This shop is great! Great service, great price even I didn't know about the discount ($55 total with certification). The owner/tech was helpful, friendly and honest. I don't know about the 1 star, but I think the customers were the problem on these cases. Have a wonderful day to everyone!

Went last minute without an appointment and got in right away 30 min to closing. They honored my Valpak coupon price and got me out of there within 15 min. There's a waiting room on the side where they test your car or you can sit on the bench if it's full inside. They usually have their STAR certified rating but still waiting on it for this year. Maybe will get that in a month or two from this review? Very nice and professional. They take credit and Apple Pay if you are wondering.

Awesome sauce! Really great guy not only acknowledged me when I arrived, but showed me where I could wait where it was cool (100+ temp outside). Once my car was up, he apologized about the wait, and we also had some small talk. The job was done quickly, and I was out of there in less than an hour (he was just working on a car when I arrived). The price was fair, and I left knowing my car was taken care of. Do yourself a favor, if you want quality service with a human touch, go here. read more

This is by far the nicest place I've gone to for a smog check. The waiting area is clean, there is a TV and a wide selection of magazines to keep you entertained during the wait. Best of all the service is great and the price is great! read more

Highly recommend!!!! I swear I just sat down and he was telling me my car was ready! The two guys working there were very friendly and went over the paperwork upon finishing. Plus they have very reasonable prices. Referring them to friends in the area and I WILL be back. It is a tad tricky to find them though, I believe you'll see an E&J sign in the front and just drive to the back to their garage on the right hand side! read more

Great service. $20 off coupon helped a lot. $48 out the door for a Toyota Tacoma. Be careful of the coupon though, because you don't get a Free Retest for that. You have to pay the full price to get a free retest. So if you think you're likely to fail, don't go the coupon route. read more

I was looking for a local smog spot as I recently purchased a new car. This place was right down the street from my house and made it very convenient to drop by. Miguel helped me out and he was very friendly and professional. I was in and out within 15 minutes. They were the cheapest smog test center I could find within a 3-mile radius. I was in and out of there in less than 30 minutes and the two guys running the show were very courteous and professional. Seems like they have the latest and greatest smog-testing technology, because it went so smoothly and quickly compared to other places I've been to over the years. Don't forget to mention that you found them on YELP and you get a discount. read more

They were very courteous and professional. I had a little bit of a wait, but they had an air conditioned waiting area with a tv, which was lined with licence plates on the ceiling beams. I would come back the next time I need a smog check, which is in 2 years unless my car blows up. read more

This is only my second Yelp review, but the service of A & E was so good that I wanted to share this information. Getting a smog test is one of those frustrating annoyances that those of us that cannot afford a new automobile every 6 years have to grin and bear. Trying to navigate the gauntlet of shady test centers that advertise one rate and then charge you a higher one, or that make you wait for a seeming eternity to perform the test, merely adds to the annoyance factor. A&E was a dream: the technicians (I believe they are the owners?) were courteous and upbeat; the wait was only 15 minutes from the time I arrived until I was back in my truck; the price was actually less than I expected ($40 instead of the $50 I expected) because I happened to mention that I saw them here on Yelp! (Make sure you print the coupon linked on their website and take that with you and be sure to mention you saw them reviewed here!) Like other reviewers have pointed out the shop is slightly tricky to find: you have to turn into the correct driveway and drive down a row of other shops to get to A&E; the waiting room is nothing special but is clean and has a TV and free bottled water. There were no other customers waiting when I arrived, so I cannot comment on what the wait might have been otherwise. But they are so efficient I would guess it would not have been long. If you dread the thought of having to find a smog test center then I cannot recommend A&E enough! read more

Great experience here. About a month ago I was down to the wire to get a smog check on my 2007 Toyota. I had read some Yelp reviews and picked this place. I called from the road, and I was about 10 minutes out. The owner told me I'd be next. When I got there, three other cars were in line, but he took me next just as planned. I mentioned Yelp and got the discount! The entire thing took about 10 minutes, which I spent in the clean waiting area, an area a TV and complimentary bottled water. I highly recommend. read more

I found them on the internet as I'm sure most of us do. I read all the reviews. Made my own decision based on location. They are close to where I live. Getting in there was a breeze. Going North on DeSoto, I turned right on Saticoy. As I got closer I remembered you could go in through the car wash. Went in, got done, in about 25 minutes. Everyone was incredibly friendly and professional. I was in and out quickly. Thanks guys for a job well done. Will definitely come back. read more

