This Winn-Dixie makes you wish there was a closer Publix. The produce is not the best. I will say they have a good "health food" section with organic products, vegan products, and gluten free options. If you're getting wine, make sure you take pictures of the stickers. The registers never pick it up on their own and you have to get an associate to manually adjust it. The first time we dealt with this issue we had the nasty manager Vivian help us and oh god the amount of attitude she had. She made us wait around for when she was ready to help us (aka get off her phone) and when she did finally help us she was so rude about it. Other times we deal with much nicer associates who are ready to get the deal set up in the system. One time we came in to get some drinks for Fourth of July and the manager wasn't having it and kicked us out. Not just us but all the shoppers coming into the store. She literally yelled as us all that they were closed (people were still in the store, they still had an hour left of being open) but they couldn't handle the amount of customers I guess. Like I said, they're nothing compared to Publix. It's really the only option in the area so I guess they don't care about how they operate but they could do so much better. read more

If there was any other game in town I would not shop here. These pics are from this week alone! The reason I took a picture of the blueberries is because you can clearly see right above the blueberries is a BOGO sign. However, when cashing out I noticed that I was being charged full price! I was told "oh, no not these ones". So I ran back to the fruit section and grabbed two of the ones that were on the table beside this one. Back at the cash, the nice lady then said "oh no not these ones". I said "these are the only blueberries I can find. Which ones are BOGO? The nice checkout lady shrugged her shoulders! Not my favorite Winn-Dixie but they do have a few things Publix always seems to be out of. So there's that and it's perennially fun to look around for Key deer when here. ...not unlike elsewhere in the Keys, the produce isn't always the best, meat's been off more than once, and checkout's almost always frustratingly longer than it should be. read more

The people who work here are so incredibly kind. And to make it even better, they have specials for Amsterdam Vodka where you get a six pack of ginger beer for free, which in my opinion, is WAY better than Ginger Ale. I personally get the diet Ginger Beer, but the regular is totally great as well. I think this brand is an indie brand, and I totally love their slogan which is: "The mixer that lifts your spirits!" The taste of this non-alcoholic soda is a bit spicier than regular ginger ale, but to me, that it is better. Im not a sweet tooth. Would rather have nachos than chocolate cake, for example :) Anyway, Im not sure if this is available at all Winn-Dixie, but the promo seems be affiliated with New Amersterdam Vodka. Absolutely the worse grocery store I've ever shopped at. The produce is sub par, the deli is always understaffed. They are always lacking in the most basic of products. If there is more than one cashier working at a time it is a miracle. Management is never available. If it were not the only game in town they'd have shut down years ago. read more

This is the only store we have in big pine key. Unfortunately they cannot get employees so a lot of the shelves are empty it takes a long time to get through the checkout. You have to be very cautious if you have frozen food to make sure you get that the very last thing and that the lines are not long. You can tell the employees are really stressed but they try to smile. read more

Awful. The prices often ring up different from the price on the shelf, you can't get service at the meat or seafood departments, the customer service desk rarely is attended, and its rare that there's more than a couple registers open. Forget actual baggers. They often have a sale for usda graded steak, but when you get there the steak is the ungraded sketchy kind and the employees and managers won't do anything about this. We made the mistake of buying this once and it was not good. The bathrooms are disgusting and you have to walk through a wall of cigarette smoke to get in the store from the employees taking their breaks out front. It's worth the trip to Marathon to get to Publix. We bought ice cream cones for the kids and they were so disgusting that the cones were rubbery. Everything seems old in the freezer case. My worst Winn Dixie experience ever. Over charged for several items even after entering my Winn Dixie card. Pointed this out to the manager, Brian, who then gave me a song and dance about unloading trucks and employee shortages. The store is dirty and disorganized. It's an ok store, my mom came to visit me and I was so bummed when she mentioned none of the cashiers were friendly. The guy who checked her out didn't even respond to her Good Morning. Ever since the new manager took over (Jay) and produce guy (Scott) the store has went way down hill. Shelves are frequently empty. The produce is rotten and empty. Last week I was there and they were stocking full plastic bags of tomatoes which were loaded in mold and fuzz. Yesterday there were 2 registers open and lines were back down toward the wine section. I have no clue how corporate has not shut the place down because it's just embarrassing anymore. Today, I opened 4 boxes of noodles and 3 contained bugs. That was it for me. Great grocery store for being on an island 90 miles from mainland. Good hours and good selection

