Guilt by association. Well in the case of alcohol, I'm constantly going to liquor stores because of the group I'm with. We were getting prepared for our Super Bowl party and needed vodka. So my friend's wife made us get a bottle. We made the trip to the store and it didn't take long. Walking in I was instantly surprised with how organized it was. They had a huge selection that was priced well. My friend must be a pro in the store because he knew exactly were to go to find the vodka. It was on sale. My friend was very pleased by this. We grabbed the biggest bottle they had and went to the counter. I was completely impressed with the guy at the counter as well. He was very welcoming. We split the cost (were is I can't understand why I pay when I don't drink?) and we left. I definitely feel if you're a drinker and live in Syosset, you should definitely make the trip here. read more

I had a very bad experience with their Bordeaux futures offering. I placed a futures order for 6 x 2015 Giscours in May of 2017 and received a written receipt for this futures order. The wine was supposed to arrive in the Spring of 2018. By early December 2018 I had not heard from Post or received my order so I called them. After a run-around and not getting an answer to where my wine was, I went into their retail store. I was told that they did not have the wine but would get it.This did not happen and I never got a follow-up call or apology from them regarding this issue. Had I known their futures offerings were bogus, I would have gone elsewhere to a more professionally run firm. Overall I would say this is the worst and most amateurish way to run a wine store I have ever encountered. With so many other great wine retailers, I am taking my business elsewhere. read more

This place is a nice place to find a good bottle of wine in for a nice occasion. The owner is knowledgable and once helped me track down a nondescript wine with a trade name carried by J Lohr.. which I simply had to find and have again. It was a somewhat inexpensive red had on my birthday at a small Italian place on the upper west side of NYC. He located the parent name and made it possible to find.. Funny thing.. that year it was chosen just after my own quest.. as the red for the academy award night (girlfriend attended) and it was listed in the paper. I knew I was onto a great production in a plain lable. It was the quintessential red wine... the best. You can get a good champagne here too. When it comes to Liquor stores one is pretty much the same as the next. But when it comes to wine stores they are not all created equal. Post Wine has the best selection of wines i have ever seen. If they don't have it they can get it for you, But chances are they have it. The store is huge, And the sales staff is amazing, extremely knowledgeable about the products they sell. I have been in there many times asking for recommendations and they have never steered me wrong. When it comes to win I highly recommend Post Wines. I give it 5 stars. read more

I have been patronizing Post W&S for many years. I have ordered a few cases, of which they were spot on with delivery time and pricing to be fair. The employees are VERY knowledgeable and have always greeted me when I enter the store, even if they had to say excuse me to the person that they were ringing up. I love being greeted right away upon entrance, makes you feel like the establishment CARES. I don't like to buy cheap wine and my normal wine purchase is from $40+ per bottle, that comes out to $10 per glass or more, which it is at most restaurants for their $5 per bottle house wine. I truly cannot drink cheap wine, though there are some bargains at $20-30 per wine, they are hard to find. Anyway...... Without fail a nice employee (last time it was a tall gentleman) will come up and ask if they can be of assistance in choosing something. Of course, I don't really need the help, but one day I might. The most recent experience I had also included the counter person asking if I wanted them gift wrapped. A nice, attractive & personable shortish blond haired young woman. I told her I was going to go slam them down in my truck in the back parking lot and was treated with a laugh and a hearty "ENJOY!". Definitely worth going out of your way to check this place out. Never a bad experience here in almost 15 years of visits. If you are looking for a good selection of American Cabernets, Italian wines & french wines this is a great spot. I think they could DOUBLE their PINOT NOIR section, at least the AMERICAN pinot noir section, but that will come with time. read more

I returned a bottle of wine today that was most likely corked. It absolutely turned and when I brought the bottle in the man who I assumed is the owner asked if I would like the same Barolo I said sure. After some searching they don't have it and he tells me my bottle was $40.00 and I ask for a suggestion. I follow him to the Italian red section and he suggests a wine priced at $44.99 He says here you go just pay the balance $5.00 at the counter. I did of course and as I left said to myself terrible way to handle a customer and I most likely won't return. He had an opportunity to strengthen a relationship with a client and his pettiness most likely cost him in the long run. Hope he reads this and learns from his mistake. read more

