Not only did we love our mezcal, it will probably be one of our favorites, it was the perfect smokeyness and the right smoothness when sipping it. I was given a gift card to the Divine Bar in Sparkill for my birthday last summer. I called a…read morecouple of weeks later to make a reservation and was told they were temporarily closed for renovations but would reopen soon. When it reopened, it was called temporarily Cantina. I went in there with my gift card and was told that it was under new ownership but that the previous owner, Joe, still owned the wine store next door and would honor the gift card there. It was closed for the night. I finally got around to calling them to see if they would indeed honor the gift card and was told that although Joe is the same guy that issued the gift card and took my friends' money, they could not honor it because it was "a different corporation". I would like to give the owner, Joe, a chance to respond and make things right.

I mean, if she was overwhelmed bc the store was super busy, I'd definitely give her a pass. But it was a Thursday afternoon, and I was the only customer in the store. When I left the store, I said goodbye, thank you for your help... was about 15 feet away from me... she never even looked up, didn't respond at all. I guess since I wasn't a "paying customer", she had no need for me (Had she had what I needed in stock, I definitely would have bought still, but they didn't). Before even entering the store there was a new person there (assuming the co owner) working. She condescendingly asked if we were 21 and carded us, well that wasn't really a big deal for Us, but once we started browsing and looking at different wines she tells us, "please don't pick up any bottles in that section if you don't plan to buy, it would be very expensive to replace..." THE BOTTLE WE PICKED UP WAS $36!!! (we were taught to always look at labels, producers and importers when buying wine) We are just heartbroken because we thought we had a new locally owned wine shop to support one of our favorite pastimes. Which we tend to spend a lot of time and money on... We totally planned on buying a few bottles from the shop today. Now we are wineless and they lost the sale...
