Whenever we go out of town, and look for places to eat, I always hit the YELP reviews first. We…read moredon't get paid. We don't get kickbacks. We give honest to the bone reviews. Secondly, when I read the reviews, I always start with the not stellar ones and work my way up. Of 6 reviews, only one had a "1-star". Seems that the poster wasn't satisfied with the greens nor Mac-n-cheese. Interestingly enough, they said the service was great. Anyone who's read my posts knows that I'll eat a batter dipped flip-flop if it was served right! LOL Soooo .... The directions to the place were excellent. But if you weren't paying attention, you'd not notice that it was right on the corner of the liquor store. The place was cozy, very clean, with indoor and outside seating. That was nice because it was hot as a fire ant's tuchus in Cincinnati today. We sat inside and it was pretty cool (even without a/c). As the one-star reviewer posted, the customer service was GREAT. I asked about the fish and chips (I'm weirdly particular about my fish), and was very pleased with the response. They said I didn't have to get chips but can choose any two sides. I had greens and yams. Pimp had the grilled chicken salad. We waited a good bit (about 15 minutes). But as we waited, we got to watch them prepare our orders as well as the many others that were constantly coming in. This is a neighborhood hot spot, indeed. Everything coming out of that kitchen was looking like fire!!! (We made notes of things to try next time, like the Salmon Croquettes). The food came out and the first thing she did was show Pimp the fish to see if it looked to our satisfaction. (Again, GREAT service). The food was hot. Pimp says the salad greens were crisp and fresh and his grilled chicken was flavorful (they even asked him if he wanted bacon; of course he did). Now I gotta talk about these greens. No disrespect nor disparagement to the reviewer who said the greens tasted like they were from a can. I am a connoisseur of greens. I grew up in a house where canned greens were better than no greens at all. I know canned greens. The greens I got today were cooked from fresh (the texture is the tell-tale). The seasoning was spot on. No stems. Tender, yet with enough bite to let you know they were fresh (no matter how you doctor them, canned greens have a slickness to them that can't be masked.) That's not to say they don't or haven't served canned greens before (I know that in a pinch, I will get a can of "Glory" myself when I run short on a holiday). So my opinion is that the greens were fresh or someone has one helluva gift for hooking up canned greens! We're here for three days for a bowling tournament. Having seen that they do DoorDash, definitely gonna hit them again before we head back to D-town. BTW .... them yams. OMG. I could eat the greens, yams, and cornbread as a whole meal. I think that's what I'll have when we hit the road.

A total of 10 chicken fingers and came with fries, a slice of thick toast and coleslaw. The chicken fingers were super tender and moist. There was also a small container of dipping sauce. I really enjoyed the coleslaw. The portion size was good. We shared amongst the four of us (2 adults and 2 kids).

I used to go to Lucy's Diner often for lunch when I worked and lived on that side of town. The…read moreservice was always good, and the diner ambiance was nice. I would always order the chicken noodle soup for lunch. It was so comforting and delicious. Although I have not been there in a few years, I will say that I have yet to find a restaurant chicken noodle soup that compares to theirs.

It's a simple diner, which isn't a bad thing…read more While in the area, I wanted to find a diner for a quick bite. It was a Sunday and we were immediately told that they are Breakfast only on Sunday. I'm not certain if this is every Sunday or just that day, so keep that in mind. The service was fast and friendly. It wasn't very busy when we stopped in so we didn't have to wait on anything. I had ordered the Strawberry Pancakes. Not to be discouraging, but they weren't anything special. The cakes themselves were quite dense and heavy, so they filled you up easily. The strawberries on top were little to be desired. It was more of a strawberry jam that was put on top. Considering that a solid strawberry topping consists of a few minutes of cooking up fresh strawberries, sugar and water, I was disappointed with the topping. It truly is a bare bones diner. Nothing fancy, but that's okay. Good food and good service goes miles above anything else. They've got the service down perfectly. The only other thing that might be a helpful, yet discouraging, comment would be the front desk area. When you walk in, there is a front counter that you pay at. It's very visible and it's the first thing you see when you walk in. You see the counter and a fish tank right behind it. The state of the counter and the fish tank need work. The counter is cluttered and just looks dirty. Now, if this was an office in the back, so be it. My office is sometimes a cluttered mess. But this dusty cluttered mess is right in the front and center of this restaurant. I can't help but think what areas look like that I can't see. The fish tank would be a nice touch of ambiance however it too is pretty dank and dirty looking. If you're going to have it right there where everyone can see, you need to put a little effort into making it presentable. These may sound like harsh points, but they are honest observations. Would I go back? It's not very local to me, so probably not. But, if I was in the area, I would absolutely give Lucy's Diner another shot at lunch. I wasn't blown away during my first visit.

My colleague enjoyed her chicken wrap as well. Both portions were sizable and delivered quickly. Server Melissa was cheerful and kept our timeframe in mind as we stopped for lunch during work. Great spot with some flavors all their own. Manager checked on everyone in the restaurant as well, showing good engagement. The lunch specials are $9.99 which is a great deal in today's enrollments. Chicken wrap was $13.99 but she got two meals out of because of the portion size. Recommend!
