Regional airports normally are not on my radar when it comes to looking for a breakfast joint but my mom and dad took us here after hearing good things about it. The cafe is a laid back, little place tucked into one of the airport's wings. The room has large floor to ceiling windows which means lots of natural light and the chance to watch airplanes come and go while enjoying your dining experience. Service was super friendly and on top of things. The kids really enjoyed watching the hustle and bustle of the planes which allowed for the adults to enjoy our food and conversations. Foodwise, the breakfast menu is pretty solid. Good Americana diner fare. The menu highlighted some tried and true Minnesota classics like wild rice porridge (manoomin), walleye, and blueberry pancakes. The pancakes are thick and soak up syrup like a sponge while the omelettes and breakfast platters come with golden crisp hashbrowns cooked to perfection. Best bang for your buck would be the large caramel or cinnamon rolls. Huge roll for only $3.95. Not a bad place with good service and a unique setting. Also tried and true to its central Minnesota roots so a great place for tourists to stop to sample some iconic Minnesota dishes. read more

I was flying in the area and decided to stop in for lunch. It was Friday so they had a fish special. I had two pieces of cod with chips (fries for the Americans). It was very tasty and the service was good. read more

Waitress was *very* condescending in explaining my order to me. She could have asked for clarification about what I wanted in so many different ways. I ordered an eggs Benedict with a side of bacon and the menu did not list that it came with hashbrowns so I got confused. She gave me ONE chance to understand it before she talked down to me like I was stupid. She seems confused I was ordering bacon with it. The way I was treated felt targeted as she was extremely sweet to the next tables over from us and the other guests I was with. I think she knew because she turned the "nice" factor up to ten afterwards. Otherwise, the food was good. And I enjoyed my side of bacon. But not worth an interaction like that again. read more

Awesome breakfast great choice all homemade breads and cinnamon rolls large portions ! Service is great !

This place is a hidden gem for most people in the Brainerd Lakes area. It is attached to the airport (excellent spot to grab something before or to take onto your flight) with tons of free parking. It looks like an updated diner with big windows that let you watch the airfield. The food is mostly scratch cooking with homemade breads, cinnamon rolls, and desserts. Think classic breakfast and lunch foods that taste homemade for fair prices. I love their egg dishes, corned beef (house made) hash, and their French toast (sometimes made from caramel rolls), and the local Manoomin porridge (thing amazing oatmeal merges with granola.) For lunch, think traditional sandwiches and burgers (which are way above average). For dinner things like meatloaf but also Walleye ans BBQ Ribs which both are supposed to be good (that's second hand info, since I haven't been there for dinner yet. ) Classic and friendly service and fair prices (particularly for an airport or the whole Brainerd area). Eat here if you are flying or even if you're not. read more

Excellent food at an airport?! YES, but you have to go to Brainerd! All four of us had an excellent breakfast-from Walleye Benedict, Omelet, Eggs, and my fav of all time: MANOOMIN! It's a hot wild rice porridge that is wonderfully delish! This is a great cafe (from the food to the service) and we can watch airplanes & choppers on the active runway. I made the mistake of ordering the S'mores dessert-it was so rich & filling that I had to force my friends into helping me finish it-perfect with a hot coffee! One other thing-it's really an inexpensive meal-at an airport! Locals come here to eat-even when they are not flying out.... read more

Wonderful to have good food at an airport. Menu has TONS of options, with breakfast available all the time, and a nice selection of lunch options to top it off. I got the turkey melt and coleslaw. I recommend both, but I really thought the coleslaw was unique, creamy, and delicious. The bread on the sandwich was fantastic, and when I asked for bread options I had her stop around number 6, so there is definitely something for everyone. I sat at the counter and service was good, and the food came out extremely fast and was piping hot (as apporpriate), and very fresh tasting. If you happen to be flying a private plane into the FBO next door, you also get a discount on your fuel purchase if you eat at the restaurant. My discount pretty much covered my meal, so that was a big bonus! read more

Great food, great service, especially breakfast. They also have amazing bakery goods.

