He kept in contact with me via text message prior to the appointment and even though my curb service valve could not be shut off by the city due to malfunction, Ryan was able to get the interior job done despite the change of plans. I am very happy with his work and he is frequently recommended on our neighborhood Facebook Minneapolis Old House group. I had several contractors that never bothered to answer my calls, online request for appointments or emails. (Only one other company came out and gave me an estimate at a slightly higher cost but only warranted their workmanship for 60 days. I believe when the home was built the lowest bid was chosen for the install and it really stood out to a few of the people we called to get estimates. Curt was extremely fast to respond and genuinely listen to my concerns. We did a pretty large rework of the HVAC system in the house and I was offered exactly what I asked for in different variations based on the price I was comfortable with. We didn't want another version of the cheapest possible install we could get. I wanted rooms that were comfortable for my children. In the end we elected to go for a dual zone setup. Dusty and Preston were punctual, had great communication about arrival, and really were the definition of a family business. They worked extremely hard and seriously took no short cuts. My 3 year olds favorite part of the day was giving pictures to her new friend Dusty. If you want a tl;dr; It wasn't our cheapest bid or the most expensive. I was offered options I was unaware of but I was never "sold" on anything. Every point of contact in the Smith family was fun and professional. There was a genuine pride in their work and the final results showed. I was listened to, and currently on a cold September day am comfortably working in what used to be a very chilly room. It's extremely hard to find a good honest family business these days. Companies like this deserve patrons or customers will only have massive conglomerates left. Thank you Joel Smith HAVAC, I hope to be able to keep doing business for years to come.
