic and elementary fashion, which was helpful for me to understand. The only reason I am not giving it the full 5 stars is because of time spent troubleshooting the technology, and how long my appointment took overall. I had a 3pm appt for a yearly exam/cleaning, and I was done by 540pm. I've never had a dental appointment take so long. Some of the delay was due to the technology. My hygienist needed assistance in working the first Xray, a large panoramic xray machine (that my insurance didn't cover, but apparently was medically necessary), and the camera to take pictures inside my mouth stopped working, which led her to have to unplug and replug, restart the camera. It was a bit frustrating for us both, for different reason. Overall, I had a great experience at the dentist (who even says that???) and will be returning to finish my treatment plan. Tip: Block off a few hours! I had to be somewhere at 6pm and did not expect to still be treated at 530pm. read more

I'm one of those people who are afraid of the dentist. I go every 6 months because I know it's important. But I go kicking and screaming. I have sensitive teeth and a bad gag reflex. So, X-rays are a nightmare and that high pressure electric water thing should be classified as a torture device! Anyway, I found this office thanks to Yelp and really liked that they specialize in crazy people like me! Well, it exceeded my expectations! The staff were amazing! They made me feel at ease and were very patient! This has been, by far, the best experience I have ever had. I didn't even need the nitrous, which I had originally requested. The office itself is clean and I love that they give you a tour. They have neck pillows and TVs in the rooms which were a nice touch. Also, they have Saturday hours which is really convenient. This place will rob you blind and the girls at the front are incompetent. You will cancel appointments and they will still text you like crazy. Call you like crazy and this is not a one time mistake. You will hear them talk about customers like saying omg that's a lot of crowns. Now the Dr puts money/more patients in place of quality work. Here you go here's your sandpaper gritty fillings. That never smooth. Also when you have a problem expect the DR to all of a sudden treat you different. Very overpriced and I kept seeing people come in with billing mistakes.
