The Stevens Estate was an idyllic setting for our summer South Asian wedding, but a staffing change…read moreshortly before our wedding soured our experience in the final weeks. We visited SE in the summer of 2020, and immediately loved it. The grounds are gorgeous, there is plenty of parking, and multiple areas in- and outside the house for guests to explore. If you want a classic New England feel, with a gorgeous backdrop, you'll love the SE. Joanna, the erst-while director of the estate, was very flexible and patient in answering my Qs and ultimately we felt confident about booking the SE for summer of 2021, despite having no idea what the Covid situation would look like in a year, because we trusted we were in good hands. Fast forward about eight or nine months, things started to get more difficult a couple weeks later when we learned that Joanna would be leaving the SE, and that Humara (who had previously been assigned to us as just a day-of coordinator) would be taking over. Humara clearly had much less experience than Joanna, and it was obvious that she was over capacity with basically single-handedly coordinating all the wedding/events at the SE this summer. Her communication was often unprofessional, she had to be reminded of details multiple times, and we got multiple frenetic and confused emails in the month leading up to the wedding. On the day of the wedding, all I can say is that it was a success DESPITE Humara and her team, who seemed totally unprepared and unconcerned with us having a smooth client experience. One example was that Humara had berated one of our child guests about scattering rose petals as part of the procession -- instead of talking to an ADULT, she scolded the child before the ceremony, upsetting her. It was totally unprofessional and we had to apologize to the child and her family afterwards for the way she was treated. I believe the SE is getting turned over to private management later this year, which hopefully will improve the experience for future guests. I would recommend the SE to future couples IF there is better management, as I think the venue has a lot of potential. However, the SE leadership short-changed us (and probably other couples this summer) by putting a single, less-experienced staff member in charge of the entire 2021 wedding calendar at a gorgeous and in-demand venue

They kept in contact in timely manners and they worked with us with prices. The day of was such a blur but Bob had complete control over everything! Everything ran smoothly and Bob did everything he could to keep me calm. I heard that Dave did everything he could to keep my husband calm and collect. The ceremony was set up perfectly and beautifully. During cocktail hour our servers Stephanie and I believe Melissa was wonderful. they made sure my wedding party had food and drinks. Stephanie from the beginning was simply amazing! She had tissue on hand! She did everything she could to make that day amazing. The reception was even better. The food!!! O the food! The chicken was to die for! The tenderloin was wonderful. We had family style so everyone stuffed their faces! haha. Stephanie made sure that my husband and I eat our meals before anything! I was nervous before hand that we wouldn't be able to do so. My champagne glass was always full! The venue was absolutely beautiful! I don't think I can do enough praising! I wish it didn't end so quickly! Thank you everyone at DiBurro's for make a day to remember!!

The food was excellent and they were constantly checking in with us during the event to make sure everything was ok. They also had a podium with a microphone along with a projector screen (we brought a projector) to show a slideshow. All in all, it was a great experience and we know our mother would approve!

Most of them are on the board, or a child of someone who is one the board or a girlfriend of someone who's on the board and it is a SHAME!! Some great people and bartenders(including myself) have came and went all due to a certain group of people that think they are important big shots. In reality though, outside of the Elks Social Club they're just a bunch of CLASSLESS NOBODIES! There is a reason why every person they hire does not last more than a few days...If the board & Elks members, (the one's that are actually decent & not somehow related to the ones mentioned above), care at all about the future of their beloved club then they really need to do what is necessary to make changes AND get rid of the ones that constantly abuse their positions to ONLY better themselves...

When I got to the hall there was more than 15 tables set up. And then I was supposed to have three large buffet tables set up. I had to find another table to set up plus take the remainder of the tables and chairs down. That we did not need. This was supposed to be all done for me. That was extra time spent having to do this. A gentleman approached me and advised that I could not bring drinks in. I brought juices for the kids and water for the coffee pot. I did not have time for this unnecessary behavior. I knew the rules and was abiding by them. Then on top of it. There was no water in the kitchen to rinse things with. Then at 5.00pm my guest arrived. But no bartender. I waited for a bit to see if one showed up. Then I went upstairs to the lounge and asked the bartender there if he knew where my bartender was. He did get on the phone and call Priscilla who was out of town and he left a message. Then another gentleman got on his phone and called someone else. No one seemed to know who was working my event and get in touch with them. I said to the bartender up stairs what am I going to do with nothing for my guest to drink. He said just wait a little while. Already over the time I paid for the bartender. Now it is almost 6.00pm and a girl walked in and she said she was our bartender. I was very unhappy with this situation. I called the lady I contracted with myself and she did answer he phone. She advised me she was out of town and she would take care of this. I have not heard back from her as of today. The bar then was opened. My guest got their drinks and from my understanding there was too much alcohol in the drinks. The bartender was not making the drinks correct., and that some of my guest found bugs in their drinks. I did not find out until the next day about the bugs and too much alcohol from the guest of honor. If I had known I would have approached the bartender and advised her of what was happening. The night was approaching the end. And I looked over at 10.30pm and the bar was completely closed. I have heard of last call 15 minutes before the end but not that soon. Overall I paid 500.00 for the hall and the bartender. And neither was correct. I am very dissatisfied overall. I feel as though the money given and the service was not provided. I do not do business this way. I was completely embarrassed about the whole situation. The hall hasn't even mentioned anything about compensation for the time. I believe they should. This should not even be rated. It was a terrible experience.

Their event coordinator and experienced staff helped us to select vendors, choose a menu, plan the ceremony, and choreograph the entire event so that it was unique, romantic, and memorable. On the evening of our wedding, our event coordinator personally attended to our needs, ensuring that every detail happened as planned. We had very specific expectations (with a dozen checklists to prove it!) and she and the staff exceeded every one. The deck and function rooms looked amazing; the food was fantastic; the service was courteous and attentive, but unobtrusive; and, most important, the evening flowed flawlessly, with no intervention from the either of us. We wouldn't be surprised to learn that Salvatore's also had something to do with the postcard-perfect sunset! ;) Months later, our guests continue to gush about the evening, including the food, the staff, and the venue itself. We are so happy that we chose Salvatore's for our wedding. We wouldn't change a thing.