We found out about this place at a jewelry class run by Tiffany at Peace and Pottery (check out her business - she rocks!) Obviously, as a city slicker, I was skeptical about an airport restaurant but Wings quickly changed my mind (Plus one of my favorite shows was Wings back in the day). Everyone loved it. I had breakfast - the kielbasa was splendid but the highlight was the caramel roll. Run don't walk to go and try it. There's no way I can replicate that at home. Our friends had the shepherds pie and loved it. The blueberry pancakes were a hit, too. Another great spot in Brainerd!! read more

Very nostalgic but appears newly remodeled and everything was very clean. I was shocked to see a full service restaurant in such a small airport. They have a dining counter and several tables. My flight was at 600 am so it was great to have a spot to sit and grab a fast breakfast. The service was great and food was better than any airport food I have had and is good as an old fashioned small town cafe. I would stop again and grab a meal or snack. read more

Pleasant diner atmosphere with a nice view of the planes. Unfortunately the tables were unclean and there was food on the floor. Waitress was only there to take the order. Food was served by the cook. I have had lunch there twice and both times the food was good but the lack of cleanliness concerns me. read more

Always fresh good. Love their Rubens and I love their caramel rolls. They also have great breads you can buy by the loaf.

I stopped in before my flight @ 5am Monday morning mid February 2022 for breakfast. I had not been in the restaurant for over a year. I was amazed at the total restaurant makeover! Really gives you the cafe vibe with 12 new tables and new chairs and a new layout. They have a full bakery with large display case of goodies and packaged bread to go. For Breakfast was a mushroom and cheese omelette. It was delivered quick and hot. It hit the spot to start my day. Wait staff was friendly and spot on. Definitely recommend Wings Cafe. read more

Classic diner experience, very welcomed when our flight was delayed. Wild rice blueberry pancakes were absolutely delicious and as hearty as they sound. Tasty sausage gravy with fluffy biscuits also a pleaser. Waitress deserves her own reality show to remind us all that these sweet people still exist and show up early to serve with a smile. read more

Did not honor coupon that Waitress said was good to use. Cashier pointed out it was valid only after 3pm. This was after we had finished our meal. Font was very small and at bottom of card. Even waitress missed it. I feel this was dishonest and we were tricked. Not sure if we will return. read more

Was at the airport for a flight exam. Of course I needed to get a bite to eat to make sure I had the energy to get through the exam. The wife and I decided to eat here since it was convenient. We were not disappointed. Food was tasty and fresh. I settled for Breakfast Americana while the missus went for an omelet. The bread was hearty and fresh. Very filling. The omelet was top notch too. Above all the service was very good. Kimmy was quick to make sure our cups were never low on coffee and water. She smiled and welcomed everyone as though they were old friends and we were at her house. And if you were wondering. I aced the exam...... read more

Did you ever watch "Wings" on NBC with Rebecca Schull? It's kinda like that. Subtly decorated with angels and butterflies and orchestrated by the hilariously sweet Drill-Sargent Kimmy, this quaint restaurant overlooking the Brainerd airport and contained within the sophisticated confines of Northpoint Aviation is a gem. Locals go out of their way to experience their breakfast service. An endangered species and rarely seen in this day-and-age sublime homemade corned beef hash is served up with two perfectly cooked eggs-over-easy, the way God always meant it to be. Their Eggs-Benedict is also perfect, with 1/4" thick slices of divine smoked ham. Hash browns with onions are crisp and flavorful. And if you are lucky enough to have Kimmy as your no-nonsense, delightfully witty server, it will be a perfect morning for both breakfast and plane watching. read more

