There's a reason Buy Wise has been there forever. Charge fairly, employ a knowledgeable staff more interested in serving customers than hiding and smile occasionally in the process. The overwhelming warehouse vibe only adds to the feel of deep stock and efficiency. There are certainly better looking "wine shops" and liquor stores in the area but once it's on your table, who the hell knows or cares where you bought it. An easy five stars. read more

Typically I shop at Bottle King for convenience and it's the best prices in my area BUT Buy wise liquor is for sure the place to go if you're looking to stock up and save some $$$. Although not as convenient for me it is worth the trip. We were hosting for Christmas this year and I was able to get many bottles of high-quality wine for unbelievable prices. The staff is also super knowledgeable and will guide you to ensure you get what you're looking for. I also tried several new wines based on their recommendation and they were delicious. Since the store is in a large shopping complex with other stores such as TJ Maxx, Aldi, Sierra Trading, Home Goods etc you will be able to find parking and also do some bonus shopping. The only downside if one is that the isles are extremely narrow so challenging to navigate a shopping cart. Definitely check out if you're in the area or if looking to purchase several cases. read more

In addition to narrow aisles that are next to impossible to navigate, be aware this store has a NO REFUND POLICY!! They claim that New York State law prohibits them from offering cash refunds for unopened merchandise - but a simple check of New York State law online shows that this is a blatant lie. There is NO such provision in New York State law. The only thing these guys will do for you is offer an exchange on any unopened merchandise returned with receipt. BEWARE!! Once you buy from these guys you're stuck for the money and they will lie to you with a straight face that this is New York State law - it is NOT! read more

The store was so crowded with items I could barely walk through the already narrow aisles, bumping into things at every turn. This place used to be called Buy-Rite and I recall it being a decent place to buy liquor. It's now "Buy Wise" and uses the same color scheme for the signage, perhaps to confuse you. This has to be one of the sloppiest liquor stores I've been in. Unless you know exactly where your item is, there is nothing pleasurable about shopping here. The aisles are so narrow, two people cannot walk past each other. Wine and hard liquor are inter-mixed so finding anything by spirit-type is nearly impossible. I found vodka stocked in 4 different places inside this store. There seemed to be no reasoning as to why some vodka was on one side of the store vs. another side. While you were able to find vodka all over the place, gin was given very limited shelf space. The selection of gin was terribly slim. The checkout clerk was really rude. Instead of a greeting, I got "Are you over 30?" They must have a policy of requiring ID from anyone that appears to be under 30 years old that I'm not aware of. Maybe she thought I was trying to pull a fast one. The tone was very condescending, especially from someone that appeared to be 18 or 19. The prices are nothing special here, the selection is hit-or-miss, and the service leaves a lot be desired. For me, there's no reason to come back. read more

This is a very good liquor store with an excellent variety and reasonable prices. The prices are usually lower than almost anywhere else but not always. The isles are small in comparison to other stores, but if you are so obese that you can't make it down the isle maybe it would be wise to stop going to the liquor stores and start going to health clubs. What makes this place great is the selection, I have found whiskeys in this store that I thought were only available in Europe, also the wine selection is unparalleled. I also like the fact that almost every wine has the rating listed. It makes the selection easier. read more

This place is great, if you dont know what you want or where it is guess what, there are signs. There are enough people in the store to ask if you really have that much trouble. They are the lowest priced around here except for maybe shoprite liquors depending on what you want. I always come here, my only complaint is that they aisles are kind of narrow because they are always restocking. There are boxes every where and people every where. Like William said, it's not a day spa. As far as people being friendly, it's not Mr Rogers neighborhood but the staff is a little short and to the point. Teenage girl at checkout made my 40yo fiancé stand outside while I purchased a bottle of wine because he left his ID in the car.lol never in my life have I experienced this. Esp since it's so obvious that he is well above 30. So, that alone left a bad taste in my mouth. I shouldn't have even made the purchase but I think I was kind of gobsmacked... anyways, prices are ok but I have seen much better. The store is cramped and really hard to get around. I won't be going back, I'll stick with my local shoprite liquors or actually any of my local liquor stores where teenagers don't get a power trip off of making grown ups stand outside like they misbehaved. read more

well, I go there all the time... Damion and Michael know their stuff, but admittedly the check-out staff tend to be fairly low end, typical of minimum wage employees. And yes, the isles are very narrow, and yes, it gets very crowded on holiday weekends. But the selection is fairly good (it's not possible to carry everything in liquor, as there's way too much produced), and the prices are great. Anyone who shops liquor stores knows these guys are at least $2 cheaper than the smaller stores that are all over Rockland. Bottle King in Jersey, even with lower taxes on booze, can't compare. But I'm sure if you want prettier counter girls you can find a place to take your money. read more

