Stopped here for a quick refreshment before going shopping. Cute little spot and staff were friendly. I got a flight of red wine plus we ordered a brie flatbread with prosciutto. The flatbread was very tasty. I had just enjoyed my first wine, then noticed pink lipstick on my glass - unfortunately, I wasn't wearing any lipstick. So that really put a damper on my tasting. I had asked for a new glass, but from that point on and in light of all the craziness of this pandemic, I just couldn't enjoy my wine any longer after the thought of knowing I had just drank my first glass using that other dirty glass. Wine Lab was such a fun experience! A group of friends and I stopped by to celebrate my birthday, and we had a great time! Tip: reserve on Open Table (especially for bigger parties). This cute little spot is tucked in a corner at the CAMP (a super cute plaza that's camp themed--great for ig pics). They were most certainly taking COVID precautions with very limited and spaced out seating indoors and the rest of their tables being spread out outside. We got to sit on a small private patio, being a bigger group. They have plenty of selection to choose from and also some munchies, and their flights come in cute beakers. Our server, Edwinn, was super informative and helpful in selecting in our wines. Even though it was a bit busy on a Saturday afternoon, he still served us quickly and warmly. I really wanted to like this place based on the review but it fell short from expectations. The wine flights are only 3 wines (2 oz each) and the price depends on the option you choose: Bartender's choice ($10) or their special (At the time it was a Napa/Sonoma flight - $15). I think there was a miscommunication cause I thought they were the same price or like $2 price difference (on what the menu was showing two difference price for a flight) but I should've asked and was a bit surprised when it was $15. We went with white wine and what bothered us so much wasn't so much the price point but it that the wines almost all tasted the same. 2/5 were drier than the others, but they were pretty much on the same level and then the last one was a rose. But the first four tasted very similar to us and we were hoping they would be on different range but really we couldn't tell any big significant difference between the wines. Also, our bartender didn't tell us what was what.. We got a sheet but it only listed 3 wines on it (guessing it would the first 3) but aside from that, she didn't explain what tube had what wine, where it was from etc. So we pretty much went in blind and they just all tasted the same.. Another thing that bothered me was that there's two different cheese plate (with different prices) - one being before 3pm (their HH one $8) and then after 3pm ($13). We ordered before 3pm and I'm pretty sure we got the HH one but we were charged the $13.. which is kinda bothersome because the 3pm one obviously has more on it compared to what we received. Concept is cute, nice decor and very basic ambiance but I don't think we would come back based on the lack of introduction/information and I felt we charged extra when we shouldn't have been. The only "lab" aspect of this place is the fact they put the flights in test tubes which indeed do look cool. This spot is central to the shopping center making it prime real estate for people watching. I ordered the Brie Flatbread to munch on and soak up some of the alcohol: brie, mozzarella, fig paste, and white sauce. I have to admit, I don't remember all the wines I tried, but the crisp Biano di Ca'Momi White Blend will go down in history. I absolutely loved my experience here. I came in with two of my girl friends and we all had the wine flights. We were unsure of what to get so we decided the flights would be a great choice. Since we all had flights, we were able to try at least 9 different wine. The flights are served in test tubes and their names were printed on a chemistry table. The server was helpful with the recommendations and what we would enjoy. We had 6 of the red and 3 of the white in which I don't remember their names now ): Our server was truly wonderful though. One of my favorite places in Orange County. Truly a perfect spot to have a drink with a friend or even a date. The selection of wines isn't HUGE, but it's diverse. Their atmosphere is great and I love that they are always projecting movies on one of their walls. Their outdoor seating is great as well. During COVID reservations are a must!! Do the flight if you want your wines served to you in test tubes. Also, their prices by the bottle are great and if they have a bottle of the wine open they will bring you a taste before you commit to the whole bottle! As for food, their cheese boards are delicious. Happy hour is a great deal. It did seem like some people were just walking in, but the reservation is easy enough to make. My husband and I went there this last Saturday night. We wanted to try it since we enjoy a good glass of wine and thought the test tube tastings was such a unique idea. We sat at the bar and were greeted by Troy. I have to say we weren't impressed by his attitude. He was somber, serious and I don't think he ever smiled once while we were there. Troy seemed to have this "let me just get it done so I can get out of here" attitude. We felt rushed to make a decision and weren't really informed about the wines we were tasting. The guy just wasn't friendly. I asked for three dry whites however one of them he brought me was extremely sour tasting. The other two weren't too bad. In the end, I opted for a glass of their Chardonnay which was very good. That being said, we ordered a pizza from one of the shops close by and that was delicious. They will deliver right to you so you can enjoy it while you have your wine. In addition, we ordered the three cheese platter and accoutrements as well as the smoked spice and honey butter. These items were offered by The Wine Lab. Just wow! So delicious. It was a decent sized portion of everything and the price was affordable. The cheeses were lovely and the bread was toasted perfectly. The butter was heavenly.
