The day started off by Tom picking us up at Pechanga with another group the Aguilera Family (awesome family). Went to three winerys and on the second one Tom made us home made lunch. I'm really getting sick of reading Tom 's emails, text, and yelp messages of how much he prides himself on his reputation and integrity. I ask, would someone with integrity post on his Facebook business page that the group I set up bailed on him and shrug it off by saying that it's all good. This is the type of business that only looks out for their own best interest. For example claiming they will take you off the beaten path when they can't even get you out of the parking lot. And then get frustrated that we didn't deal with it. I'm sorry but who would feel comfortable to trust a tour in which you're going to pay a premium price for that doesn't start off smoothly. The whole point is he did not handle the situation properly. He offered unreasonable solutions and left us on our own when we didn't continue on his tour. I have to say I was stunned by all of this since I created a relationship with Tom when I set up the tour with him in advance. He showed no sympathy for the situation he put us in or offer any support as a courtesy for the rest of our day in Temecula that he knows so much about. I am a notorious bargain-hunter, but I beg you not to buy the Groupon. Half-price is so undervalued for the quality and quantity of what you get. Tom is knowledgeable and just the right amount of caring without being intrusive. He is extremely professional and will tailor the tour to your preferences. Tom is the best! This was my first time wine tasting and I am glad Tom was the one showing us around Temecula. He pretty much knew every server and owner of the wineries around. We even had a chance to check out the bottling rooms and have a taste of a wine that wasn't on the menu yet! Every other wine tasting group we bumped into on our 4 stops seemed rushed and impersonal. A few weeks ago, my mother-in-law and I booked a tour with Wineormous. It was very last minute yet Tom Plant was very accommodating. He's very knowledgeable of the area and all the vineyards which made our tour a real treat! We were even able to meet one of the vineyard owners at Hart Vineyards because of Tom. For an additional $15, Tom will make a lunch for you. Cheese (smoked Gouda no less) & crackers, fruit, chips and homemade sandwiches which were wonderful! (Did I mention Tom is also a chef?) He also had water bottles for when you need a break from the wine, which you will at some point :) The price was reasonable and I liked doing the tour in his passenger van instead of a smaller vehicle. Everyone had their own AC vents and it was easy to get in and out. Whole tour was about 4 hours which was perfect. We spent about 30 min at each winery, maybe a little longer and Tom was very patient and informative. Had the pleasure of meeting Tom over the 4th of July weekend for my wife's birthday. I must say we had an awesome time. Our first stop was at a small winery where obviously Tom knew the staff. In our drive to the winery, Tom asked what type(s) of wine I/we enjoy. While doing the tasting Tom asked him if he had any of it bottled which I could try (which he didn't). At the end of the tastings, my wife and I were lead back to their barrel room where we were given a taste directly from the barrel! What an experience!! After reading a few of these reviews I am in fact quite shocked. I have been on 3 tours with Tom, each time buying the deal through Groupon. I paid $170 for 4 people, coming out to $42.50 pp. Tastings at the winery are typically $10-$20 pp depending on when you go. If you do any other wine tours you sometimes have to pay separate for the transportation and then again for the tastings at the wineries. Sometimes there are coupons but still with that being said, I'm not quite sure how Tom makes his money with the Groupon deals, so yes he is relying on tips because it is his gas and time since the tour is usually about 5 hours. As far as Tom not being well known as mentioned by other yelpers, he gives you a list of 20 or so wineries to choose from out of maybe 100 wineries in the Temecula area so I would only expect him to be known at the ones he goes to. Tom is polite and punctual. He doesn't rush you at the wineries. I do wish there was a way to bring more people than a van full of people, more like a bus load. This is such a super fun outing. I can't wait until its back on Groupon. Oh and as far as the review on the car not starting...cars break down all the time, limos even. That is what I consider an unforeseen circumstance. read more