My favorite place for breakfast and lunch! Mark and Kimmy are the best! Mark makes some of the best home style cooking around and Kimmy tops it off with an experience next to none! Really tasty food and the waitstaff were very friendly. Our server was super nice and gave excellent advice on some of the special menu items. My companion and I both ended up with Reuben sandwiches which were just about as close to perfect as one could ask for. The outer edge of the bread was perfectly crusty and the meat and cheese and thousand island dressing were in perfect proportions. Super fun place to fly into from the twin cities and not that long of a flight. The runways are in great shape and parking for planes is steps away from the restaurant. Definitely planning on a return visit. read more

Flew to Brainerd Airport this morning. Had just enough time to order a ham and cheese sandwich while the airplane was being refueled. It was great! Wings Airport Café is located in the General Aviation building at the airport. Even if you are not flying, this little café is a hidden gem. On several occasions in the past, I have had breakfasts there. Always tasty. The cheeseburgers are fabulous too! read more

While you'd never guess it for an airport cafe, this is one of the best breakfast spots in Brainerd. All food is fresh and cooked to order, and they have some great gems on the menu. I recommend the blueberry wild rice pancakes, these are a tasty chewy plate sized pancake with a satisfying wild rice crunch. The staff are all friendly and knew us by name after just one visit, they are very welcoming to our kids too. It's fun having breakfast in the airport too as there is a great view of the runway and service areas. Our kids get a real kick out of watching the planes take off and land. Please note: the menu shown on this site is out of date. I think the cafe may have changed hands since that was put up. Stopped in here on our way through town, we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and the friendly service. The brisket hash was fantastic. Homemade with big hunks of tender brisket and crispy potatoes. Get it with poached egg and hollandaise sauce. You pay extra, but it is so worth it. Eggs Benedict is also fantastic. The portions are huge and can easily be shared. Our waitress was a hoot! We will definitely stop by again. read more

A fine menu with many home cooked goodies. I had the chef salad and it was crisp fresh and tasty. Friendly service too!

Best Ruben around! Very pleased with the food. Every time I've been there it's been pretty slow and relaxed, but it's been around 130 or 2pm. Fun to watch the activity outside with the airplanes. Fast WiFi as well. I will be going back again and telling all my friends. Prices are really reasonable too. read more

Wings must be the best kept secret in the Brainerd area. The food is all homemade, including the bread, and is high quality. The breakfasts (available until closing) are exceptionally good. We have tried a number of lunch entrees and everything has been top drawer. We would highly recommend Wings to anyone looking for top quality homemade food. read more

First off the food is amazing...it was our new "GO TO" spot, not to mention the prices are quite reasonable. But I refuse to have such bad service for such good food. Over Mother's Day they were quite busy and it is understandable that they are not as accommodating with customer service. Today, a Thursday approx 9am we walked in and there were only 2 other tables. The service began fine...but before we had all of our food brought to our table we were trapped in a corner with 4-5 other tables pushed together and approx 15 people occupying them. Not to mention when my husband asked Kimmy for a refill as she was delivering the other food items she responded with "IF I have time"! IF???, you have time??? I realize she was probably a bit overwhelmed with the group that had just rolled in, but we are just as important as they are. We were NEVER checked on to see if we needed anything or to see if we needed more drinks. We finished our meals and squeezed out of our table by the window and corner ( sat there so our 2 young girls could watch the planes come in and out, and be out of the way since they tend to be active). My older son needed a drink so when we went up to pay he asked for a refill since the drink machine is right by the cash register, Kimmy responded to him "I have other things going on right now, you can see that can't you? Umm, we are part of the other things...not to mention we had arrived first and got treated the worst. Needless to say, at this point I have no intentions of going back. I am disappointed because the food is that good, but I refuse to have an Owner/Waitress treat me, the paying customer, with such a lack of interest and with a SNIPPY attitude just beacuse she is the only waitress and her husband/cook/owner is in the kitchen. She needs to be less rude when she is busy, and give all her customers the same quality of attentiveness. read more
