I think wings empire has gone down hill after the past couple years. It's still good. Their chipotle sauce is amazing and if you ask him for extra crispy fries if you get buffalo fries, it's really good. The staff is super nice and helpful. The place is clean. the ambience is kind of whatever it's a fast food place you know In-N-Out. I'm just not as excited as I used to be eating the chicken. I ordered 3 separate items. I waited 15 min but I'd prefer to wait for fresh food. My order was not checked before it was given to me, luckily, I checked it before leaving the parking lot. Two of my items were made incorrectly. I went back in to have them made correctly. Had to wait another 15 minutes, staff seemed unconcerned. When I was given the remade order, there was no apology of any sort. I then decided to check the order there on the spot again and one of the items was still wrong. Not sure about the negative reviews, but I had an excellent experience here. The food is very good and a much better value than their main wing competitor. I got the 10 piece chicken tender strips, comes with carrots and celery and some really good breadsticks and blue cheese, and even a drink. It's $4 cheaper than a similar package from a competitor. However, it has even more chicken plus a drink to boot, such a good value these days and very tasty. This was two separate occasions: 1. Apparently they stop taking orders over the phone at 8:30pm... which is when I started calling, no where does it say that and when I arrived to the place the cashier girl was on the phone and immediately put it away when I walked in. She said the machine automatically turns off the phone, it's crazy cuz I called a couple of times and it was ringing as if it was on and some of the times I kept being sent to voicemail 2. I ordered over the phone( as I always do) and asked for LARGE Buffalo Fries w a medium ranch( the girl was seemingly rushing me taking my order), asked for my name and I had someone pick it up for me. They arrived to the location, payed for the order and checked to see if the ranch was in there( because I always have to check since this happens multiple times) and it wasn't and yet I was charged for it. They let the cashier know and she immediately stated that I didn't order ranch... they showed her the receipt with the charge of ranch and said "oh! Well it has ranch in there anyways"( no it doesn't that's sauce, if it had it why would I pay extra for it?)and handed us the ranch side. This has happened multiple times that's why I always have to check, because they'll charge me for it but won't give me it. Just ripping people off left and right. Another thing, when you order the large they're really giving you medium portions( yes I've caught on, cheapskates). You're paying $3 extra for the same medium portion in a slightly different plate. The pictures below are proof. I was a long time customer here and all of these instances have only persuaded me to look for other alternatives. I go to "Buffalo Wing Star" now since I never have ran into any of these issues, the portions are fair for the price and I can order over the phone after 8pm. And I honestly don't mind driving a bit further since they've successfully met my needs. So save yourself the energy and don't go to Wings Empire. read more

Not what it used to be. I used to always buy Buffalo chicken fries from this place until they started what seemed to be deep frying their chicken. To me personally, it tastes like mini chicken nuggets. Today, however, knowing that I ordered but was extremely dissatisfied when I opened the box. They barely put any fries. The food from the ribs to the fries to the wings are so good. I've tried almost all the flavors and by far all of them were delicious and accurately listed on the heat scale. For what you get the price is very reasonable. I was eating with a table of 11 and we all got our food in under 20 mins of ordering. The staff were very hard working and friendly. I came down here for lunch the other day while my friends decided to go shopping. Wings Empire is located on the corner of Melrose Ave. and E. Orange Ave. in a separated section of the shopping plaza adjacent to an Asian supermarket. The seating area was mainly restricted to the outdoor patio area but you can also dine inside at one of the tables if requested and they will set up a table for you. The place was fairly busy with takeout orders rather than dine-in. I decided to go with a quick-combo of 10 pc. Hot and Garlic Parmesan with veggie sticks, fries, and a fountain drink. The outdoor patio was an inviting place to dine in and a great shaded spot for the sunny weather. The wait was reasonable, about 15 minutes considering the number of takeout orders the employees were working on. The wings were awesome. They were perfectly crisp and the right amount of spice for the hot. The Garlic Parmesan was excellent. It was made in the style of the hot wings with the garlic parmesan sauce added on top of that. It was an unusual way of preparing them but I found out from the girl at the front counter that it was made in error with the hot. It was actually a pleasant surprise for me. The garlic butter and the shredded parmesan cheese worked in tandem with the hot sauce flavor. The fries were also very good. They were cooked in a certain way where the texture was crispy, similar to pub fries called Brew City that I ordered at a sports bar in NC some years ago. In addition to the wings, other items of note on the menu include the Buffalo Chicken Fries (their most popular item on the menu and the first wing franchise to come up with this dish according to their website), Buffalo Chicken Stix (tossed in your choice of wing sauce with mozzarella cheese and topped with their secret recipe sauce...this one sounds really good), Buffalo Chicken Flautas (Buffalo chicken wrapped in crispy flour tortillas tossed with a choice of wing sauce), and the Heart Attack Burger (double every ingredient on a cheeseburger). I'll look forward to trying these out the next time I'm in town for a visit. read more

