My husband and I bought a bottle of Sancere (Vincent Ducet 2023) at the Wine Loft Pikesville. We drink Sancere all of the time. We purchased it in 2024. We stored it in our basement wine rack on it's side. We opened it last night (the cork was wet and intact) and were taken aback by how awful it tasted. At first we thought it was just very dry but the second sip was just so bad, we thought it might be rancid. We noticed sediment in the pour. We called the store today to let them know so they could test it out and check their inventory. We had the full bottle to bring in and show them. They told us it was old and that was why. The bottle was dated 2023, we purchased it in late 2024 and opened it in 2026. They refused to even look at it, let alone give us any credit for it. Will not be going there again. Will purchase our wine from The Wine Merchant where they treat customers with respect and kindness. Too bad, as we are within walking distance of the Wine Loft and they are not a friendle, neighborhood place like they want you to believe. read more

I was out and about and was in the neighborhood meeting up with a classmate MSU and stopped in to peek around for a gift for my 7th wedding anniversary. So I was greeted by the sweetest customer service representative. He gave me a hardy welcome and asked if I was looking for anything in particular. So I told him I was looking for a wine that either was 7 yrs old or had a seven on it. Well he showed me a few some ranging from $30 and up. But I was hoping to stay on the low end but wanted something sweet. So he showed me another wine that had 7 in it's name. The location is nice and appears to have every spirit of choice, wine gifts, gift bags, or other beverages. He seem to have a good knowledge of his wines, when I asked about the mini bottle of wine. He asked if I wanted to sign up for the reward program (which I declined, but later regret). After my check-in, there was an option to use a 10% off coupon, which I will save for later. read more

Nice place. Pictures included. Wood overbearing smell upon entering. The lonesome employee never said a word to me, my friend or the other patron in the store. He spoke to a customer he clearly knew already. We had a nice conversation about the types of beer and the difference with the other patron, too bad it wasn't the worker. BUT...Prices are about the same as other spirits stores, no discounts. I was surprised to see beer and liquor towards the back of the store, as I did assume it was just a WINE LOFT. That worked for me since wine is not always a want on the spirits list, though it will get you buzzed. Women love it. Good quality items in here. Love this place. Stopped in after a long hiatus. I appreciate the knowledge of the staff. There is such a wide range of wine from highbrow to low and the store is meticulously laid out but not pretentious. There are literally wines here from $4 to $100. There are actually quite a few lower priced selections that are actually good. This store was obviously created for wine lovers. I noted beer and hard liquor along the back and along one side of the store but they are not the focal point here. The star here would be wine. Don't try to stump the associates- they know everything from Boone's Farm to obscure Spanish wines from the Inquisition (ok, this is just to set a scene). There are sampling's (!) and room to just browse unabashedly. They also have a customer rewards program and small events on Saturdays I believe to showcase different libations. Rocko rocks! Yes, I felt like I had a personal shopper. No matter what questions I had he was available AND he had extensive knowledge about the selection. Per his recommendation, I bought a Malbec and sweet red. I can't wait to try them out. The Wine Loft has a nice selection of wines, and the store was extremely neat and organized. There is a rewards program that gives patrons 3% back. since I don't live nearby, I won't be back as much as I like. read more

I found this place after having a horrible experience at another wine establishment (see my review for that one). I did a quick Google search and found The Wine Loft and decided to give it a try. So glad I did because it's a great store! Not too big so you get more personalized attention. A thoughtful selection of wines. The guy who helped me (I didn't get his name!) gave me great recommendations on a Shiraz and a Riesling. I can't wait to try them both. Price for liquor was posted on their web site. I went in store and ask to purchase for same price. They refused and said that web site is out of date. They said they pay more than what was listed on web page. That was a not true since I have a copy of the beverage journal ( Maryland's whole prices that all liquor stores pay) and know the maximum they paid. I also don't care for the fact that they lead you toward non-popular wines and distributor closeouts where they make higher margins read more