We have moved around the corner in front of Church's Chicken by the Winnetka Post Office. 7624 Winnetka ave. Unit A Winnetka, CA 91306 My name is Alex and I manage A and E Test Only. I attended Nobel, Chatsworth High, and Pierce College. In other words I grew up in the Valley. We are sponsors for Chatsworth High sports team, and a great supporter for the Pierce College Automotive Program. There are a few team members at A and E Test Only, but I will be the one that you will probably see the most. We are known for our honesty, friendliness, and fast service. I used the Yelp search engine and Jack was one of the first people to respond. His prices were also pretty affordable and he was flexible. I asked to come in on a Saturday which he agreed to but I later needed to come in on Friday instead. It wasn't an issue at all. I drove over during a late lunch break and I was met with warmness and a lot of humor. Jack was very friendly, personable and while he was helping another customer, he let me know I could wait in the office and he would be with me shortly. The service took maybe 5-7 minutes and I was out of there in 10-15mins. As Jack was handing me my paperwork, he mentioned that the smog certification was already on its way to the DMV. I've been bringing my vehicles to Ray since the early 2000s, and he has consistently proven himself to be honest, knowledgeable, and someone I can completely trust. I drive a 2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport, and now that I'm past the factory warranty, it is incredibly important for me to know I have a mechanic who will give me accurate information and fair pricing--without taking advantage of the situation. Ray has always done exactly that. Over the past few months, I've had a few issues arise. When my car overheated and was losing coolant, Ray quickly diagnosed a leaking hose and repaired it the very same day, getting me safely back on the road at a fair price. Another time, when the check engine light came on, he identified that it was simply the battery and replaced it efficiently. What I appreciate most is his honesty. Just yesterday, my check engine light came on again, and after running diagnostics, Ray explained that the system was detecting vapor from the refueling area and that I likely just needed to tighten my gas cap. He could have easily charged me for unnecessary work, but instead, he gave me the correct guidance--and didn't charge me a thing. He has even helped me with small things, like replacing the battery in my key fob, at no cost. Ray is the kind of mechanic everyone hopes to find--skilled, fair, honest, and genuinely committed to taking care of his customers. When you leave his shop, you feel confident and secure knowing your vehicle was serviced correctly. If you are looking for a trustworthy mechanic who will treat you with integrity and respect, I highly recommend Ray and 101 Auto Repair.

If you have your DMV renewal slip with you, that makes it easier as he can just scan the bar code so that your certificate gets sent electronically to the DMV so they can send you your tags. Every time I've been here, I never had to wait as it's not crowded at all. Could just be my luck. The owner doesn't talk very much, he just gets in there and starts working on the car. Usually takes about 10-15 minutes for the whole process. They accept all credit cards except for Amex. I have a Sequoia and it cost $60. I was here back in 2023 and it was $50. Inflation I guess. It's a clean shop with plenty of chairs to wait it out.

This is one of the few automotive shops left that is still honest, good price, clean, bilingual, fast, courteous and the technicians are actually knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. I just took in my car to get a smog, and being a girl, I was a little hesitant because I do not know much about cars. To my surprise I was not given the run around with the price and the technician was very informative. He told me exactly what I needed to do next. Also, they have a great and clean waiting area in the shop with a TV. I will always bring my car here. I had called a place around the corner (on winnetka and saticoy) and the technician was rude, harassing and a total rip off. He charges $20 more a car and does not offer a free retest, unlike A&E who is more economical and does offer a retest. read more

it was that time to get my car a smog test... I went this morning to get my car smoged I went and stoped at the first place i saw i parked my car and asked for a price they told me $60 i said fine and waited in line to have my car smoged,to pass the time i checked my I phone for other smog test shops in the area and read the reviews on A&E I gave them a call they Quoted me $48 out the door,I asked the other guy if he will match A&E price he said "we don't match prices" i got into my car drove to A&E was out after 15min got great service and a fair price i was very happy. read more

Eddie and Alex are the Bomb!!! not only did i get a wee bit of lee way for the FREE RETEST butt $45 including certificate at a "smog Cert" where dmv requires i got to the 'STAR' cert, not only did i pass but they really worked with me and were very helpful and simply Glorious!!! thank you, everyone else wanted $70 and NO retest; i'll also dropped my id and $ and eddie gave it back untouched and even called me; v ery good people, very quick very glorious and i got my F#$%^tags, whoohoo! read more

Received DMV registration renewal notice for STAR certified SMOG Station. Chose Winnetka Smog, because of their 5 star reviews on Yelp. Got $20 discount when mentioned about yelp. Eddie smoged my Kia Optima. Got lucky as I don't have to wait and got done in less than 10 minutes as no one was there before me. Passed and $40 out the door price for a STAR Smog Station. No extra surprises or charges for E certificate and other crap. read more

Had a give a shout out to this place. Fast, easy, cheap, and they have a nice waiting room in the back. I was done before I finished my first magazine. The price is the cheapest I found too. Highly recommended. read more

Alejandro is great. He's polite and casual and smog checked my car within 15 minutes. His shop is tucked in the back (at the end) among a row of mini garages. I recommend A&E without any reservations. read more
