The storekeeper imposes his own deluded set of New York State liquor laws stating that both people need to have ID to buy a six pack of cider. If it was business tactic to create a false sense of exclusivity on who get to buy, it's very tacky and does not work at all. Clearly no professionalism and the frustration and financial hardship amidst the coronavirus pandemic bleeds through the tone of his voice as he vents out to his customers. He has no sense of decorum as he grabbed the liquor away from the counter during my initial encounter with very accusatory body language as if we were gonna steal his liquor away from him and just run like we were thieves. When we came the second time to show proof of my license, he became Very aggressive and took things personal and as he was taking my payment, took all his time and held my card hostage as a means by which to talk down on me about not giving a damn about selling me one measly six pack of Hardbound Cider and "doesn't care about my money" and harassed me about not carrying my ID even though my friend showed his and came to a conclusion about not having my Driver's License (which was not the only form of ID that exists btw) while driving my car. Ironically Scherer's liquor store was only the second choice since since the other one closer to us was closed as of 8 pm (which was a shame). Very discriminatory and insensitive towards the nature of the Public Health Climate since the Caucasian woman before us and the Caucasian guy after us were treated differently. I felt discriminated against for being brown/yellow/Asian. It's a shame because the liquor store is situated in an idyllic place however, as soon as you catch sight on the shopkeeper, all of a sudden it smells worse than a piggery the moment you open the door. At the end of the day, businesses exist to do transactions, not to vent out at customers and patrons. This store existing does not do justice to the town it exists in.

And even then, some of the allocated items this store has currently are well below secondary market value, so I doubt that assertion regardless. The best thing? Very few stores ship to my doorstep. This one does. And it's always quick + nothing has ever come broken. They even were able to answer some questions I had with my first order. Matter of fact, I placed an order a couple hours ago and it's already shipped...that's crazy fast. This store easily gets a solid 5/5. Aisles are wide. Shelves are clean and clearly marked. Super convenient to find different types and brands. They also got a cold cut section full of variety of cheese. They sell some small snacks, candies, accessories, and gift bags and baskets as well. Prices are competitive. They have membership discounts too. Associates are super friendly. Few of them greeted me and checked if I needed help. Checkout process is quick and convenient. This is really one of the nicest liquor stores I have been in Bergen.

This small establishment is located on busy Market Street, the hub of our little town where they are the only liquor store on the strip. Recently a friend was looking for a bottle of Cake Bread Cab from 2008 and guess who had it? Not the big box store but little ole' Saddle Brook Liquors. Yes she bought it for me and guess what? I don't drink cabernet. We took a drive back the next day with no receipt and the owner let us exchange for another - he remembered her and said she didn't need her receipt! That's customer service. I can't say they have everything I need, but he did say he had my favorite Pinot Noir from Gnarlyhead so I think I'll be visiting again real soon.

I'm not sure why those beers aren't offered there, but whenever I'm in town I take advantage. The Yuengling Black & Tan is a must try if you're into lagers. The ENTIRE back parking lot was full and EVERY horrible, selfish, ridiculous driver decided to be a complete nuisance for us innocent folk trying to knock out some errands before lunchtime. All the times I've been to this mall (to dine at one of the dozen options here) I had no idea there was a Costco or a "liquor shed" in the back of the complex. (Worth noting: I work Deck Neck in Newark and I'm well-versed in the lunacy of double and triple parking, among other offenses.) I think even the most seasoned Ironbound drivers would lose their cool if they came here. Eventually I had to park by the Chick-fil-A and walk to/from NB. Was it worth all the hassle and inconveniences? No. The layout is very clean (sterile) and they didn't offer any refrigeration and most of the beer selection seemed to be cans. A nice selection of wine as well as some odd/offbeat liquors and it was my first time encountering soju and that stuff is good. Real good. Real potent. (One bottle later that evening and it was nap time, I can't lie.) Would I make the trek back to NB? Only if I couldn't find soju elsewhere.

Just like any other, run of the mill blue-collar tavern. But hiding inside a liquor store. Pretty neat. Anyway, their liquor and wine selection is pretty nice for a small (maybe even tiny) place. They have a few specialty whiskeys that I liked (that's what I was there for). Local wines could be found, including several wines from Warwick Valley Winery. The beer selection (all refrigerated) is also respectable. There were normal run-of-the-mill domestics and well as some things from recognizable craft breweries; mostly in 6 packs. Domestics were available in larger packs. Their counter person greeted me and offered to help without being pushy, which was lovely. I also found their prices to be lower than "Discount Liquors" around the corner, which I had been to right before. I'll be back!
