I'm sharing this to help others make an informed decision. I went to Sage Dental in October for a routine visit. During the exam, the dentist told me I had 10 cavities and urgently needed fillings and a deep cleaning. He said that if I didn't move forward quickly, I could need root canals or worse. This was extremely alarming, especially since I've never had a cavity in my life. I told him I was close to open enrollment and might change dental insurance and return later. He warned that waiting would be detrimental to my dental health. He also had me look at my X-rays and pointed out all the supposed cavities, which added to the pressure and anxiety. After that, I was taken into a very small office where someone went over financing options. The total cost was in the thousands. I was then told, "Luckily, we have an opening for you today." The entire experience felt rushed, sales-driven, and more like a factory than a healthcare setting. I decided to leave and get a second opinion. I changed dental insurance and went to a different dentist today. After a full exam and X-rays, I was told I have zero cavities. I'm relieved, but also frustrated and concerned that I was put through so much stress and nearly convinced to undergo unnecessary and expensive dental work. Today was one of the most frustrating and unreasonable experiences I've ever had. I took time off work for my scheduled appointment, only to be denied the very services I was promised. Two months ago, I was reassured that I wouldn't need to return to my original location for my cleaning something I was initially concerned about. Instead, I was told I could have my cleaning done at the Winter Park location, followed by the orthodontic portion of my treatment, where the bottom brackets would be placed. But when I arrived, I wasn't met with professionalism or courtesy. Instead, I was greeted with dismissive giggles, rebuttals, and a complete lack of empathy. Rather than taking accountability for the misinformation, the staff met me with confrontation, making an already frustrating situation even worse. To make matters worse, when I requested their corporate contact information to file a complaint, I was deliberately given the wrong number. It wasn't until I called the Maitland location where the staff was far more professional that I was finally given the correct contact. This type of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. No paying customer should have to fight just to be heard, let alone struggle to file a simple complaint. I will make sure that every individual responsible for this experience is held accountable not just by leaving reviews but by escalating my concerns to the highest level. If you're considering this location, think twice. If this happened to me, it can (and likely will) happen to others. Please listen to reviews when it comes to your medical care. Due to my insurance limiting me to mostly Sage locations I understand why some will continue visiting this location but I strongly advise against it. I had a crown placed here last November after my first exam and cleaning. Looking back, I've always had perfect teeth and I do wonder if this was even necessary given that I was not in pain but I assumed a doctor knew best and proceeded with the procedure. Since then, I have attempted to come back for my second exam and cleaning with this office. I had a previous exam cancelled the same day of my appointment that I had already taken off of work for. I then rescheduled that appointment in August but called about 2 weeks before to change it to September. When doing so, the woman on the phone noticed whoever I spoke to previously had booked me for a cleaning one day and kept the August appointment as well, essentially having me come back-to-back weeks for a cleaning and exam. She asked me if I knew who I had spoken to first and assured me that both appointments were moved to the correct date (today). I also reminded them at this time that I was 28 weeks pregnant. Fast forward to today, I was unable to have my exam or cleaning performed. The woman in office was kind and understanding, and I blame her for none of these past issues. I should have been given a medical consent form for my OB to sign, which was never told to me in the last two phone calls I made since being pregnant. Additionally, she said there was no appointment made for a cleaning, to which I showed her a screenshot of my confirmation of both appointments that I took this week to confirm I would be at both. Neither my doctor or hygienist work at this location any more, but I'm unsure how this was not noticed until 3:20pm on the day of my appointments. I can't imagine I was both of these provider's first patient of the day, so even if these had been cancelled earlier in the morning I would have preferred that to driving there to be told I would be receiving nothing. She offered to schedule me for both the cleaning and exam for next week but I cannot risk taking off a third day of work to potentially still have no work done. I asked for my records to be sent to me and I will be looking for a new office and paying out of pocket if I must before I revisit a Sage location, especially this one. read more

