Take the thought out of your head if you're thinking you're getting a run-of-the-mill liquor store…read morewhen you come to Wine Hutch located in a Kingston, NY small plaza. And this works fine if you're getting off at i87 in Kingston and connect it to Rt28 to head to Woodstock like we've been doing. Wine H. brings a wine focused experience to the Catskills. But don't get it twisted because you do get the Jacks, the Hennessys, Tito's, etc. You will not go wrong. The key draw here (from what I noticed up front) are spirits made in NY state. This space passed my 'cozy' test because on a Friday after Thanksgiving as snowflakes fell in the Catskills. What makes Wine H. even more inviting is its relaxed ambience and approachable service. Our guy was willing and able to help as I looked for a dry Rosé to bring with me since we're staying not far from here for Thanksgiving weekend. This wine spot is a rare gem with an easy-going atmosphere and an impressive selection. Don't knock it til you try it. You won't go wrong.

I discover this excellent excellent wine and liquor store, just 7 minutes away. Tom the owner is delightful and an authority on the local history. The inventory is quite impressive with varieties from all the usual wine-producing countries. We're looking for some good cabs. Instead I noticed a reasonably priced Bordeaux Superieur Le Breton..a French wine for $14.99. Also a trusty bottle of Josh, just in case. The Bordeaux turns out to be really superieur so we put the Josh aside for a rainy day.

Such a huge selection of wine's and spirits. Often when I go in, they have a taste test set up…read morewhich has put me onto all kinds of new drink selections. Also love that the employees are so willing to help when I'm looking for something specific. It definitely gives you a cellar vibe when you walk in, but the wall to wall liquors and countless bottles of wine really get your thirst levels up. Absolutely a community staple!

Do you absolutely need to get drunk immediately?…read more You're in luck! The Wine Cellar has an enormous amount of ready-to-drink alcohol, in a shockingly wide variety of containers. They've got bags of mojito, buckets of margarita, jars of adult chocolate milk, trays of kamikaze test-tube shooters, alcoholic whipped cream and you can even get merlot in one of those Muscle Milk boxes. This last one is a combination of two of my favorite things: getting drunk and juice boxes. Can't be bad.* And if you'd like to drink like an adult, they also stock a ton of great booze. I'm betting that they've got what you're looking for, and if you have no idea what you're looking for, the staff will happily make recommendations. The prices seem fantastic to me, but then again, I'm used to NYC, which is stupidly expensive. All I know is that I can get one of my favorite bourbons here (Hudson's Four-Grain) for $37, when I can't find it in Brooklyn for less than $50. __________ *Actually, it probably can be. In my experience, the best wines don't come in boxes of any kind. Write that down.