The parking lot is a PITA, but there's only so much they can do about it. I walked in to buy a bottle of wine for my weekly show watching and couldn't help, but laugh because the first thing the woman asked when I said I was looking for a great bottle, was "is it for Scandal Thursday?" I literally burst out laughing. She was amazing and truly knew her wines, to bad I didn't get her name. I would recommend this place to anyone. Horrible experience! I have been here before they had a groupon and I liked the store very much. However, I was there recently and tried to use the groupon I bought and received major attitude from the staff! Before they rang me up, I mentioned that I had a groupon. The cashier smirked and said "oh, of course you do" How rude! If you don't want customers using groupons then don't offer them! This was one of the worst shopping experiences i've ever had. An older man helped me by the name of Ron, he insulted my taste in wine when I asked for my favorite wine. Then he tried to convince me to buy something else that I wasn't familiar with. I looked at my vivino wine app to get more info about that wine and it had bad reviews and referred to as a second lower end label that tasted horrible. And this Ron guy was pushy, unpleasant and rude. Hate the service, their wine inventory is low end garbage, and the staff is cheap hired help who were not helpful at all. The gentleman helping was knowledgable and suggested s few wines for me. Prices were reasonable and they sell hard liquor as well, so it's a one stop shop although I was just shopping for wine. I like to come here when on Trader Joe's and Barnes & Noble errands. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, seems to be a relatively quickly rotating selection of wines. Not the hugest selection of wines I've ever seen, but actually that probably makes most people happier with what they get. It smells like wood on the inside of this establishment. I'd hazard a guess and say pine, but I have no idea about my wood scents. I'll throw out birch too. Prices are good for the area as well. read more

The Saturday tastings here are awesome. They bring in great representatives and have a good day of tasting discount. They will also log the wines you buy if you ask them to which will help remember for next time. They may not be the cheapest but they have fair prices and the staff knowledge is amazing. Was a nice looking shop with low prices and a decent selection. I'm just blown away by how far off the staffs' recommendation was. I had already picked out a few wines and wanted to get a Spanish albarino for the crisp minerally acidity to go with some lite appetizers and oysters I was going to be serving before diner. The staff member said they were out but recommended a local albarino that he said may even be better. I asked if it was the same style -because as incredibly different as the two areas are and how different the other local albarinos I've had are in style I was skeptical. He assured me it would be what I was looking for. Opening the bottle it could not have been farther off. When I'd wanted a lite crisp mineral driven wine with some light fruit notes I got a buttery creamy full bodied wine more akin to a Virginia albarino or Californian chardonnay. It's not a BAD bottle but just completely different from what I was looking for and was told I was getting now I've gotta run out to another shop before my two guests arrive in an hour. There are dozen of other wines I could have picked up in the store (sauvignon blancs, reislings etc) that would have worked fine. I really wish I'd just stuck with my own thoughts instead of listening to the shop worker who either just heard albarino and thought all must be similar or was just out to push the local inventory. The staff is well versed in what to recommend and they don't push you to buy more than what you are looking for. My last purchase was the Sam Adams summer ale which was 8.99. They always have the latest beer. I recommend signing up (free) for their loyalty program to get special perks. Wine loft update. A while back I wrote a review about my mechanic in Hyattsville, who actually called me unprompted, on a Sunday, to ask how his AC repair on my car was holding up! That kind of service keeps customers. Wine loft is now in that category. I felt a bit put off by the attention I got yesterday and wrote it up. I wasn't having a great day and Andrew at WL apparently wasn't either. Today, I didn't get an excuse or dismissal: I got a sincere apology. Everyone has a bad day, myself included, and customer service is not easy (customers can be entitled and rude) and running a business is tough. I like this place. I'm fairly good with food and useless when it comes to wine. There's a well aged (think good cheese) guy who really knows his stuff and will wax poetic about everything he has. I find a visit incredibly entertaining. One saturday morning, way to early for my likes, I witnessed a spirited (just shy of 15%) discussion he had with a colleague about a wine he was sampling that day. A very nice specialty shop, focusing on low-cost, accessible wines. I wandered in expecting overpriced merchandise to match the surrounding upscale stores, but was very surprised to find so many selections that were easy on the wallet. It's like getting case pricing on individual bottles. The staff, especially Carrie, is great at matching your tastes to a few selections that have been spot-on recommendations for me so far. It's a wonderful environment, bright and smelling of the wood wine crates, instead of the usual fluorescent-lit liquor stores smelling of cardboard. Wandered into the wine loft while waiting for the Mrs. to show up for a Trader Joe's dinner run. I was totally blown away by both the wide selection and remarkably low prices. If you've been to many wine shops, you'll know they tend to stop fancy and expensive wines, but the majority of their selection was under $10. The staff was incredibly polite and knowledgable, so after we picked out food at Trader Joe's, we came back and explained our meal. The older gentleman who helped us immediately explained what we should look for and what to avoid given our dinner choices. He led us over to a section of italian wines and showed us several options.
