This is a small intimate place to relax and be creative. You get one cup of wine with your ticket but you can bring your own bottle, which I did. The instructor saved the straight line for last and after a few drinks mine were far from straight, so maybe one glass is best. So at first I was thinking, "So I pay money and take home a painting that I had to paint???" Hmmm, not buying it. But then I went with a friend who likes crafts and arts just as much as I do. We had not tried any social painting and wanted to see what it was like. We loved it! I had never painted before and I was quite happy with the results. We painted some flowers in a mason jar. The format is that they do a rough sketch on the canvas for you and they tell you to paint in a certain order. And they teach you which colors to mix to get the color you want. It's really easy! They supply everything, even the apron. You work with three brushes of three different sizes. You get paper plates as your mixing palate, paper towels, and water to rinse your brushes. When you are done, you get a pretty decent painting that you didn't think could do! As for the wine...you don't actually get to bring your own drinks/food if it's hosted at a restaurant. You can order drinks and food while you paint though! They are working on getting their own studio one day and are currently on wheels. The second time I went, it was a "Paint Your Pet" event. You send in a picture of your pet beforehand. They print it in black and white and attach it to the canvas. Then you paint!!!! Again, they give you tips on mixing colors and brush strokes. If you try the pet painting, bring your phone or mobile device or a good color photo of the picture you are painting. You will need it to reference when you are painting. And don't be like me and run out of battery. Charge your device! Highly recommended. I was really happy with my painting of my beloved pet. My recommendation to the business is host more "Paint Your Pet" events at your new lower price/smaller canvas. Look at their website/Facebook for deals. Tip: you don't really need to go earlier than needed (at a restaurant anyway) because they don't let you into the painting area until the start time since they are setting up. The Mommy and me class was a terrific family activity. We went to the studio in historic Falmouth, a great location. The spot is just down the hill from Gari Melcher's historic estate, the American artist. We did a two hour class to make matching paintings of mermaids, see the picture. I had two of my daughters with me and none of us had painted on canvas before, but everyone was very happy with the outcome. They supply everything needed, apron, brushes, paint, canvas, easel, etc. The basic picture was drawn on the canvas for us and the teacher walked us through each step of the project. They also had a custom music play list going based on the theme of the project. My kids built confidence in their artistic ability and enthusiasm for art because the class was si accessible for them. My daughter came to town and wanted to attend the Patriotic theme on Saturday 15 July! We were very excited. Upon our arrival as were checking in I ask for some assistance and was met with a young lady that was somewhat rude and she never answered my question! Not a good start to the evening! But, I have to admit the evening took a turn for the best once the Artist began the ptoject! PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU SIGN UP FOR THIS EVENT... We were all crammed together on WOBBLY TABLES with about 4 inches between each person's canvas. That is not enough room for 2 paper plates of paint, a cup for our water, 4 paint brushes and a drink if you'd like. The lines that were drawn on the blank canvas to help guide us where each object was to go was completely wrong and different on each one and didn't line up with the sample at all! The teacher started out doing well at getting us started and helping us get the first half done, but when we got to second half (the harder part with more details), she sped up and people started getting lost. She kept saying that we would have time to "go back and add more to finish the look" but before we were even to the point of adding the finishing touches, she said we had THREE minutes to finish. Then, she had us all get up for a quick picture and while we were taking it, they scraped all of our paints into the trash so we had to leave immediately. I looked at the original that was displayed at the invitation and there were lots of things that were left out. They also didn't have the correct paint to cover the lines that they drew on the canvas. My mom & I paid $50 a person (+ the costs for food and a drink) so we could have a nice experience while she was visiting me as well as something for us to keep to remind us of our time together. She was very gracious about it but I've paid $25 before and it was a much better experience (sturdy tables, more elbow room and plenty of time to make sure we enjoyed doing the painting but were also able to stay till we were finished.
