A winery for everyone! I feel like it's rare that a winery will have wine, beer and cocktails but Wine on High has it all! My husband got After Dinner Delight and if you love chocolate and coffee this is the drink for you! I got the Sweet Flight and it had a pink moscato, a sweet red and a chocolate flavored wine. The man at the pouring today said it tasted like a cherry flavored tootsie pop and he was right! It was awesome that they had a deal during the gallery hop. I will definitely be back! read more

Service today was abhorrent, no event going on and 3 people working the bar, yet no one acknowledged us sitting there or gave us wine menus. It wasn't until I asked for one, I was acknowledged being in the store, then took another 10 minutes to order. This is the first time I've been in here with the 3 bartenders, but they need to improve. Other members of their staff are friendlier and willing to help out with choices of wine. read more

I'm not sure why I'm so late to Wine on High. I feel like the kid who shows up to a party after they cut the birthday cake. I blame all my friends who never recommended it to me knowing I love wine so damn much. I just had to get that out of my system. Now I will be honest, I always thought it was an extension of Hubbard Grill that's next door so that's my fault. However, after visiting & seeing the layout of everything. I truly fell in love with this place. The staff was great, welcoming & very knowledgeable. You can enjoy a glass of their various red, white, dessert & sparkling wine. I chose to get try a glass of Merf Cabernet (MY FAVORITE), Chianti & Insula from France. Never had any of them & it was soo good. I was smiling the entire time. You can also purchase wine there as well from different price points. The ambiance was very relaxing with soothing music playing in the background. I loved the energy in this establishment especially the walls covered with colorful bottles of wine. Truly beautiful. There's also a wine club but I'll let you get that information from the staff, just know the perks are great. I will be coming back here quite often for sure. read more

Highly recommend working with Wine on High staff and the event coordinator (Tina) here to plan an event as they were super responsive and helpful. I just used this venue for a private corporate event. We rented out the entire space for our 23 guests and had plenty of room for the team to mingle. The food provided by Hubbard Grill was delicious and plentiful. Tina was great to work with - providing solutions and creative ideas to accommodate our growing number of guests. Our MeetUp group held a tasting organized by Tina and WOH's manager, Meghan. The booking process was easy and straight forward. Meghan was delightful, knowledgeable, and worked with us on our wine selections. The nicely decorated loft area works well for small groups up to 20 people. A long table with a white table cloth, cloth napkins and crystal glasses worked well for our small group. The wines and appetizers were well received and delicious. I especially liked the short rib sliders and everybody devoured the marinated steak skewers. It was a fun, successful wine tasting and we'll return later this year. read more

What a great retail establishment in the Short North! I've been to the monthly 20 for 20 event and a Stella & Dot show and I'm impressed with the versatility of the space. The 20 for 20 event is an excellent value! Four stations are set up with five wines each. A majority were drinkable, with the exception of a few duds. All wines are available for purchase. A good way to build on your library of favorite wines and hangout with friends. Lastly, it appears they have a kitchen because I've sampled snacks at the Stella & Dot event I went to. They had a good selection of wines, as well as a few beers, even a couple on draft, for those of us that don't care for wine. Vino 100 is a great little wine shop. I'm not much of a wino myself... I'm a hophead at heart... but sometimes I get the urge to trade in my pint glass for a wine glass. Vino has a fairly wide selection at very reasonable prices - as the name proclaims, 100 wines for under $25 (and around 15 for $10 or less). The wines are accompanied with cards detailing all the info you need to make an informed decision... but I usually just pick something with a pretty label. The staff is knowledgeable and willing to help out, too... though personally, I hate when people ask me what I'm looking for. Last time we went the boy made the error of answering her and said "We're looking for a sparkling wine"... and then when she asked if we wanted something dry or sweet etc I jokingly said "Um... extra sparkly?" She shot me a rather disgusted look. Then proceeded to point to every bottle of sparkling wine in the store. (Speaking of bitches, we ended up getting the Bitch Bubbly. It tasted like vomitted- up white zinfandel and cough medicine. Avoid.) The wine tastings during gallery hop are great. A cheap, fun way to sample a few different wines. They do them other times, too, I just have no idea when. I will continue to conclude all of my Short North dinner dates at Vino 100 to take a bottle home :) read more

