    Our pasta station

What a fun experience! My husband and I just got back from Italy and we were feeling inspired to make homemade pasta so we signed up for a pasta making class here. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. The cooking studio was so clean and open and spacious. The chef was so informative and talked us through all the steps and encouraged us. It was so much fun to make the pasta and then eat it right after! So fresh and delicious! After our class we decided to give our parents a class as a Christmas gift. They made cavatelli and loved it as well. I would definitely try another class

This will (technically) be my first review of 2020 as I visited wineUdesign once the calendar page turned to this doubled-up year. This is also (technically) my first gold badge review so I wanted to make it memorable. And while we're at it, I (technically) enjoyed an experience here that had little to do with wine. How so? Well within the walls of wineUdesign is an entire kitchen setup and the other aspect of the spot: The Cook's Studio. Here's where my girlfriend and I fixed up an edible storm last Friday night. You see, it was a gift for the lady and one that was truly memorable, and pretty tasty I might add. I mean what wouldn't be memorable (and delicious) when it involves tacos? Yep, that's what we made, everyone's favorite Mexican handheld. But don't start thinking things were that simple. We basically began from scratch, mixing our own flour tortilla dough, braising chicken in a wonderful chipotle and sofrito sauce, chopping up vegetables that we doused in vinegar for a little pickled taste, and concocting fresh guacamole to round out our meal. Oh, we did also fry up those tortillas ourselves, just sayin'. We were our very own Taco Bell, except the quality was legit! What also was legit was, well, more of a who. Chef Victor (or perhaps Guy Fieri's doppelgänger) was a true gem of the evening. Super fun, friendly, and personable. He spent the first chunk of time explaining everything that goes into our cooking and then running through each step, start to finish. I must say, watching all the processes we were going to have to then perform ourselves left us a little apprehensive, but having Chef Victor there (and his assistant, Chef Gina) to guide us along (as well as our handy paper recipes), made the job that much more enjoyable (and just about stress free). Did I say free? Well I can't completely commit to there not being any wine drinking that night as we were given a complimentary glass when we first arrived as well as continued refills throughout the evening (if desired). The most interesting part was that these wines were formulated and created by wineUdesign, right within its walls. For that actual aspect you'll have to read other people's reviews, but the thought of physically being able to develop your own wine from grape to bottle sounds pretty amazing. And hey, the flavors of their wine, from what we tasted, were perfecto. Overall, The Cook's Studio and/or wineUdesign creates a totally awesome experience. For the semi-reasonable price ($75 a person), you'll enjoy a truly unique night of cooking and make enough food (at least with the taco class) to last you a couple of meals along with plenty of wine to wash it all down. And hey, if tacos aren't your thing (somehow), there's oodles of other classes you can take, from sushi to pasta making and everything in between. My lady and I are already discussing which one we might want to do next. Until then, just know this was technically (okay, actually) a great evening I'd recommend to anyone.

Burrata and Mozzarella with a side salad

Wine U Design hosts cooking classes for The Cook's Studio Cooking class: Barata and Mozzarella LOVED IT!! So much fun. We went as couple and had a great time. Going with a group of friends would be a blast!!! They include wine tasting while you cook. Such a nice treat. You get to eat your own masterpiece when you are done cooking and plenty to take home. There's so many meals to choose from. We selected barata and mozzarella making. Included in this package was a tomato salad and olive pesto. We plan on returning to cook other dishes. Our host Vic is so personable and knowledgeable. Chef Mick is a great chef instructor. Thomas knows his wine. He takes the time to explain the wine and its process while he is pouring. Extremely organized activity and clean facility, (they made sure you have everything at your station) and lots of fun. Would recommend this for a fun interactive evening with great friends and food.

This place is awesome. We are halfway through making our barrel of wine. Can't wait for the final product in a year..but damn we have been having so much fun along the way. Its a really great way to spend time with friends and family. Vincenzo is awesome. He helped us customize our wine to our exact likes. Can't wait for the first bottle. We are also making a half barrel of Amerone..one of our favorites wines. Steph and the entire staff truly know how to have a great time and thanks for indulging this crazy wine loving family.

We met Vincenzo the owner, Thomas & Eric the wine makers and the very friendly lady (sorry don't remember you name) who checked us in and helped with the blending.

I've taken 2 wine classes (wine 101) and I'm already looking to take the Wine 202 class…read more This is my type of wine class because: - It's located near Midtown Manhattan - The instructor is really chill - You are given different games to play which helps you remember the different wines and information about them - There's a variety of wines - There is no spit bucket (so chances are you'll get lit) - It's an open space so you get to meet other wine lovers Both wine classes I've taken have been on Fridays because you do tend to get a wee bit tipsy testing all of the wines. I first learned of the class through Groupon so I suggest looking there first if you are interested in taking a class here but either way if you interested in learning how to differentiate between the age of wines, the percentage of wines and practice your sense of smell (to determine what's in the wine) this place is for you.

We took the WineO 101 class on a Friday night, and boy was it a good time. The teacher and owner of…read morethe company, Mark, was clearly very knowledgeable of his craft, and his love for what he does is apparent. Students of the class are allowed to enter the rooms 10 minutes before the start of the class. The emails they sent out before the class stated that the class starts promptly at the scheduled time. We started about 7 minutes after the scheduled time, which I actually didn't mind because it gave us a chance to talk to our new friends were seated with. We had the chance to listen to Mark talk about wines, taste 5 different wines along with 4 different cheeses and some cured meat, as well as ask Mark questions we had about wine. We also played a few games for a small prize (drawstring bag with the WineO Club logo on it). It was a really fun way to spend a Friday night. The reason for the 4-star review and not a 5 is because Mark spoke wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too fast. My whole group had trouble keeping up with the information he was sharing, and it was a little annoying because we were all there to learn about wines. The class was supposed to be 2 hours long, but start to finish, it was closer to 1.5 hours, so I'm not sure what the rush was. Definitely not a dealbreaker, and I would definitely go back for another class, but I sure do hope they slow it down next time.

Wine Classes!…read more Squabbie and I took our first wine class at NYC Wine Class. We enrolled in their introductory to wine course, Wine 101. Andrew Harwood (the founder) was our instructor. He's had experience cultivating wine graps in Hungary, France, and California, to name a few places. He was quite informative and helpful. On top of our dessert wine, we had full glasses of 10 different types of wine. The grape variety for the wines included Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, & Malbek. The wine regions included Oregon, California, Argentina, Italy, and France. The prices of the bottles and their Wine Spectator ratings aren't revealed until after the wines are tasted, as to not provide a bias. There are five rounds of wines pairings, accompanied by a type of cheese. The wine pairings are selected to distinguish the contrasting tastes (e.g. comparison of regions, comparison of vineyard processing, or comparison of grape varieties). The class was a great introduction, and has whetted my desire to learn more about wines. If taken individually, the class would have cost $90, but Squabbie purchased the $275 four class promo package (good for 2 years and splitable amongst friends). I HIGHLY recommend this package (http://www.nycwineclass.com/wine_classes.php#256). I delayed taking this for half a year, I can't believe I waited so long! I can't wait for my next class.