My husband and I decided to try this location out as we had a gift card. The lady taking our order was very helpful and super chill. We ordered the family bundle of 25 tenders, Buffalo chicken fries, and onion rings. We enjoyed the chicken. The tenders were meaty and had a nice chicken to breading ratio. They weren't overly sauced which was nice, although I tend to prefer extra sauce. The onion rings were only decent, but the Buffalo chicken fries were delicious! read more

This would have been 4 stars, but went down to 3. We went in and order Buffalo fries and an order of 10 wings (5 with the hot sauce and 5 lemon pepper). We were able to order right away and were given a 15-20 min wait. We had no problem with the wait time. After a while we are informed that there's no more lemon pepper seasoning, we opt for mango habanero. Again, no problem we understand they ran out and they were pretty busy. As we are waiting they decide to BLAST reggae music, it was so loud I couldn't hear my partner seating right beside me. Our order comes up and as we are walking out we overhear the cashier ask the cooks what sauces/seasonings they are out of. Cooks say lemon pepper, she proceeds to let them know there's some in the back pantry. Cooks essentially decided that if it wasn't within eyesight they were just out of it. Like I mentioned we had no problem switching our sauces, but after you hear that it was just laziness and they could've double check. I specifically came to this location for the lemon pepper wings. Our Buffalo fries were good and the wings couldn't used more flavor (hot sauce ones tasted good but mango habanero ones was a hit and miss). I have to say my recent visit to the old CV location by far has the best wings I've had in quite a while. My first visit to the location when they had just opened left me disappointed because every one of my wings had been way overcooked and so dry to the point I almost did not want to eat them. This visit was a different story. My order of wings had been cooked and sauced perfectly. They were covered with sauce, hot, and meshed perfectly with my blue cheese dipping sauce. I never see this location very busy, so getting your order completed quickly and to your table to enjoy is a plus. Will visit again when I'm in the area again. read more

Customer service girl was nice when taking our order, while manager/owner was breathing down her neck at the counter acting like he was looking at his phone, obviously monitoring the order and glancing at me and the order taker. Once the order was ready, they called our name to pick it up so I did. We were seated only 10 feet away and was curious why the order was not brought to our table. Upon opening our order we noticed we received only three sauces/dressing so went to the counter to request the fourth we were due. Manager/owner was again eavesdropping from halfway across the kitchen as the girl gave me the fourth dressing. From his position, without even knowing the situation, he tells the service girl, "They're only supposed to get four!" I butted in a said, "We only got three," and showed him the three when I walked back to our table. He didn't say anything. I think he should have apologized to nice girl. Atmosphere was okay, but trying to watch Bellatore fights on nearest TV were difficult to watch with a ceiling light hanging right in front of it. Small joint, big flavor! My wife and I needed some quick food before heading out to TJ for our flight. We wanted to score some chicken wings and this was the place to be. Ordered about 15 wings plus some onion rings and the "world famous" buffalo chicken fries. The wings were sticky and smothered in sweet mango habanero, BBQ, and Buffalo reach with bold flavors. I preferred the Mango habanero with that hint of spice, although all were good. The onion rings were over battered for my taste and the Buffalo chicken fries were really rich and was a bit Overkill but I think by that time we had already eaten most of the chicken wings. They opened up a spot in PB recently, so I had it bookmarked, but didn't realize that they have several locations in southern California already. This chain has some pretty good wings! I tried the boneless barbecue wings and the buffalo chicken wings. They also come with veggie (carrots and celery) sticks, like most places do. Since I didn't choose the sauces, the ones I had were alright. The buffalo wings were standard and the BBQ ones were really sweet- I wanted rice to balance it out LOL. They offer many different types of sauces, so I wouldn't mind trying the mango habanero and lemon pepper next time! read more

Super bummed. I've come here for years because I like their wings, but last night was just the end of it. I made an order a bit late, came home and my wings were undercooked there was even blood on them. I tried calling their store but they were closed so no luck in that. I love the chicken fries here and have been here multiple times. Unfortunately I have to give it only two stars because the customer service is horrible! My husband and I always get BBQ chicken fries with chipotle. This time they decided to make it with buffalo sauce. I took it back and told them the issue and they refused to take it back or remake it and insisted that it was honey barbecue sauce. I even told them I tasted it and it was definitely buffalo sauce. To be very clear on this, I'm a fan of this restaurant. I love ordering here when it comes to their Chipotle Buffalo Fries that are above Mild in spicy flavor, and when it comes to the ordering online they've been consistently delivering.... Until recently. The last few orders I've had with this restaurant has switched out for items of 'equivalent value' with no warning on my end. What really prompted this particular review was one such instance where I had ordered Shrimp Tacos for my grandmother, and I usually order the 'Empire Hot' flavor for my Chipotle Buffalo Fries... I was surprised when my flavor was lowered, and that the replacement item for the Shrimp Tacos, was the Shrimp Buffalo Fries. My grandmother has a good spice tolerance, and immediately ejected the shrimp she tried from that meal item... When tasting it myself, it turned out it was the 'Empire Hot' level! That's a fairly massive mistake and would've led to issues right there if my grandmother kept eating that item! So I highly encourage the restaurant to make better efforts in updating their delivery platforms for when they're out of items, and attempt to give disclosure for items replacement and other options.
