I have been here multiple times and although it is rarely busy they have phenomenal service and a great selection. Not only will they allow you to bring in food from adjacent restaurants but the staff from said restaurants will deliver your food as if you were in their establishment. This sense of community is beautiful and I highly recommend trying this place. I got a flight and it came in theses tubes. It was cute! I also ordered the charcuterie plate, it was pretty tasty. The atmosphere was very nice and bright. i was so excited to try this place out. I love the fact that their wine flight comes in adorable test tubes and they have all these beakers and other fun science stuff all around as decoration. The wine was pretty good and the food was very tasty. I was disappointed with their service though which is the reason for only having 4 stars. I went with my cousin and it seemed like every time we wanted to order something we had to persistently flag someone down. The girls were standing around talking to each other or other customers that seemed more like outside work friends and mostly ignoring the rest of the customers. I noticed other table getting annoyed as well. I am hoping that this was just an off day for the wine lab. I will try them again to find out. read more

I liked it! The ambiance is nice and there is lots of room to move and breathe. I agree the NB one on PCH can be a little claustrophobic. The server that we had (Melissa) was very knowledgeable! She loves to try to find a wine that you will LOVE! :) I like that they use a lot of small local (CA) vineyards. And I really like for $1.50 I can have all the carbonated or still water I want! I absolutely love this place. I always come here and always recommend to my friends. I come here so frequently that many of the employees here recognize me. I love the atmosphere. Loved this place! We came here after work to relax and this was perfect. The wine flights are really cool. We happened to be there on a special benefit night that included a wine flight (3 wines) plus all-you-can-eat cheese for $25 (some proceeds went to support a woman doing the SF to LA AIDS ride). Have just read a stunningly negative review of the Wine Lab. We have been customers since the current owners purchased Great Legs Wine Bar on the PCH around 2009. They developed that location into a very intimate spot with a wonderful wine collection with great price points. We went weekly and loved getting to know the proprietor and his fabulous staff. We were so thrilled when they moved into the Camp as this location is much larger, but still maintains that special intimacy. I have never had a bad tasting there and the expanded food menu is wonderful. I have never known the service to be SLOW, nor anyone rude or unpleasant. So I am very disappointed to read a very negative review after a single experience. So....everyone come see for yourself! read more

Cool concept apart of "The Camp" in Costa Mesa! My friend and I stumbled upon this place Saturday early afternoon... perfect timing because it was weekend happy hour. The place was empty and there was plenty of seating to choose from. My friend and I weren't in the drinking mood, so we settled on sharing a "wine flight" for $9 during happy hour, which comes with 3 test tubes filled with bartender's choice of red or white wines. We got the white wine flight and we're immediately given our test tubes. The white wine flight came with a rose, moscato and Chardonnay. The place itself wasn't crowded which was nice, but it was also dead quiet. A little background music would've been nice. My friend and I prefer sweet wines and really loved the moscato poured. The bartender was helpful and informed us of what kind of moscato it was and luckily we were able to purchase a bottle ourselves for $12, which is reasonable. The bartender said the owner likes to bring in international wines so people like us can sample without getting on a plane. I like that concept!! All In all, I liked the wine lab and would definitely go back. Highly recommend going right when happy hour starts because it's not crowded at all & I suggest the flight so you can sample different wines without committing to one. read more

I recently came here with my husband and we were both very pleased. The owner was very helpful and informative, I wasn't sure what kind of white wine I wanted so he gave me a couple of samples for free! The wine was good and some was even as a cheap as $3! I like that you can order half glasses, which I had never heard of before. They even serve little bites, not a big selection but it's nice to have that option. I love the Wine Lab! I stumbled upon the Wine Lab when I first moved to Orange County 2+ years ago. I was stuck buying the same wine again and again so I decided to try the Wine Lab's wine club. I love it. I have tried so many new wines through the wine club. I love that customers are able to select between getting 2 reds instead of 1 red/1 white and that there are different tiers. In addition to the great wine club, I love the venue. I have introduced so many friends to the Wine Lab. The flights are served in test tubes and the food, especially the burrata, is delicious. The wine lab has wine tasting events with wine makers and quarterly release parties for wine club members. The events are so unique. I hope that the Wine lab will have a Wine Tasting class next! I love the Wine Lab. I would be there even more if the parking at The Camp wasn't so terrible. read more

