Yikes. Ive been a patron of the various Winking Lizards for nearly 20 years and what was a nice, easy going sports bar/restaurant/neighborhood eatery has morphed into a crowded, nondescript and overpriced watering hole. Being a former World Beer Tour finisher, I was hoping to see some form of a rotation with their beer list (which has not happened). At the very least, I hoped they would purchase enough of their monthly bottle specials to last the first week of the month (also a no go). In addition, the constant inconsistency with food coupled with a generally incompetent management staff make me second guess any visit to this location. Ive had a great time at the Lizardville's, so perhaps the issue rests solely with this location. How difficult is it to make a pizza that is not burnt/undercooked? The only things going this for this place is the free popcorn, a massive (but overpriced) beer list and a fairly friendly wait staff. Once the area residents realize there are far better options for a bar/grille in the surrounding area and stop patronizing this restaurant, maybe then will this location make some kind of effort to produce a quality product. read more

This is a very large sports bar themed chain location. They specialize in wings, burgers and deep fried things. I haven't been to a winking lizard in well over a decade. I found myself craving wings. I haven't had a really good wing in quite some time. I still haven't The food is simply made to be mass produced. I didn't care for the jumbo wing they use. The skin doesn't get crisp and the meat is a bit off putting. The sauce was good and the fries were the best thing on the table. The thing that raises this place up is the beer selection. Literally over 100. So many that our waitress didn't know what we were ordering. She asked us to give her the number next to the beer. Kind of like ordering strip mall Chinese food except with beer. They have a live Iguana named Doug who lives here. He looked kind of dead, but that's what Iguana's look like 95% of the time. Beer is 5 food and service is 2. read more

Was looking for a place in Canton that had good wings and I found it. Monday and Tuesday were 40cent wing days and I took full advantage. They have plenty of flavors and the wings were always hot and plump when they came out. I thought the service was always good and when i sat at the bar it was even quicker. For all the beer fans out there this place is your spot. Tons of brews, mostly imports but some locals as well. You can do the Beer Tour and blah blah blah but seriously they have a nice selection. I have never tried anything else but their wings so I can not comment on the rest of their food but I've been told their pizza is also delicious. This tavern is a fun place to be, they really got 100s of beers from all over the world. Its not just about the beers though their food is great too. Their menu covers pretty much anything that you would crave when you are in a tavern. We tried the wings (again quite a few options there) and cheesy beer bread to begin with. After all this I barely had any room for dinner but I still managed to chow down half slab of juicy baby back. Of the locations I've visited in the Winking Lizard chain this one by far has the best patio! They also have the most TV's of any of the lizards I've been to... Get here early on Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays or you'll never get a parking spot much less a table. It's proximity to the Lake Cable / Jackson Township crowd means this place gets packed! Make sure you take your picture with the lizard next to the dinning room. (If you're under 21, you wont be able to get a table here after 5PM without someone of legal drinking age. On a recent trip to Ohio, I decided to try the Winking Lizard. I had read that it was a great place for beer. I wasn't disappointed! The Winking Lizard has around 150 beers from around the world with roughly 30 on tap. Their beers are reasonably priced for the most part and there is a very diverse selection. I had a Houblon Chouffe and a Stone Smoked Porter. I was impressed to find that both beers were served in the correct glass! For food, I shared a 6 piece of the Goldfinger wings and had a blackened catfish po' boy. The wings were flash fried, crispy (not breaded) and the flavor was amazing! The po' boy was perfect cooked, not too fishy and the coleslaw was a nice addition. The server was very good and there was nearly no wait! read more

Great wings and good beer selection. Only downside is that they often seem to be out of some of the craft beers on the menu, but that's ok, as there's literally probably over 100 beers to choose from. Go with the cajun wings, you won't be disappointed. read more

