A flat skinny patty with a fishy taste and zero taste of crab. Worthless. One bite and out the window. The fish had a cod oil taste to it. One bite and both pieces out the window. The fried shrimp had more flour than shrimp, good portion. Ate them all, so at minimum they are eatable. But not worth 7 dollars. The last part was the fries. They are crinkle cut which is a plus. Huge portion. But tasteless. Ketchup barely helped the poor things. It's like the grease used to fry all this was not hot enough. None were crispy. A touch undercooked. Cost was 26 dollars. Waste of money.

I ordered a Chicken Sandwich, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Steak & Cheese, and a Fire Burger. The location can be easy to miss since it sits on a corner, but there's plenty of parking available. Inside, the staff was welcoming and helpful, which made the visit even better. My total came to about $34--very reasonable considering the quality. What stood out most is that the food is halal, GMO- and antibiotic-free, and made from scratch. That freshness really came through in the taste. We also received our order quickly, which was a big plus. Ambience is what is at places where fast food is served. Overall, this is definitely a spot I'll be returning to whenever I'm in the area.

I was in town when I first stopped by, and what started as a visit turned into spending the entire day with the staff. From that very first day, I felt something special. These wonderful people are no longer just restaurant staff to me -- they are family. Now, every month when I fly into town, I make it a priority to spend the entire day with my Down Home Comfort Cafe family. I love the atmosphere, the food, the conversations, and most of all, the people. I even enjoy talking with the customers and recommending different entrées. It feels like I'm coming home every time I walk through those doors. And let me tell you -- the soul food is absolutely incredible! The food is made with love, and you can taste that love in every bite. If you're looking for delicious, authentic soul food and an atmosphere where you're treated like family, look no further. In my opinion, the best soul food cafe is right here in Woodbridge, Virginia -- Down Home Comfort Cafe!

I love bread pudding, but this one just wasn't my favorite. It wasn't bad it just didn't quite hit the mark for me. The café itself is small, cozy, and welcoming. They have a small bar area, indoor seating, and a customer restroom that's tucked away in the back. When I stopped in, there were several people dining in, and it had a relaxed, homey atmosphere. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Down Home Cafe, especially if you're looking for a comforting brunch or a laid-back Sunday meal. I'll definitely be back for those chicken and waffles! Oh! This little jewel is located off Route 1 in Woodbridge near the Hendrick Honda dealership. I think it used be a Pizza Hut. ‍ Lots of clean seating inside (both barstool height tables and standard height). Cashier was super knowledgeable and helpful about their menu and customer favs. My family ordered a chicken sandwich combo, chicken and waffles, chicken tenders, fried okra, Korean nuggets combo, and 6 pc soy garlic wings combo and the total was just under $80. Family can't handle spicy so we did zero spicy for everything. The food came out steaming hot and fresh. Flavors on point for everything!! Each entree was probably enough to feed two people! Chicken and waffles are my fav along with their fired okra and French fries definitely a must try if you're in the area and feelin some tasty chicken!

That sounded crazy, so of course I had to see what the hype was about. The first time, I went with family and ordered the Sando combo at the Hot level. The second time, I went all the way and tried the Angry Hot. I didn't actually have to sign a waiver, but they did ask me if I was sure that was what I wanted, which made me wonder what I was getting myself into! Honestly, as someone who eats spicy food all the time, the Angry Hot wasn't that hot to me. It definitely has heat, but I was expecting much worse based on the warning. The sandwich itself is HUGE. The piece of chicken is so big that I can never finish the whole thing and usually end up splitting it with someone. I do wish the bun were a little bigger to match the size of the chicken, but the coleslaw and sauce really bring everything together and make the sandwich taste great. The waffle fries are probably the only thing I'm not a big fan of. The seasoning and saltiness just aren't for me. They taste better dipped in the sauce, but next time I'll probably skip the fries and try a different side. I did try the chicken and waffles and it is pretty good. The restaurant has been clean both times I've visited, and the staff have always been friendly and attentive. If you're having trouble deciding what to order, they're happy to give suggestions without being pushy. I'll definitely be back because I still want to try the wings, mac and cheese, and a few other things on the menu. Overall, good food, huge portions, friendly service, and a fun spice challenge. If you love spicy food, definitely give the Angry Hot a try and see if it's hot enough for you!

The chicken is nice and crispy, the sauce is more of a glaze so you get all the flavor without an overabundance of overly sticky sauce. I actually wish it were a bit spicier. My kids say it's their favorite fried rice, and I'd rank it pretty highly myself (as a fried rice lover and snob). It's certainly a great value for the price. My son also got one of their corn dogs with cheese in the center, but it wasn't as good as others he's had in the area. I haven't loved everything I've gotten there.