If you're looking for a great location for your bachelor or bachelorette, birthday, or any other party... Run FAR FAR AWAY from this place. My husband reserved their upstairs bar for my 30th birthday in December. The main reason was because we had dinner at Hubbard Grille and it's right next door. They had him sign a contract that included a minimum, which it's pretty typical and expected, so no big deal. In exchange, we were promised a fun and inviting atmosphere, music, a private bartender, a private section, and a full menu including draft and bottle beer (domestic and import) and of course their full wine menu. This is what us and our 20 guests arrived to... -Zero music. None. The bar was quiet, and let me tell you how quickly that kills a party and makes everyone uncomfortable. We had to ask the bar tender for music, only to find out there is none upstairs, so he yelled down to the manager who turned up the music from downstairs. It was barely audible, but better than nothing I suppose. -the bar tender was completely unprepared and spent more time on his phone then doing his job. Also, he knew nothing about wine.. See below.. - full menu? Nope. My guests started ordering wine flights, because they were on the menu and were, you know, at a wine bar.. And the bar tender said " no, were not serving those tonight." Come to find out, not only could my guests at my wine party at the wine bar not order wine flights, the only beer they had was off brand bottled craft beer. I realize some people are into that, but the beer drinkers in my group were bud light kind of people, and since that's what we were promised, didn't seem to be a stretch to assume that's what we'd have. -the area wasn't in any way blocked off from the public. The bar was totally dead that night, so it wasn't a big deal, but the 4 people that actually did walk into the bar walked directly upstairs to our "private party" My husband went and got the manager, who happened to be a HUGE unprofessional jerk. His name was Mark. He came upstairs and yelled at the bartender, in front of all of my guests and over the non existent music, for not serving wine flights. At this point we decided it was time to take our group somewhere else because this place was awful (exactly 45 minutes into our 3 hour party). After everyone paid for their drinks, Mark tried to hold my husband's credit card for the balance of the room minimum. How ridiculous, they did exactly ZERO of what they promised, but wanted us to pay up. We tried to be calm and at first asked if there was some compromise we could come to because of the situation, but manager Mark was again rude and unprofessional and kept saying we needed up pay up or "call corporate". He told us to "call corporate" about 5 times.. That was the last straw. When I thought we were dealing with a local business it was a manageable situation, but he made us feel like we were in the Walmart of wine bars. Don't worry though, they were SO UNORGANIZED that they couldn't even tell us how much our group spent. It was 45 minutes. We just walked out at that point. My husband booked the party with Molly. She was nice enough, but beforehand she made it clear she was too busy to be at the bar to manage the group events. or apparently even make sure the bar was prepared. She didn't charge us the balance, but made us pay the $75 room fee. Even that was absurd, but she told my husband that manager Mark said they were turning away customers to accommodate our party. He also told her we didn't bring enough people to cover the minimum.... I guess manager Mark is OK with lying to cover himself. Great company. She sent us coupons, but they were something silly like $10 off and expire in a month. In conclusion.. They don't care about your party, just your money. read more

I'm a big fan of wine, but the learning curve is so high, I always end up turning to ratings or recommendations to choose a new bottle. Enter Wine on High's wine of the month club. For $40, you get two wines a month (either a red and a white or two sweeter whites), and two coupons for a tasting or event. I've had wines that I'd never have chosen for myself and have used bottles for gifts, impromptu picnics, family get-togethers. It's always been great. I love curated selections from vendors I trust. I have only shopped here a couple times, and not taken advantage of the tasting nights they have from time to time, so I don't feel justified in giving them five stars....yet. I have faith it will happen. I've gone in there twice, and each time the service was spot on. As I'm looking for what I want, the guy manning the store (I dunno if he is the owner or the manager or what) asked if I was finding everything ok. I said yes, and found a bottle. He asked what I liked, and was able to suggest another bottle as well, which I always like to hear. The first time his recommendation was spot on, so I took the advice this time too. Cheerful service is always a big thing to me, and it really felt like I was being valued as a customer, even if all I was buying was a couple of $12 a piece bottles of wine. I appreciate not being waved off because I'm not dropping a ton of money. I live in Dublin, and I would go out of my way to shop here. read more