This place is adorable, I love that the wine comes out in little test tube, by the way you pour the wine from the tube into a regular glass, you don't need to drink it from the test tube. I didn't eat here but the food they serve looked good and I didn't hear any complaints. The wine was all fantastic and the staff was well versed in everything they sold. Great place! If you didn't already know this, many other restaurants within the camp will deliver here. Just stop by and place your order before going to wine lab as it sometimes takes a little bit of time. This is a really nice place for happy hour (although it's a little early, ending at 6pm) or even for after-dinner drinks. The prices vary by wine type and quality -- the cheapest is around $7 a glass, while there are others that go for well over $200 a glass. They also have a pretty expansive selection so nearly everyone will find something they like here. Staff is friendly and personable, and it's nice and quiet with a clean, open atmosphere. The food is okay -- typical "wine" pairings I suppose. I did get the baguette with goat milk butter once and it was very good. Although honestly I think it's a better deal to just order from somewhere else and have it delivered here. read more

Excited that this place opened at the Camp. We needed a a Wine bar in the area. The addition of the tapas style menu is also great for those who want a cheese plate to go with their wine. The selections are great and the flight prices are reasonable. If you want to dine in here they do allow you to order and bring in food from a local restaurant from the Camp. This place is pretty cool. The wine is good. I only gave 3 stars because when we went we were planning on having one of the cheese platters with our wine. They don't start serving food until I believe it was 4 and we were there at 3. A bit disappointing. Specially since there's no cooking involved. The prep is fairly easy. They should at least offer the cheese all the time. And they are a bit pricy. I was expecting that for it being such a hipster place but considering the limited options at that time of day, it would make sense to offer a lower price since we are so limited. read more

Definitely a fun environment, especially with happy hour available almost every day. The Wine Lab stays true to its name by offering a lab theme that includes wine bottles served in beakers and wine flights served in test tubes. It's nice to go during the week when it is not as crowded, but also fun during the weekend for a more lively experience. What is great about this place is that no matter what day of the week you do decide to go, the service is great and the bartenders try to ensure you're having a great time. Your wine comes in "test tube" hanging on a weird plastic thing and you have to taste it, share it and get confused with the names etc. What happened to my vintage wine aged in barrels?! It's better to have your wine in a wine glass from the bottle. Test tube idea is super silly! Finally got to try this place out! Went on a Friday night and parking was insane, but they have a valet option for only $3 and the boys were very friendly! Wine Lab was actually a lot smaller than I imagined, but throughout the night I didn't see anybody having to wait for a table. If you're worried about not finding a seat, call and make reservations. I made reservations the day of and had no problems. We got two different flights of the red wine selection that they had for the night, the selection constantly changes so that's a plus. Each flight comes with 3 test tubes of wine and a glass for you to pour the wine in one by one. I enjoyed 2/3 of my test tubes and my friend had the bruschetta which was enjoyable as well. I would definitely be back, but most likely only during happy hour. read more

This is by far the best wine bar in the OC! Phenomenal selection of wines, amazing cheeses, and an array of flatbreads and other appetizers. It has a wonderful, happy, warm vibe and a friendly and accommodating staff. I love that you can try hard to find wines and pair these wines with exceptional food. Even the baguettes are baked fresh and warm from the oven. Try their olives and almonds and amazing mustardy Red Dragon cheese. I can't think of a better place for drinks or even dinner! They have fantastic craft beers on tap too! Just a thought...how about The Wine Lab for Mother's Day? We skipped the overpriced brunches and spent a wonderful late afternoon enjoying a lovely rose and out of this world cab flight. Pair the flights with a seasonal cheese plate, olives, almonds and seriously, I'm not sure how you improve on Mother's Day? We had a perfect table, warm and attentive service, and I am currently researching Skylark wines, because I think I found the PERFECT summer wine - the Pink Belly Rose. I have been to the old wine lab in Newport and now visit the wine lab in Costa Mesa frequently in my work travel to Orange County. I love this place; it does not matter who is working, they are all so knowledgable about wines and I have learned so much from the staff. Through their wine flights I have found some great wines I would have otherwise never tasted. Try the 3 cheese plate with fresh bread-so delicious! I couldn't decide what I wanted, but the sommelier behind the counter was extremely helpful in helping me narrow down my choices and offering recommendations. I ended up with a few glasses of the fruitiest, least dry wines, which were all good. The Wine Lab is a great place to pop on by after wandering around the LAB or CAMP, although parking is usually always a hassle, it's well worth it for a nice drink or two.