Couldn't disagree more with negative reviewers. It's a liquor store, not a day spa. Their prices are better than anyone else's and their selection is endless. The best part though is the owners themselves. They seem to know every bottle of wine in the place. Every time I ask for a recommendation, they ask what I'm looking for, how much and they always hit the nail on the head. Ok, so it's crowded and the aisles are tight. If you are obese, have a big rump or are on crutches or in a wheelchair, do not come in this store. You will not be able to navigate comfortably and you may knock down some bottles getting around. I think the fire inspector should come in here and make them revamp the layout of the store. Dangerous in my opinion. They now have a sign on the door "no pets allowed". I don't think people should be allowed in the store now. Too cramped. read more

For a long time, I overlooked the narrow aisles, the miniature stock people texting around corners, and the shelves so over crowded you have to take extra care not to knock adjacent bottles on the floor because it's the largest liquor store in the area and the prices are supposed to be pretty good. I was buying the magnum sized bottles of Yellow Tail, Barefoot and Woodbridge wines in there for a long time, but I recently switched to regular sized bottles. After searching all over the store (and anyone who's shopped in there knows what a challenge that is given all obstacles: other shoppers, with and without carts, the miniature stock people who are not only unhelpful but don't even bother to move out of the way, the narrow aisles, etc.), some kid I'd never seen before asks me if I need help. This happened to be in front of the Yellow Tail shelves. I explain that I'm looking for the regular sized bottles of Sauvignon Blanc. Sure, says he, and he walks me over to the better wines. I explain I'm looking for the same price point - Yellow Tail, Barefoot, Woodbridge, etc. He tells me, oh, yeah, that's like, bottom of the barrel. Interesting selling technique you have, there, I tell him. He laughs. Dumbass doesn't get it. First of all, you sell the brand you're trashing, second, you're insulting a customer who buys the brand you sell. I know I swill cheap shit at home, I'm not interested in your thoughts on it. I put the basket back and went over to Big Daddy's in New City. They may not be as big, but I can find the items I'm looking for, on shelves that are not overpacked, in aisles you can walk through easily. The staff are actually helpful, and the prices are fine. Given that, it couldn't offer any more of a selection given the area and the low prices unless they offered valet service. Even better, they carry it out for you when you're too drunk to be bothered. This is not the place to go if you're looking for a relaxing experience as you browse the store looking at wine. The place is a mad house most of the time, between the narrow aisles that only allow 1 person to fit, the constant stocking of shelves and basically always feeling like you're in the way (because you are!). With that being said the prices are very good and they have a lot of sales on quality wine and booze. Basically, when I know what I'm going to buy, I go in and head for the area it should be, find it, pay for it and get out of there. read more

The store is a mess to say the least. Never updated and has a high turn over rate of employees. Prices are low but honestly I have found lower in the county if you search around. The owners are complete jerks. Nice to your face and as soon as you turn around will bad mouth you. YOU are their customer and they could care less about you because they know they are a busy store. You are a body and a sale, not a valued consumer or friend to them even after you have known them for years. They are too busy smoking in the office and eating like pigs to take care of the store. Not worth going to to save a $1 unless you are that much of a penny pincher. I value people who value my business and value their own business. I have to agree with Rob R. I stop in there throughout the year and never have a problem. I do however find it odd that kids are running the place & stationed at the checkout counter asking for ID based on who appears to "look" their age. I use to bartend in the past. ID requirement was universal, not selective. One of the checkout clerks yesterday was really rude. With the amount of money I've spent in that store I expect to be treated with some kind of respect. I was with my husband & left my handbag w/ID in the car. Because I was standing with him she RUDELY told me I had to go outside of the store or she couldn't ring up his purchase. Then she went on to say I shouldn't even be in the store without my ID. Really? Coming from someone who "looks" 17? If her tone hadn't been so disrespectful it would not have been such an issue. If this was a new store policy, it should have been posted or verbally communicated because we've never had this issue there before. At age 40 I have no interest in dealing with children & it seems they are running that place more than ever. I asked to speak with a mgr or owner who was apparently "too busy" to take a moment to speak with me. I remember a few years back the owners used to be out on the floor greeting me & asking if I needed any help. We left without buying & will never go there again. I have never been treated so rudely. I have never been asked to show my ID when walking into any liquor store, only at the time of purchase whether in Rockland, Jersey or Manhattan. Pretty much everything that everyone said is true. The aisles are very narrow and you literally have to do the vertical mambo to get by if there's someone else in the aisle (be careful that you or your bag doesn't knock something over in the process!) Shelves are also very high but there's a big selection, which can be overwhelming I suppose if you don't know what kind of drink you want. I'm not much of a drinker but when I do have to buy something I think I'll just stick to the other places I go to. read more

The prices are good but the staff is rude and nasty. They throw Thier garbage out the backdoor because they're too lazy to take it to the dumpster 15 feet away.
