Kevin installed a Reznor gas heater in my garage. He maintained excellent communication before and during the initial install process. He also handled pulling the permit with the city and scheduled the inspection.
All work was done to a high standard and he worked very quickly and efficiently. He uses all stainless steel venting, and a high quality mount that simplifies installation. He accommodated my request to run the gas line in the wall (to hide it and keep it out of the way) and to install an Ecobee thermostat that I supplied. The Honeywell units he provides are good units, but I already use an Ecobee in my house and wanted to control my garage heater from the same app.
There are many quality contractors out there, however many of them have high overhead costs and/or charge higher margins. There is nothing wrong with that, however I'm always looking for savings without sacrificing quality. Kevin is growing and investing in his business, as evidenced by his well-stocked, organized and professional van (I was a little jealous of all of his Milwaukee Packout gear). But he charges fair rates and reasonable margins that equated to about 40% savings compared to larger and more established HVAC companies. That is a considerable amount of savings, but without sacrificing any quality of materials or workmanship.
There were a couple hiccups along the way, most of which were beyond his control. His employee called in sick on install day, which necessitated the install stretching into a second day (a Saturday). Another item outside of his control was the city inspection being cancelled due to weather...and they also didn't call to notify us that it was being cancelled. This meant that he couldn't finalize the install on that day. Kevin had driven 40 miles one way, but the city inspector apparently couldn't make the 3 mile drive across town.
While waiting for the city to come and inspect, he got sick too...so there was an additional delay. My only complaint would be that this was not communicated to me until about 34 hours after he didn't make it here for the inspection. A quick message from him to communicate his situation would've saved me some stress, but he showed up first thing the next morning and knocked out the remainder of the install.
I will be calling Kevin for my future HVAC needs. He provides great work at very fair prices. read more