I will not be shopping here again as the employees I spoke with had no idea what they were talking about. Yesterday I called Post Wine & Spirits to ask them if they sold a dry red Lambrusco and told them I will be using it to cook with. The employee told me that they had the wine and to come by the store. I drove a half an hour out of the way farther east from where I live to pick it up, and when I arrived, the employee brought me to their "sweet sparkling" Lambrusco. I told him, as I did before on the phone, that I wanted the more popular dry red wine. He then told me they don't sell that and tried to convince me I can cook risotto di Lambrusco with sparkling red. Ok, no. After I politely declined, he handed me a $9 Pinot Noir and told me this is just as good. Well, I could have bought a $9 Pinot Noir without driving a half an hour out of my way on a Friday night. read more

They have a great selection of wine and are very knowledgeable, especially Mike Douglas, an owner who's been our go to person since we started shopping with them. They also have a very respectable liquor selection with competitive pricing all around. The staff is courteous and pleased to help. If you need something delivered it's never a problem. They have a great variety of wine & liquors. However they have received a one star rating because they refused to sell two bottles of the same tequila for some reason to my husband and I. They stated that they cannot sell two bottles to the same household. This is absolutely absurd. Although, I was to pay cash for the second bottle to change the payment method if needs be. This type of attitude will definitively affect the business in a negative manner. read more

Moved from Queens recently and I've been looking for a place that has a selection like some of the bigger liquor stores I would go to. Whatever you do, do not order from their website. I asked three people who I work with for their favorite alcohol so that I could buy them an end-of-project gift. I ordered on-line with Post Wine and Spirits, almost two months before the event. A month later I called to ask what had happened to my order, and was told that they didn't actually have one of the bottles I had ordered, and had to get it elsewhere. They promised to get right on that and contact me as soon as they had. Two full weeks later, having received no emails or voice messages, let along wine, I called again, and was told that they would have to call me back. Several hours later they called and told me that their supplier didn't have it, either. They offered me an alternative bottle that would take another 10 days to reach them, plus whatever shipping it took to reach me. That would be well beyond the point I had said goodbye to some of the people the bottles were intended for. They offered no discount or expedited shipping. When I cancelled my order, after having made me wait for a month and a half, they simply said that they were sorry that they couldn't help me. Obviously, it was partially my fault for having waited so long to hound them. But in this day and age, I have gotten used to internet merchants acting like professionals, not like hobbyists who think that they are doing you a favor by shipping you the product you ordered when they happen to have it and when they happen to remember. If you don't have the bandwidth to run an online storefront, don't open one. read more

Used mail order and this place is a joke. I am by no means a experienced wine drinker, however, I do know there are a few things to know and look for n a wine. Things like varietal, region, producer and of course vintage. So when I purchase a wine from a place I am supposed to believe is reputable, I expect a minimum level of knowledge from the proprietor. I spent $120, not much mind you, on the "last remaining bottles" of a 2010 vintage. I liked this wine so much I purchased what I could from any online vendor who showed they had stock. 1 vendor had what he showed and shipped it. Another didn't and emailed me to see if they could substitute vintages, I declined. Post? Nope, Post wines just threw a 2011 in the box and called it a day. I guess I should have read the web page closer because this is NORMAL business for Post unless YOU tell them otherwise. The other part of this is that I tried to contact them 3 times before contacting my credit card company. I was willing to pay to return it as it was my fault for not reading their fine print. They NEVER tried to contact me back, but wasted no time in fighting my credit card dispute. So if you don't care what you are drinking and like being treated like you don't matter, then shop here. I will be taking my business to others that care about wine and customers. As for you Post wines...nice job! You fooled me out of $120....and lost thousands on repeat business! read more

I bought two bottles of wine from this place - I bought a bottle of wine - the Ruffino Chianti Classico that I have bought several times in that past - opened the bottle and it tasted like it had been watered down - completely no taste or body - so I opened the next bottle of Malbec and it to was disgusting - foul taste and was a see through red - which if you know Malbec are not !! Was never given any replacement, but was promise reshipment once it was restocked. Month and half later, No shipment, no phone call, no email reply. After disputing the credit card charge, finally got reply. Was give the same tracking number and state items were shipped. Out the money and mess-up my holidays season. These guys are very good. They have really good selection of wines and spirits with reasonable prices. The one thing that took me by surprise was a small fridge of Asian drinks, something that is not usually present in most places I've gone to. All bottles were unquestionably severely flawed. Undrinkable. All had to be poured down the kitchen sink. Contacted owner who was defensive and did not offer even a remote apology. This was a great shop for many years, especially for Bordeaux buffs but for all wine lovers. Some time ago the shop was purchased by an Indian fellow and now it would be lucky to be a shadow of it's former self. The entire objective now is to buy low and sell to the consumer high.