Had a surgery scheduled at 9 AM. They come to the waiting room at 9 AM and tell me they can't do the surgery because they are missing one piece of equipment from their shipment. They send someone to another office to pick it up and she returns and tells me I will be called back shortly. 30 minutes pass and I ask the front desk for an ETA and she says the surgeon is "on the phone." 30 more minutes pass and I go back up and now there is apparently more equipment being picked up from another different office. About 10 minutes later, the worker comes back in with a suitcase and arms full of equipment. What type of office has no planning to the point of not realizing you're missing multiple essential pieces of equipment the minute the surgery is supposed to start? And to lie to their patients, avoiding blame, saying the ONE missing piece equipment "just didn't come in the box" when in reality they're missing an entire setup. What type of office worker tells me I'll be called back shortly on her way out the door to go pick up MORE missing equipment? I didn't get called back until noon when my appointment was at 9 AM. To make matters worse, the rooms were dusty and my driver saw a tech walk into the bathroom in full PPE. Disgusting. I am very relaxed with medical procedures, but I had extreme anxiety as I had lost all trust in the staff due to lack of preparation, organization, and communication. Took my daughter for a new patient appointment this week. I was nervous after reading these reviews, but since I already had the appointment I went in, with caution. Everything went smoothly. The staff was courteous and efficient. They had already verified our insurance and showed us the full treatment plan (exam, x-rays, etc.), all fully covered, zero cost to us. It was a good experience overall, and I'll soon be making appointments for the rest of the family. I don't know if previous negative reviews resulted from one bad employee or some other anomaly; I can only speak for myself. But I know folks are more likely to review after a bad experience than a good one. I had a good experience. I went to sage dental in winter park Florida. I signed up for their VIP program because I wanted to get my teeth cleaned and get a cavity filled I'm paying cash so they sold me this vip program that includes initial visit fee and two cleanings or two quadrants of deep cleaning. So I went to visit them and they claim that deep cleaning is about 3500 in other places so I'm saving a ton on deep cleaning. Almost 300 for a cavity. Both which seem outrageous comparisons because I have gotten deep cleanings and cavity fills before and I never paid those prices. They charged me about 60 bucks for my initial visit because they said some bull cancer oral scan and some mouth rinse were not included in my initial visit. If I was told this was not included i would have declined it! Then they refuse to do regular cleanings I paid for because they say I have to do a deep cleaning. Fine I'll do a deep cleaning with my two quadrants that are included in my "vip" plan. Because that's what the person on the phone told me when I signed up for the plan. That should be $380 for 2 quadrants times 2 because they are four quadrants which equals $760.. But the vip Plan includes 2 free quadrants so that should be $380 right? NOPE!! You know when we sold you the vip plan and told you that you get a free initial visit and two quadrants of deep cleaning? Well that doesn't include 40 dollar and 15 dollar random surcharges per tooth. So the deep cleaning is actually about $500 ir $520 instead of $380 So Im out $60 bucks for the free initial visit.. $186 for the "vip program". can't get my teeth cleaned because they refuse to do a regular cleaning. And if I want my teeth deep cleaned I would be paying an inflated rate and if I want to pay for my cavity I would also be paying an inflated rate for the cavity filled. Here are the FACTS and Timeline: (1) Dental officer showed on the tablet that the cost of the procedure was $367; The charges were put on a credit card; I signed the SIgnature Plate; I payed this balance off completely, and have proof that this balance was payed in full. (2) friend and I had almost the same procedures: she paid $650; I ended up paying almost $1063; though different insurances. (3) From (1) Insurance then DENIED my claim... (4) Dentist had 360 days (6 months) to fix it, but instead re-billed me an ENTIRE YEAR LATER; threatened to send me to collections. (5) On appeal, the insurance company did not give a specific reason why the claim was denied. They pointed the finger at the denist, saying it was a a billing error. Yet no one can seem to figure out what was the problem. Because she refused to re-submit the claim, I, the patient am responsible for the bill. (6) AFter more investigation, My entire file was sent to the insurance company for review becuase still no one can figure out what was the problem. (7) I sent in yet another appeal form to the insurance company; Insurance company said the dentist can re-submit the claim even after all this time under certain circumstances. (8) Notified my credit bureaus of the false report and provided the insurnace company the receipts showing I had paid the balance given to me in full. (9) July 14, 2023: almost 1 1/2 years later, recevied notification the the appeal was denied. The dentist CLAIMS to have provided the correct billing code and provided proof that I owed the extra $616, and refused to resubmit the claim. He was sad and depressed upon my return. * someone is clearly getting kick-back