1st visit to a Winn-Dixie. It's your run of the mill supermarket. An A&P in sheeps clothing (North East ref). It has all of your essentials. Only reason we stopped here is because it was one of a handful supermarket stops on our way back to MIami from KW. We needed snacks and a bathroom break. It is not on Rt 1, you have to take a few side roads to get here. It was packed though! I guess because there isn't much in the area. read more

As grocery stores go, it's just OK. It's clean and has most things one would want. The personnel leave something to be desired. On any given day, there is a line-up of employees standing outside, leaning over the railing smoking. It's disgusting. If a store is going to encourage employees to smoke, send them out behind the store, not out front. It's low class. Some of the employees look like they just left the halfway house. They have limited communication or customer service skills. I only go there if I need a couple items. The Publix Store in Marathon is a better store with better personnel. read more

The cashier (Gwen) was incredibly rude to each of our family members for different things (walking through a closed aisle when we hadn't bought anything in order to be out of the way of paying customers while the family members who were buying stood in line, those who were buying stuff were "too close" to the aisle apparently?). So much sass and zero customer service whatsoever. I understand there can be frustration on the job, but this was by no means an appropriate way to treat customers. They seem to try hard. I don't even know if I can describe it. You know, its like a Marsh or a Von's or a Kroger in the middle of the Florida Keys. Seriously I don't expect too much but god... They've got about everything but the produce and baked goods and deli stuff just always seems a little tired. OK, I'll come clean. I had a sort of bad weird experience which probably isn't Winn Dixie's fault entirely. I'm in line and it moves really fast. I'm next... Shit, I forgot chips...oh well... no chips for dinner. Shit, I forgot cheese (deli sandwiches for dinner)...ok, I'll get out of line and get chips and cheese...and ice cream, whatever. Back in line - I chose poorly. There's some sort of a snag and the check out person needs a manager to back something out of the system. After about 4 attempts on the intercom, the poor person at the register is getting belligerent over the intercom: "I SAID...Need help on checkout 4 Mitch..." Just then a total vagrant walks up and gets in line right next to me and the woman in front of me. The stench is indescribable. The woman starts waving her hand in front of her nose as if to shoo a fly. Me - I exit to the automatic checkout lane to wait in another line. Of course the auto check out is anti-intuitive and doesn't scan everything on the first, second, third...+n tries. Mitch...I've got a PROBLEM on auto check out 1... It's almost jaw-dropping how expensive an apple is here compared to where I am from (California). The staff is unfriendly. Considering its the only grocery store in the Big Pine area it should be doing a lot more business. The meat and fish counters did not look fresh or appetizing so I didn't buy either and I was ready to buy for the week I would be here. Its a shame this place can't get its s*&% together. Too bad for the locals and visitors who have to put up with this. Maybe Publix or some other grocery chain can come in and buy them out. There is enough room on Big Pine for one or two more grocery stores. The old flea market area and in the industrial zone are just 2 places to think about. They desperately need them. read more

The Winn-Dixie shopping Store, is very nice now that it has been remodeled, the parking lot is especially much cleaner, we shall see how long that will last, I think it depends on the management and the people who are involved in the cleaning process. Anyway, although I find many of the products to be quite expensive, I was happy to find some products that were similar in price to the Navy base commissary. I like the organic choices that Winn Dixie carries, however, I only wish, that this seafood was from local vendors versus vendors out of town. I also would like to see more staffing in the deli, I shouldn't have to wait 10 minutes for a staff member to finish up serving another customer. read more

This was closest full service grocery to cudjoe key where we were staying. Has everything you would need Produce was good. *Have to shop for liquor next door in their separate liquor store. Grocery did have wine and beer. Small bakery with good cookies and breads. *Have your PLENTI card number ready at checkout if you want the sale prices. Odd entrance in and out of store with ramps. Gets a bit congested. Must be to protect store from flooding and hurricanes. read more

Stopped in here for some things while on vacation. The place was clean well lit and the workers were all very polite and helpful. Prices are a little higher then I'm used to but it's the location. If anyone has a complaint about this place please come visit a Key Food or a Superfresh. You will never complain about Winn-Dixie again. read more

I am a local. This is the only store that I have to shop from with out going to Marathon or Key West. Every time the management changes, which is often, it seems like they try but it always goes back to the same old thing. The produce is pathetic. Poor selection with high pricing and then is goes bad in 2 days. The biggest section of the store is the wine. This is great for tourists but as a local I would like to see more selection of everything. If something is on sale you can be sure that it will be of stock. They forget that we get crowds on holidays and fantasy fest and do not order enough food or have enough staff. You can't really complain because this is the highest grossing Winn Dixie.