I really like the Winking Lizard. First and foremost for the insane amount of beers they have available along with a decent list of seasonal and local taps. What's not to love? And the BEER OF THE MONTH! Take home the special glass that comes with the beer. It's a bargain and they sell out, so go early in the month! Other goodies: Free popcorn. I had just rolled into town on a business trip and remembered that these were some of the best wings I had ever had. Fried then grilled before adding sauce. I went out of my way (12 miles) to have them again.... Wings were not grilled as asked, and I had made a big deal about how I was craving the grilled wings to the barmaid prior to ordering. The Winking Lizard receives my, "Makeover of the Year" award. Not only did they re-do the interior to be more bar-like, they also expanded the menu. The food is good. They have a real lizard behind a glass window which is either creepy or cool depending on how you choose to look at it. It's a pretty big lizard, and yes, it was winking at me :) I ordered the cajun chicken spinach salad and it was pretty good. Next time I would sub out the spinach for romaine or any other type of lettuce except spinach. The buffalo chicken wrap is probably the tastiest thing on the menu. HUGE beer selection including one of my faves, Paulaner Heiffeweisen. The only downside is it's so damn dark in the bar area. If you go in there for lunch at the bar you will lose all sense of time. read more

3.5 Stars This place is unique, to say the least, but in a good way. First of all, free popcorn while you wait (awesome) and Doug the iguana. Definitely gives this restaurant some character! My party of 6 was here on a Saturday night, and had about a half hour wait before seating. Our server was friendly, but didn't seem knowledgable about the menu. We asked what the soup of the day was, and she said it was chicken velvet, but she didn't know what was in it. I ordered the open face steak sandwich. The steak was pretty good and it came on garlic bread. On their menu they say they are all about fresh food and ingredients but the fries that came with it were definitely of the frozen variety. For dessert we had the summer special: lemon blueberry meringue pie with blueberry sauce. This was definitely a highlight- so good! The total for our table came to about $70, which included beers, dinner, and 2 desserts. Pretty good value! read more

When in town I will go here, the good beer selection and decent food. I got the burger with fries, I can't remember which one. The burger was cooked good and to my liking. The bun however was stale, and crumbled in my hand ever time I would take a bite. Will I go back, sure. I will ask if they have fresh buns for burgers if I choose to eat that again. read more

We had a female bartender at the outside bar that wasn't very friendly or accessible. She got our drink order wrong and then disappeared for 10 minutes so we had to flag someone else down to fix it. I really wanted to like this place. The food was wonderful ... After the wait to get it. A group of 12 of us went here for lunch and there was us and 3 other tables at noon. Not only did we not get our drinks until our food arrived, but 3 orders were wrong. We could see our drinks ready while the waitress stood in the back and yapped to a coworker. She obviously didn't want the $100 cumulative tip. 2 managers 2 different times actually came up to the table to let us know we needed to call a day ahead with such a large group because they lost regular lunch customers because "there wasn't tables for them". Actually, there was at least 10 available tables. They were pretty much letting us know how inconvenient we were to them. I had the black bean burger and it was really good. This review combines my 3 most recent visits to "the lizard," as they call it. The service is horrendous. I have no idea how you can screw up bringing a few beers IN A BAR or a plate of wings. They do. Do the servers just have too many tables? Is it the bartenders holding up the line? Does the wait staff as a whole just plain suck? Yes, yes, yes! 1. The food is so-so at best. The wing sauces are good, but the way it is applied very lightly leaves a lot to be desired. 'The Lizards' in Fairlawn and Peninsula do a good job at this. Canton fails. Oh yeah, it takes forever too and is really expensive. $0.40 as the wing special is not THAT special. 2. They are known for their World Tour of Beers. Great... a bar full of regulars ordering beers that nobody has heard of and the bartenders don't know where it is. SLOW bar service, even for a draft. Could it be that 3 people working behind a bar that seats around 400 is a bottleneck? hmmm 3. They lost my credit card. 4. Seating is always an issue. The "dining room" always smells gross and is over-packed with tables. The bar is spacious, but I am convinced it only has enough seats for the World Tour/regular customers. 5. The wait. I will never understand why anyone would wait more than 10 minutes to eat there, yet the "lobby" is always full of people. Add to that the difficult task of getting a beer while you wait. I had always put up with this place for being local. The whole "its okay because they are local" has grown old though. Their new space has been open for years with no improvement. Their losing of my credit card this week though has really set me off. How do you lose a credit card? The race is on now. Who will win? The delivery of my new card; the attempt to use my stolen card; or the restaurant finding the card dropped in some kind of crevice? My money is on #2. There comes a point in a bar's life where they get so big and so popular they just stop caring about customer service. This is how I feel about winking lizard. Wings are simply ok. There seasonal specials are always pretty good I recommend that. The beer is good a lot of variety. But if you want cold beer and a good meal with good customer service don't come here. 3brothers is better BW3's, Jerzees all better and more accommodating. read more