payments, causing the insurance company and dentist to work against the patient; The insurance and dentist are "in bed" together to make money and rip-off customer * They make up the rules as they go along, so as to rip off the patient; since when does the dentist tell the insurance company what is and what is not correct. * Employees, like Mustafa, who do not cooperate with these antics, sharades, deception, and dishonesty are terminated. I was told for general cleaning ( which is part of coverage for most if not all insurance plans) I would have to pay over $800. My bank card was charged for a service I never received and now I am in a fight for the right. I was told that they were a PPO but they were not and was told by their secretary that they did not have to tell me anything. These people are THIEVES! Do not go to this office! Scheduled my first cleaning in December 2020. When I arrived, I was told they were super busy and "wouldn't be able to do the full cleaning" but the doctor did give me a quick check. After (what felt like normal) xrays from the hygenist, I paid $10 (copay) and rescheduled for Jan 4. Jan 4 appointment. From the chair, it felt like a normal cleaning. As I checked out, I was informed I had to pay $212.00! This was a "special" type of cleaning, and insurance didn't cover it. I paid, deciding to contact my insurance office, certain it was a clerical error. Nope. It turned out the $212 charge did not have a code that my insurance company even recognized! I swallowed hard and figured I would only be given frustration if I tried to fight it, and gave up on the $212. But wait... Shortly afterward, I recieved a bill in the mail from these thieves, saying I owe them ANOTHER $229 for some type of "special" xrays from December, that my insurance had declined. I contacted my insurance people and was told that the type of xray they performed is only permitted EVERY FIVE YEARS, and I was three months short of the last time this procedure was done. I took the responsibility to call the day before my appointment to confirm that I was only scheduled for one - at 8:00am and why would I have two back to back. Later that same day, I received a call telling me my appointment is at 9:00am. About a week before my scheduled appointment, I received a text saying it had been canceled. I called and easily rescheduled, however, the week of my newly scheduled appointment I received another text saying my appointment had been canceled. When I called, I was told they had no availability until the end of next month. I work a very busy schedule, so having to constantly reschedule appointments and then ultimately not even get an appointment in the time frame needed, was frustrating. Very frustrating to deal with. Then they claim they don't have your telephone number on file, yet they text a link to your phone for appointment requirements prior to your visit. Gotten the run around on several occasions regarding pick up of dental trays, showed up for an appointment only to be told the UPS guy didn't show up so I'll have to reschedule after I took time off from work when they could've done the obvious professional courtesy of calling to say hey your item is not in, instead I get told my item may or may not be in the shipment, we are not living in Jurassic times! Unprofessional and discourteous dealings. Definitely fed up of this establishment's excuses for lack of professionalism. When you got to speak to every staff member to get a problem resolved and explain the problem repeatedly only to have to call through a help desk because you are left on hold several times and the staff that promises a call back within a certain time frame does not return the call or work on your issue because they are "slammed" is unacceptable treatment. They seem to be able to process a charge and even a double charge just fine. Ridiculous, I'd give them a 1 star if it were not for the pleasant female dentist and the hygienist. They took X-rays and then told me I had to come back a different day for the dental cleaning! Never have I ever experienced such inconvenience. I would 100% suggest finding a different office for your dental needs. I was new to the area and needed cleaning, I found Sage Dental and started going to them. I got about 4 cleanings with them. After the 2 sets of Xrays, they told me I had a few cavities that needed to be taken care of. After my cleaning, I met with the doctor. He sat down to talk with me while still chewing his breakfast. When he started to examine me I was in complete SHOCK. Was I tasting cigarettes!! YES, I was. The dentist must not have washed his hands because there was a distinct smell and taste of cigarette smoke. After this experience, I found a new dentist in the area to take care of my cavities. 