We are staying in the hotel attached to this pub. Came in for a drink before our show and it's so charming and cozy. There's a large bustling dinning area and a couple quieter secluded areas. Loving the music and decorations. It's busy as can be and that led us to getting service at the bar as our secluded little room doesn't seem to have a waitress. I didn't have any food there, but the service and ambiance were horrible. The staff clearly were more invested in making my experience miserable than anything else. I overheard racist remarks a few times and they were pushy that I order something to eat (more specifically, the most expensive items they have). A friend of mine went in by herself a few days after I did, and was accused of stealing! They said she came in with some guys and stole a cell phone, and said they had her on video. In the same sentence, they said that they can't prove anything. They never showed her the video or called the cops, they simply banned her from the site and said they'd issue a trespassing ticket (and how exactly would they do that?) the next time she tried to come in. Honestly appalling. I hope your business closes down, because clearly having good service and being decent human beings is too old fashioned for this place. read more

Came in for a drink and decided to stay for something to eat. Danni, from New Zealand, was an awesome server; super freindly and genuine. Nice to see people who are good at their craft. Ordered the Salt and Pepper wings and my company ordered the BBC (shaved beef sandwich in forty creek whiskey bbq sauce). I found the wings a bit greasy and bland without much pepper or salt. Dangerous as hell place downtown. I'm a professional that typically would come in at 6-7 pm to have supper and watch sports. Tonight walked over at 10 on a Monday. Had to walk through 8-10 people outside begging for money and sharing drugs and booze. Got inside and walked down the front of the bar to encounter a group of 6-10 people standing in a group blocking the way. As soon as they saw me. They started saying hey just push through !! Throw elbows! Most of the guys moved to let me through them. Then as I was almost through a couple guys shoved me and I told them to lay off. I sat down to have one of them in my face begging me to hit him it went on until I had to push him away from me and they all converged on me screaming one guy taking off his jewelry and threatened to kill me. Another one was holding a chair up to his chest etc. Eventually the bar staff came out of the kitchen and tried to settle them down. I'm known there and still had to leave as the group was clearly given the preferred treatment. I won't step foot in that place again and I'd advise others the same. read more

Beer: Winston's is hands down the best beer place in Saskatoon. Their prices remain steady and reasonable as they update their craft beer list on a weekly basis. I love their selection and also the fact that it is mostly local and always changing. I'm a big beer drinker so I love being offered a wide variety. Food: typical greasy pub food. No complaints for the type of place it is. I had a Cajun chicken sandwich from here that I enjoyed. Their menu is nothing special (no frills) but it is sufficient for the type of scene they offer. Everything I've ever ordered comes out hot (just made) which I like. Service: love the bartenders not a fan of the waitresses. Last time I was here our waitress was flat out rude to my friend who was inquiring about how his drink was made. From a customer service standpoint, the situation could've been handled better. Some of the waitresses are nice, but most of the time they are unattentive and I'd rather just be ordering drinks from the bar directly. The bartenders are awesome though! If you ask to try a new beer on tap they will give you a small sample. I like this feature because ultimately they can't taste for you and want to help you find a beer that you enjoy drinking. They will also occasionally make small talk with you and are super nice and accommodating. Sitting at the bar is my favourite. Overall, I'm a regular at Winston's and probably always will be. read more

I really like it for a couple drinks on a hot and sunny day. I don't really frequent the place in the winter, unless someone else suggests it. We had a kind waitress, but things moved slowly. We did have a large group of people, but it took much longer to get water for the table than it should have. Drinks selection is good and there are lots of food options. read more

Popped in here for a bite to eat this afternoon and being from England myself it really felt like I was back home, it was like being in an actual authentic English pub. Overall the waitress was really nice and helpful my only complaint is how slow it took to be served. Oh my gosh I loved Winston's! I ended up going two days in a row and experienced both the patio and interior. The patio is kind of dingy and doesn't have even kind of the same aesthetic as inside... BUT it's a patio (and patios are awesome) and it wasn't packed. So whatever, it was a definite win! But, oh man, the interior. The interior is awesome... all thick dark woods and brown leathers. It looks exactly how an older bar in Europe would look. Very classic. Also, despite it being a Saturday night there were still lots of tables to be found. Don't get me wrong, it was busy, but not so busy that you had to leave and go somewhere else. The drink menu is also pretty fabulous, as they had dozens of beers on tap, most of them neat imports that you don't see much of. Also, it seemed like imports were on special (not sure for what? My guess it $1 off) on Fri/Sat nights. Though, the one thing I would have really liked to have seen would have been prices on the beer menu. Unless you wanted to ask for each pick you made, you had no idea what anything was going to cost you until you got the bill. For myself, luckily, everything ended up being reasonable. But I can imagine how one would accidentally order some uber expensive beers without knowing it. read more

I've been here twice and its a pretty hip bar. I'm not a brit so I can't attest to how authentic it is. However I think they are pretty close to nailing down a traditional english-style pub. The beer selection, especially the tap selection, is massive. There is plenty to try and I was impressed by the variety they had. The food is okay, its not spectacular though. Yesterday I had the shepherds pie and when it came to my seat I asked the server if THAT was the pie. I was confused because it was covered in melted cheddar cheese. Not what I was expecting. It was also super hot and my tongue is still burned. Also the carrots or something in it were undercooked and I kept getting this crunch. Today I gave them another shot, had a great beer, but also tried the fish and chips. The fries were borderline soggy but the flavor was good. The fish was cooked properly so they did good on that. Its not a bad place to go. The atmosphere is cozy so if you are looking for a place just to drink this is a safe bet. read more