Food, drinks, and service were excellent, and they even went above and beyond and created branded signage and had our logo on their coasters that night. I have nothing but fantastic things to say about Wine On High! I have had several different private parties in the upstairs loft. It is a perfect intimate environment for a gathering. Both times I had around 30 people. I was able to pre-pick a yummy appetizer buffet, my favorite wines, and specialty cocktails. The staff was very accommodating, polite, and quick to fill a drink. We felt as if it was our own private downtown loft. We could bring in our own decorations, music, and really customize the space. On a side note, they allowed for people to purchase their own drinks and add flat breads or cheese boards. That is a very nice option. I would highly recommend anyone hosting an event here. I have also simply met a friend for a glass of wine, and have been just as comfortable. Great wine selection, smart staff, and nicely priced. Your girl spends most of her time buying House Wine from the Clintonville Kroger (don't hate). But when I saw a Fudha for a wine flight at Vino 100, I was curious. This would be an adorable locale for a date. Especially when you're just getting to know someone and a little chex mix and couple glasses of wine may help soothe the jitters. The loft is cute and the staff is not mean to people who have no idea about wine outside of liking it. The cheese plate is good times too! We got to try out some wine and cheese. Wine-o's unite! This place is terrific! I stopped in on my lunch break to buy a gift, and I'm so glad I did. They have a lot of great stuff, besides the huge wine selection. A whole rack of bitters, lots of bar tending supplies, and chocolate to go with your wine. And when it comes to the wine, though the place is not as humongous as some other places you might go, there is something for everyone. Lots of bottle priced in the 10-20 dollar range (score!), and I didn't feel like I was being pressed to buy anything I didn't want, and wasn't treated like a peon. "I should come here more often." - Me, every time I end up in Wine on High. Usually, I'm perfectly fine with selections at grocery stores, but... If I'm looking for a wine tasting in Columbus, this should be where I turn. If I'm looking for a unique bottle as a gift (and cute wrapping in one-stop shop), this should be where I turn. I love that Wine on High offers a curated collection of wine-- all price ranges, aesthetic uniqueness of some bottles, and smaller productions. I've always enjoyed the tastings here, too. Great little place - stopped in for a drink before Friday night dinner. Very small and very not busy which is a little surprising as the Hubbard Grill next door looked packed. She had the sparkling wine flight - I had a glass of Bonny Doon Claret. Bartender pretty knowledgeable about wines and spirits - the place is also a wine retailer with a good selection of wines that you can't find at the grocery store. The Wine Flights are almost 1/2 glasses - 3 for $15 so a good deal. I read about the "20 for $20" tasting events they have and I think we need to attend one soon. read more

I found Vino 100 while on the Short North Gallery Hop. I know the basics about wine, some is white and some is red. So, I don't have high expectations about understanding the "wine language" used to describe different types. Plus I don't have high expectations for how people at wine shops interact with those those well versed in the subject. I was pleasantly by quite a few things at Vino 100. Fist they were not snobby about what you did or didn't know. In fact, the employees actually took some delight in the opportunity to tell you about their wines and what you could expect them to taste like. I really enjoy learning and asking lots of questions, so they had me there. Also, I loved the atmosphere. Whether you wanted to just pop in and out for a bottle or stay in the cozy upstairs area, there was something to offer for different types of patrons. The bar is quaint and far enough away from the activity downstairs during the Gallery Hop that we could still have a conversation without yelling at one another. I can't say enough good things about our experience at Wine on High on 7/11/2015. We rented the table in the downstairs retail space, and we had 5 trays of food from Hubbard Grill. * Working with Nichole and Meghan was great. They were incredibly helpful and easy to work with. * Cory was our waiter, sommelier, bartender and more that night, and he was an absolute rock star! We had a group of 11 ladies eating and drinking, and he handled every request we had. Above and Beyond! * The food from Hubbard Grille was amazing! The calamari and Mac & Cheese in particular we awesome. * We were having so much fun talking, drinking, eating that we stayed longer than we had even planned. The view of High street and the people watching was awesome! * Wine selection & prices were good, the $5 corkage fee was great. The full bar upstairs is great for non-wine drinkers. All in all, a top notch experience, and one we plan to do again. They are closing-briefly- for a remodel, and we look forward to seeing the new space. read more