Full disclosure. I worked at this location for 5 years on the day shift. This is both good and bad, I have also been a chef for over 13 years. This is one of the few spots in canton that had a good Fat Tuesday menu. The Mardi Gras seasonal menu is also wonderful. I called in for a to go. Medium well bourbon steak with sub p-fry. The girl who took my order told me 15 minutes. I arrived approximately 20 minutes later. I waited an extra 10 minutes for my food. They had 3 customers at the bar, one arrived after me and the other put their order in while I was there. A table of two that were sat after I got there. Now keep in mind it takes roughly 15 minutes to cook a 12 oz medium well steak. The ticket times for lunch there are 12 minutes. Add 4 minutes for well done steaks. So even being generous and giving them an extra 4 minutes with an empty dining room, I waited twice as long as I was told. The bartender did keep me informed of my order status. Finally get my food. Everything looked amazing. The steak wasn't burnt and the fries looked wonderful. The way the food looked is why I have generously given 2 stars. The steak was overcooked and dry. It also had the texture of boiled meat. There was a very obvious slit in the bottom of the steak, either to check temperature or to quicken the cooking process. Aside from the bourbon sauce on the outside it had no flavor at all. And the sauce was used in a very sparing manner. The fries were grease logged and cold. Much colder than one would expect from a short 5 minute ride home. The garlic bread was rock hard. The part that was edible was extremely "wet". Management should check into properly training their cooks. Showing them how to check temperature without cutting into the steak as it dries it out and unevenly cooks it. Timing up foods that take longer and foods that take shorter should be a priority. Especially with to go orders. Im not sure what's happened in the past 2 years but I can honestly say it isn't good. I was extremely disappointed by the taste of my food and the wait time was ridiculous. I'm sorry to have seen this establishment slide so far down the scale of acceptable food. The beer selection is great and probably the best reason to come here. The second best reason is the numerous TV's that line around the restaurant. Being from PA, we'd often request a Phillies or Flyers game, and the staff always changed the closest TV to us without any problem. The food is pretty good too, especially their wings and salads. Their seafood was the only thing that I didn't like, but I guess it's my own stupidity for getting a $8 salmon filet at a bar and thinking it was going to be good. The only drawbacks are that it is always loud, almost always crowded, and for some reason parents love letting their kids run around the restaurant here. read more

Wasn't even able to eat here due to a unbelievable and stupid rule. Was told I could not eat dinner with my sister and friends because she was under "21 and it was past 5 pm on a Monday". Meanwhile the other people I was with, myself included, are way over the age of 21. Really hope you don't consider yourself a "family restaurant". Also I hope this saves someone from driving all the way here to not even be able to sit down for dinner. Waste of time. read more

What has happened there?? My family has been going there for years and we have had one bad experience after another. From over cooked, dry small wings to nachos with burnt chicken on top to cold food. This place has really gone down hill and no one seems to care. It was always our go to place. There are too many other restaurants around for us to ever come back. What a shame! read more
