This place has earned my respect over the years, being one of the few storefronts in the town that has stayed the same over the last 20 years - a pretty difficult feat considering the constant parade of businesses through there.

Just like any other, run of the mill blue-collar tavern. But hiding inside a liquor store. Pretty neat. Anyway, their liquor and wine selection is pretty nice for a small (maybe even tiny) place. They have a few specialty whiskeys that I liked (that's what I was there for). Local wines could be found, including several wines from Warwick Valley Winery. The beer selection (all refrigerated) is also respectable. There were normal run-of-the-mill domestics and well as some things from recognizable craft breweries; mostly in 6 packs. Domestics were available in larger packs. Their counter person greeted me and offered to help without being pushy, which was lovely. I also found their prices to be lower than "Discount Liquors" around the corner, which I had been to right before. I'll be back!

A completely weird and scary freak show going on at this liquor store…read more Went in to buy a nice bottle of scotch at Murphy's and as I'm walking through the store, I realize the guy at the front counter is watching my every move. Not in a helping way, but more being a bit of a stalker. I was creeped out by it but then figured he's just a bit weird. I then go to the same cashier to purchase my liquor and the guy says "why the F do you buy such cheap crap", then tosses the bottle on the counter to the point where I thought he had cracked the bottle and then continues cursing about why I would buy such a lousy bottle of scotch. It was one of those rare moments when I was so shocked, I was almost speechless and in fact initially thought he was joking and just with a weird sense of humor. I then realized the guy was completely smashed...either very drunk or drugged out on something. It was beyond disquieting and disturbing. There are others here on Yelp with equally strange stories about this place...you have to wonder how they stay in business and what all the creepiness is about.

There's a vast collection of items, and of course, I went hunting for the cider when my partner and I arrived. There was a somewhat small collection in their back refrigerator area, but we spotted some brands we hadn't tried yet. As we made our way back to the front of the store, we simply needed to check out all of the cheese offerings they have available. The worker behind the counter was simply awesome, she was really knowledgeable about all of the cheese products and let us sample whatever we wanted to try. It was a great shopping experience and we definitely plan to return while we're in the area.