4 months later I get a bill from them, I had already paid money after each of my cleanings (I am not sure why or what they are coding it as because I should get 2 free cleanings a year.) I have really appreciated the staff at Sage Dental. I've gone for three appointments so far plus an appointment for my 4 year old daughter, and everyone has been very nice and welcoming. One of the ladies at the front desk even walked out to the waiting room to bring me some papers to sign after I had sat down since I'm noticeably pregnant. That was great customer service! But the most impressive experience came when we took my 4 year old in for a cleaning last week. She's very scared of all the different tools and the loud sounds they make, but Thayrin, one of the dental assistants, was extremely patient with her and tried her best to get my daughter to let her use the polisher. On my way to the appointment they said they had cancelled my appointment and given it to someone else because I didn't call back to confirm. I have never had a medical facility cancel appointments last minute for not calling them to confirm your appointment again after having scheduled. If I already called to schedule my appointment, received a reminder call and I am making it to my appointment, it's clear I have that appointment time available. Nowhere in the voicemail does it say to call back or they will cancel. I work back to back 14 hour shifts, I dont have time to waste to keep calling a facility to confirm something I already confirmed to begin with. We are all adults. Around October to November 2021, I went to see a Dentist to have an infection taken care of prior to major surgery in December. Was referred to Dr. Ortiz by a dental assistant with Dr. Alvi (endodontist) from Orlando office to the Winter Park office. I was treated by Dr. Charmaine ORTIZ. Treatment plan included root canals that I expressed did not want due to past bad experiences. Had extractions done instead and was told needed two new crowns. However, few days before Thanksgiving my follow up appointment was moved up sooner I agreed and changed my schedule to accommodate theirs. This appointment was to have my two temporary crowns replaced with permanent brand new crowns. I expressed pain with gestures of my hands during the process (there was mention of lidocaine by the assistant but was never used). I told them that the procedure was a painful process I never had before with new crowns placed. (I honestly felt rushed but I needed to let them know it was painful; usually I feel pressure with new crown placement in the past but not a lot of pain). Again I was told it is normal. I ended up having an infection with pus blood under the two brand new permanent crowns. I told them of this and was going to get charged for another eval for possible root canal. They referred me to Dr. Alvi with Sage again who reviewed my X-rays prior to the new crowns and after. I was told that very active infections developed and I needed two root canals instead of one over the two brand new crowns that Dr. Ortiz just placed. I felt as though I did not have any choice in the matter. These new crowns were only one and a half months old. After the root canals of course one of my new crowns broke in half (maybe a lab issue?). I called winter park (WP) office and was scheduled several times and got cancelled to be rescheduled and cancelled again due to Dr. Ortiz not in the office. I asked for a back up dentist but was told a new one is still in process of joining. Most communication was with front desk Skyler C. and intermittent with Jennifer A. who is the office manager there. I had to go on antibiotics again due to having had major surgery. After expressing my concerns, I was eventually referred to Dr. Phillips office for urgent eval. I was hoping to get treated soon but they had to write to corporate so I could get treatment at the Dr. Phillips office instead. I waited patiently. I was told by Dr. Alvi before that it is safe to have temporary fillings after root canals up to six weeks. It is now at six weeks since and I have called to Dr. Phillips office but they have no response from corporate yet. I called winter park office again to see if Dr. Ortiz was back at work. Was told by Skyler that Dr. Ortiz will be returning but on a limited schedule. So again I explained my situation of the matter and got scheduled to see Dr. Ortiz to replace temporary fill with permanent fill and have my broken new crowns addressed. I wanted to make sure I would not get charged for the faulty broken new crowns and for the permanent fills but was told it would cost me almost another $600 on top of the thousands of dollars I was already charged by the Winter Park office for their initial work, the new crowns now broken, and the root canals done there. At that point, of course I was upset, cancelled my appointment, and now completely LOST ALL MY TRUST in their providers at that office and at the administration/management at winter park for leaving me hanging with new broken crowns, somehow needing root canals that I never wanted but had no choice. I sought a second opinion and the Dentist/Endodontist felt as though the treatment was very aggressive and unnecessary for my major surgery. I am still left hanging with this current issue. I hope my story helps others to avoid this same situation as I unfortunately am in. I do not recommend Sage Dental of Winter Park to anyone. read more

DO NOT GO TO SAGE!!! I REPEAT...DO NOT GO TO SAGE!!! If you've gone to SAGE dental, I recommend you get a second opinion. They are completely unethical and use bad business practices by evoking fear. They tell you that you have thousands of dollars worth of work when its simply not true. GET A SECOND OPINION. I take great care of my teeth but when I went as a first time visit. I was told that I had to have so much dental work. I went to another dentist and explained that sage and a few other dental providers works purely off commission. DO YOUR RESEARCH!!
