I figured any…read moreplace called Beer World would (or should) have an impressive selection of craft brews and I was right. My husband and I love Bell's Brewing, especially their Expedition stout that comes out in fall/winter, and it's something we can't get in Connecticut. While ogling the huge, expansive aisles filled top-to-bottom with libations, I zeroed in and snagged the last couple six packs of Expedition. So amped about this! I was going to try to track down a well-stocked beer-centric liquor store while in the area, but I'm glad I found Beer World by chance. Very cool they have beers on tap for growler fills as well.

Example:…read moreThey made their staff whine before the SLA to oppose a liquor license for a new shop which would have been located miles and miles outside of Hudson--claiming that it would cause too much competition for them. Absolutely ridiculous: HWM is a high-end niche business based on Warren Street's fancy clientele. A liquor store across from a gas station two towns away, selling Wild Turkey and Popov, was no threat to HWM. I was a regular when Michael and Marianne owned HWM, but I'll never spend another penny thete because of this petty behavior against a great Livingston family.

Town & Country has a really solid selection of bourbon, and basically everything you'd want when it comes to gin and vodka. The prices are fair, and if they see the desperation in your eyes that comes with having 50 of your family members in the same place, they may just decide to ease your pain and offer a 20% case discount off that rosé that you were eying. Or maybe they offer that case discount to everyone. I don't really know. But they are really nice folks, and the lady behind the counter let me know that I was born in the same year that she graduated high school. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

I was beyond happy with the selections (he was able to estimate how many bottles of each item we should order given our party size, and alerted us to what was not returnable so it was very transparent) and was extremely quick to get back to me on questions or anything at all. He had suggestions when we were stumped on replacements or alternatives. Afterward, he picked up the remainder bottles from the venue and tallied up our refund and it came back our way very promptly. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. At Fairview, they make a point to stock the more unusual and not ho hum labels and we really appreciate that. Thank you, Zach!!!

Plenty of standard fare, sure, and a delightful range of lowbrow, tongue-in-cheek crowdpleasers, but that's alongside some of the most incredible, esoteric, geeky spirits I've seen together under one roof. Fascinating conversation pieces. The store is remarkable. Best of all, the passion, humor, curiosity, and knowledge of the staff more than do justice to that range of booze. They can leap in a heartbeat from playful banter and scandlous jokes, to detailed technical breakdowns of the wines and spirits they carry. It's great fun. They also collaborate with some well known distillers and brands to create unique batches that are only available from Spirits of Cairo. Seriously, as a beverage professional, I gotta say: this is one of the best. Cheers to Tom! Good work.