Been here twice in the past year - the first visit was mostly drinks on their killer rooftop patio in the summer sun. Visited again recently and tried their BBQ Beef sandwich special. I was a little apprehensive about it but it was actually very good! They also have daily drink specials (or happy hour - I can't remember which now), which was also very reasonable. My bill at the end of the night with a couple of beers and food was pretty cheap, all things considered. Consistent and close to where I stay when I'm in town - works for me. Winston's has become my favourite watering hole in Saskatoon. They have an incredible assortment of taps and the prices are pretty reasonable. They may be at the higher end of the market range for something like a Guinness, but there is no market range for most of their beer because they are the only ones that carry it! Most days there is a great special (which makes their beer cheaper than any competitor) so my recommendation is to simply order one of the daily specials. You may find something great that you wouldn't have tried otherwise (and at a savings as well). Not many people are going to a place like Winston's to drink wine, but if you do, an oenophile of my acquaintance recently advised that the selection of wines by the glass was surprisingly good. The whisky selection is pretty good as well, but I can't speak to the prices. I have heard an urban rumour that Winston's shares a kitchen with Rembrandt's. I have no idea if that is true, but I would believe it by the quality of their food. I have never had a bad meal here and, as with their drinks, there is a great special almost everyday (my personal favourite is the prime rib sandwich day). The menu is mostly British pub food, but there are definitely a few additional items that are worth trying. Obviously food preferences are highly subjective, but I think Winston's has the best pub grub in Saskatoon. As for the place itself, it is a little grungy. However, I would counter by saying that the grunginess is part of the charm. It is a big place and can get a little loud when crowded. Not much to be done there. Maybe go back when it less crowded. The waitresses are generally attentive and friendly (there have certainly been some exceptions). Overall, one of the better wait staffs in Saskatoon. The only thing I really wished Winston's would do is put some damn prices on their drinks menu! read more

What a shame. If there was an option to, we wouldn't be giving a star rating because we actually had a nonexperience. Around 3:00 on a Friday it was the intention of my husband and I to have a couple of cold ones along with a meal. Phtt! Two servers not taking notice of us earns this pub nothing in more than one way. No dollar$ for the pub, no tip$ for a server, and no great review. I don't think they even noticed us leaving. The good: The bartenders are very friendly, interesting guys. I really enjoy watching a game on one of the many TV's while grabbing a pint and a meal at the bar. It's a great place to disappear and unwind. They also have a decent beer selection and happy hour specials. The bad: The food is just ok. They just changed their menu and pared it way down a la Gordon Ramsay. The potatoes on the shepard's pie tasted like they'd benn under a heat lamp a little too long and the gravy was ehhhh. The Poutine was decent, but it's the first time I've had Poutine so we'll see after I've been to Montreal. Just lower your expectations and it'll be fine. The ugly: The waitresses are cute, but slow. I actually came in with three other business colleagues after work and grabbed a table. We were not acknowledged or given attention. We asked for menus: nothing. So we got up and left. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Always dingy and dirty inside, super loud, full of frat bros, the food is absolutely AWFUL. It was doubly awful before, the recent menu changes only made it more expensive and slightly less stomach churning. Some of the past staff were lovely, but now it's obviously understaffed as it takes forever to get drinks when the waitresses are handling way too many tables. There's a high turnaround of servers and kitchen staff, which leads to a lot of order mistakes and lack of communication between servers/kitchen/bar. I feel sorry for the servers and staff who still try hard to give good service, since it's management's fault and not theirs. I once had to wait 3 hours for my meal, and every time I asked the server about it she would mutter something about checking with the kitchen and then return an hour later sans-food. Turns out she never bothered to enter the ticket and didn't even own up to her mistake or apologize. How hard is it to mess up chicken fingers anyway? They boast about having a huge beer selection and rarely have more than half the non-seasonal menu available. The offsale has an even poorer selection than places like the Hose or the Colonial for much higher cost. The owner is a creep who posts rants on the company Facebook about how much he hates homeless people/street people hanging around downtown, when the entrance to the pub is a gauntlet of smokers, creeps, and drunks who harass you when you walk in; i.e., his "customers." There's rumors that he harasses his female staff and treats the rest pretty poorly -- hence the turnover. There are so many better bars in Saskatoon that have good staff and management, and even if they have a smaller selection of food and beer, at least it's GOOD. read more

Large, open style British pub with a pretty monster sized tap list. Sort of half Canadian beer on tap and half import. Bottle list is sizable, but nothing immediately stood out being mostly easy to find stuff. Found some Saskatchewan and Alberta beers on tap here. Paddock Wood, the good local microbrewery distributes here, but all of their stuff was not available when I visited. Didn't try the food but looked like your typical pub grub. Definitely worth stopping in at night- it gets crowded but was never overwhelming. Cool place with a great ambiance. read more

We always stay at the Senator when in Saskatoon and eat/drink in Winston's. This time was disappointing: 21st Street salad was mixed greens with onion and a teaspoon of dried out feta cheese, no cucumber and tomato as in the menu. The added chicken at $4.00 extra was previously grilled and cold. The Reuben sandwich was hot and grilled nicely but the pastrami was not thinly sliced and very fatty. The fries were not hot and the oil was clearly past its best before date. Step it up Winston's, we usually love it here!! read more