My wife and I were in the Short North for a long weekend and came across Wine on High. What a stroke of good luck. First, they have a nice selection of reasonably priced wine choices. Second, for those that rather have a beer they have cans of beer available (one on tap) as well as a limited cocktail menu. Third and most important they have a friendly and knowledge team that work there. We loved hanging out at the bar and talking with Andy and getting tips on things to do in the Short North. In fact, we liked it so much we went back there the next night and had another great experience. The people working there are really friendly and that always makes wine experiences so much better. I went there twice - once was during the gallery hop event and another with a couple of friends for some wine tasting upstairs. During the gallery hop event, the wine tasting was downstairs and it was $10 to taste 6 wines. I liked that the people working there really knew their stuff and could explain a lot to us. I had fun, but I don't think I would do it again because it was really crowded. The other time I went was much more relaxing. The upstairs bar is fairly small, but there was only one other party there when we went. I had the white wine flight and found my favorite sparkling white wine. That definitely made my night. Despite the name of this place I go here for the beer. They have a small selection of unique brews and other oddball items upstairs. My most recent purchase: A double IPA forty from He-Brew, brewed in honor of Lenny Bruce. I don't which I enjoyed more the beer or the bottle. Awesome. They also carry dogfish head's 90 minute IPA another favorite. Best part is the price, very competitive and often better than whole foods or local grocers. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and they go all out during gallery hop, so go early and stay late. read more

The girls and I went here on our night of fun during this past Gallery Hop. They were offering 6 tasting tickets for $10. The "value" wines were downstairs and each taste was 1 ticket, or you could go upstairs for the premium wines and beers for 2 tickets. This was a great opportunity to taste different wines and learn about flavors I might like or dislike before investing in a whole bottle. The pourer preferred to re-use our old sippers rather than a quick rinse or giving us new ones. I honestly didn't mind, but I am used to tastings where they are very strict about pouring into a clean glass. Their selection of barware and accessories was great. Best birthday dinner ever! This past weekend, I celebrated my birthday with 20 of my friends at wine on highs location. The event space was located in the upstairs area that is perfect for a dinner party. It was spacious yet intimate, and we were able to chose from Hubbard Grille's full menu. The two businesses are connected, and there was a door leading to Hubbard grill upstairs. It was perfect because we got the quick service from the restaurant while having our own area to enjoy and talk. All my guests enjoyed and I had the best birthday ever! Thank you wine on high! I'm no wine snob (but secretly wish that I was) and I can't pronounce half the wines offered on any given menu. I can tell you that whites go well with fish and chicken, and that reds go well with red meats and red sauces. I can also tell you that reds give me one heck of a headache when consumed in large quantities. Vino 100 gives me hope as a less experienced wine drinker. The hook here is that they offer 100 wines for $25 or less, and at that price I'm able to be a little more experimental with my choices. Vino 100 also has around 5 or 6 wines at any given time that you can taste for $2 each. The staff was moderately helpful though a little cold. I asked about tasting events or classes involving learning more about wine, and I got a half noncommittal answer. read more

Couldn't recommend this place more highly. Came in here many Gallery Hops ago for the first time to look at their wines and enjoy their tasting special, not even knowing that they had a small bar upstairs. They always have a wide range of wine offerings, with appellations I've never heard of and interesting blends. I love my wine, but to tell you the truth, we don't always get wine here when we come in. They have a small but thoughtfully curated craft beer selection (I shed a single tear of joy when they started Pumking in August) that I like to enjoy, and my boyfriend loves their port. They have a limited food menu too, so they should really change their name to Everything You Want on High (baziiing) None of that really matters though, because I would still come here just as often even if they served me wine glasses full of dishwater and cardboard tapas just to hang out with their bartenders. They are so fun and friendly, and they truly create a unique experience for the patrons that feels like they just invited you over for drinks (although you do have to pay the bill at the end). Plus they can answer any questions you have about the wines. They recently adjusted their concept with major design changes in the menu and decor, which I think really bring out the fun, quirky attitude that makes this place so special. read more

I definitely recommend the wine flights at Wine on High. The woman who serves the wine tastings on the second floor is really lovely and friendly. It's a fun experience. It is also a substantial amount of wine for $12--I never regret spending my money there. Additionally, the wine selection in the store is really good. There are a wide range of prices available. Almost everything I have purchased at Wine on High has been tasty and not something I could find at your average grocery store.
