I had a temporary debit card and needed a second to get a credit card to use but she became a nuisance saying she couldn't sell to me because it didn't have a chip saying we need a chip because there was identity theft... I said give me a minute obviously looking for another card. She was just obnoxious. I'm a stranger and came in a jolly mood. I shouldn't have to have to interact with someone in customer service acting unnecessary rude and randomly implying I might be doing identify theft?! Who needs bars when you have Save-Rite? I know if I lived in Brooklyn I'd be here getting my bottle service on all the time. It's no Bev-Mo, but certainly an upgrade over the usual crop of liquor stores in the borough Like anywhere in Greenpoint, Save-Rite is a rather small store. Not to fear, their inventory of popular brands is stellar and they have a fair share of independent spirits and other non mainstream beverages as well. The prices are fair and the service is nothing short of awesome. How awesome is the service? I once needed some booze for a little shindig and I agreed to get a case of some fine Canadian Whisky, to which I paid over the phone and they had it all waiting for me curbside before I even showed up. Their guys loaded it for me and did it with a smile. So much for heavy lifting. I wish I could say the same for most other booze retail spots, but they've got it going on. This is a good liquor store in the Greenpoint area of Brooklyn. I go here during the holidays after I just brought a boat load of goodies from the bakeries and meat markets of "Little Poland." They have pretty much everything you need...you know the usual suspects: wines,whiskey,bourbon,rum and vodka. Nice staff and always leave happy. read more

Save-Rite, Wines 4 Today, White Star- these are all names you can call 907 Manhattan avenue. But what you cant call it, is gowno. Jerry is the best, the Wine maven of Manhattan ave, the Greenpoint Grenache God-If you are interested- his strong points of conversation include vodka, customer service and Mitsubishi 3000GT's. Also, its the most lively of all liquor stores in Greenpoint. Dont be intimidated by the Poles hanging out in here, rather, join in! And YES hipsters, if you are wondering what they are talking about in Polish, its either making fun of you and your cheap whiskey selection OR the Pianist (we like art too!) so no matter what you can add your two sense and take that last step to fully integrate into the neighborhood. The list usually goes like this 1. Try all bodegas, find the right one (God Bless) 1a. Finally get past the amazingly strong odor emitted from a meatshop and walk in fully and order something by pointing and other hand motions. 2. Formerly known as the Greenpoint Wine Shop, this store has a wonderful selection of wines from all over the world. Not just the famous name, but also more typical offerings. I am particularly impressed by their French and Latin American collection. They offer tasting on most Saturdays, and if you have any question, they are very helpful. Great place to pick up good spirits. The store is small but it has one of the best scotch selections I've seen in New York. I tracked down two harder to find bottles on their website and placed an order for pickup. Getting to Greenpoint was a bit of a hike and I was disappointed when I got there and one of the bottles was out of stock. To their credit, they were very friendly and offered to ship out the bottle for free. Someone from the website reached out to me and I had the bottle in hand two days in later. read more

I have been coming to this location since I've been legal, so for four years. However my family, especially my parents, have been coming to this location much longer than me. My mom specifically knows a few of the workers and owners. I give this store a lot of business, however that is all coming to an end. The workers are just nasty and rude. They do not care about their customers, only about making money. There is nothing wrong with wanting to make money, but you're in the service industry, you need to be nice to your customers. I've given them many chances. I am always nice to them. I'm over it. Happily never coming here again. read more

This is a review for their website, not for their actual store which I know nothing about. The company is completely incompetent at web ordering. I placed an order, and their system said my shipping address did not match the credit card company (even though the address is typed in EXACTLY as on my statement). I called them up and spent a half hour on the phone with them. They repeatedly tried to get the order to go through, and kept telling me to try again. Eventually, their system locked me out. The charges were all accepted from the bank as they show up on my online statement as pending charges. I couldn't even try a new credit card number as I was locked out. Their only response was try again tomorrow and cross your fingers and maybe it might work. I place a lot of other internet shopping orders and have never had a problem before. And it is not a problem with my credit card, as the charges did show up as pending, and their system just said there was an address mismatch. Maybe its good that the are trying to be secure, but given their incompetence I would never trust placing an order with them. read more

With all that "support local stores" stuff - I am shopping there for more around 13 years, not really every week, but pretty frequent, I know all the faces in there. Prices are high comparing to, for example, store on McGuinness and Meeker, but they are local. Are they ? Today I forgot my wallet, but had a checkbook - was just to write tax checks, so I asked if I can pay 39 bucks for a bottle of Cognac. "We do not take personal checks". I rarely leave reviews but thought this was necessary because the service was so good. I purchased 6 bottles of bourbon from the website and since it was over $400 I had to supply my ID and credit card to prove this was a valid charge. This is good for me but also protects the business so they can continue to give great deals and provide shipping. After providing the communication I was informed about when shipped and provided the tracking information so I knew when it would arrive. Christol made a change and provided an update. The items arrived today in better shape than anything I have ever received when ordering liquor or wine online and I do order often as living in Atlanta, many things become unavailable quickly. I belong to several 'clubs' and while never breaking anything they could learn a ton from this order. I'm sure it could have been dropped off the truck and been ok. Urgh these guys are the worst. Unless you are a Polish man, they treat you like an idiot and are unhelpful. When I have actually gotten to ask someone questions, they have not been helpful or knowledgeable. If I absolutely need a bottle of booze right away, I'll go here, but would rather go anywhere else.
