How lucky were we that this place is open 24 hours!…read more An airport mishap caused our bags to go missing and probably won't make it to our hotel until the next day... maybe two... so we stopped by to score basic needs - mostly toiletries. Staff was friendly - even during odd hours of the night - "You have no toiletries?" (Clearly she knew we were tourists.) We explained the whole missing bags thing to clear that up. They had everything we needed - clothes included - because who knows how long before our bags get delivered! Prices were reasonable - none of the tourists rates some places charge. What made it better is that it was only a couple of blocks away from our hotel. We returned a couple more times during the week for more basic stuff - mostly snacks, water and other rehydrating drinks. What I mostly appreciated is how conveniently located it is. In the situation we were in, we were grateful for it being where it is!

We ended up choosing a terracino, which was a wedge of roasted almond ice cream. We learned more history about the ice cream company, and then headed down the street to check out the original ice cream HQ down the street which is now a French patisserie!

I had actually forgotten how nice it is to call and speak with a person. They offer all the standard items of convenience stores from snacks, drinks, lottery in addition to household basics, medicines and of course, souvenirs and NOLA specific goods. Pricing here is a bit high, but that is not surprising. They know they are in a prime location and when you come here, you are paying for convenience. The store needs some TLC conditionally, and a little bit more attention to cleanliness wouldn't hurt. Service was super friendly and welcoming, which was a redeeming quality for this location. Overall, solid 3.5, but the cashier really made our day. We wandered in for a soda and drink, and got what we were after, but if we needed more than that, we would probably go elsewhere due to price point. But again, this spot came in clutch when needed.

The kicker is that I didn't want to use a random ATM in the city based on potential legitimacy issues. Only to get scammed by a billion dollar corporation. The self scan machines let you enter AND PAY for the cash back, and then throw an error and you're unable to get money out. No employee (including the manager) will reverse it, give you the money or do anything other than say "I assure you it didn't charge, it'll fall off your account". Or being told to fight it with my bank. I assure you, we've been back home for 3 weeks, it very much didn't fall off, and I have now been wasting my time with chargebacks through my bank. Don't go here.
