My son and I came here before we went to the Children's Museum. What a great call that was! The food was great and I mean who doesn't like a charred piece of meat? I went with 2 Polish Sausages and the bonus was I got their Friday special on Thursday! Fries were great and perfectly salted. My son had a Char Burger and he dug it as he finished it. Review Visit: August 17th, 2014 Fun name. Delicious food. While exploring Bloomington-Normal one day, my friends and I came across Windy City Wieners. First, we chuckled at the name but then decided we should grab some lunch there. Firstly, Windy City Wieners is located in a pleasant place location in Normal. It's near the Amtrak station, the street it's on has lots of little shops to browse. There is a parking lot to park nearby so you can walk around and visit shops. Now to the food. My friend Matt and I stopped by for food. It has been a few years, so I don't recall what I had. But I do know it was delicious. So good that I wanted to order another dog or two. Matt also enjoyed his meal and wanted a few more dogs, too. My memory may be a bit foggy, but I do remember the friendly staff and how delicious the food was. Solid Chicago dogs! Staying the night on a road trip and found this gem walking distance from our hotel. Perfect snap biting into the dog with all the classic Chicago dog toppings. Fries were large cut & piping hot. We took our dogs to go & at at a nice shaded picnic area around the corner. Service was quick & price is very reasonable. Portions are generous. We love the impossible burgers here. They are these best in town. Wish they had a Windy City Wieners in Northern Illinois. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive from our house but we always come here when where in the Normal/Bloomington area. Burgers are definitely worth the drive. The second time they put the wrong peppers on my gyro and the third I got gyro fries and they Gave me complete slop. I never write reviews but what my boyfriend and I experienced last night was horrible. It was my first time going and I was so excited but it wasn't worth it. The service was disgusting. The blond guy with the glasses and bun working on 9/17 at night was extremely disrespectful. He bent all the way over the cash register while we were paying to see if we tipped and when we didn't, he literally started complaining, yelling throughout the store "If the next person doesn't tip, I'm shooting the place up". The guy was also making jokes about us with the employees in the kitchen right in front of us. I don't care if we tipped or not, it's never that deep to be that aggressive and make paying customers feel uncomfortable like that EVER. The food was mid asl anyways, and will never be worth dealing with employees like that. And what I've learned after eating from Windy is that their prices for their quality of food doesn't add up. So now of course I don't feel bad for not tipping on top of paying high prices for, what I've discovered, is below average food. By far the closet thing to a Vienna beef joint in BloNo. Great Chicago style dogs that are the best I've had outside of Chicago. But their menu doesn't stop there... their double cheeseburger with grilled onions is solid and they also have really good gyros. Personally, I think their fries are "meh", but I usually swap fries for other fried goodness. Speaking of fried goodness, you can't go wrong with their cheeseballs, mozzarella sticks, or onion rings. The Normal location only has seating for about 25 people, but they do quick delivery and carryout. Their website is very well made and easy to order and customize. I must say being from Chicago and knowing where to get the best charred dogs and polish along with some great fries made me wary to try this place. But at 3am with drunken college kids everywhere this looked like the easiest line to deal with. I'm really glad I ended up here. The employees were all great here. The woman running the register knew how to get an order out of a drunk kid and move them along. The fact she was still smiling after each of these orders was impressive. I placed my order for a Chicago style polish sausage and some other things I was taking back to our hotel room for others and then waited near the pick-up window order. The two guys working the grill and handing out the food were a bit frazzled because some of the drunks didn't know what their number was or in some cases didn't even remember what they had ordered a few minutes earlier. But a delivery guy returned (college kid) and within seconds had sorted the customers, handed out the correct food, moved people out the door, grabbed his next batch of deliveries, and was out the door himself. Quite impressive at 3am. And the food was great. Grilled onions and mustard on the grilled polish were in perfect amounts and the fries were a perfect crispness and didn't have too much salt. It would be easy to to rude to drunk people and serve them lower quality food but this place didn't do that. I must assume that at 12pm they are even friendlier and the food just as good. I stopped here after having to run an errand in Downtown Normal. I had never been there,but knew I wanted a Italian beef sandwich & fries.Walking in there the place was clean & the menu was above the counter in big letters. I saw there board and decided to get there special on a combo with fries for $7.00- The combo had Italian beef & sausage with peppers(cheese was .50 extra)this was loaded with Italian beef and the sausage was cooked perfectly.The peppers were fresh & delicious.I will definitely be back to this place,it really hit the spot after a long day @ work. read more

I generally enjoyed their food and service. Chicago Style Hot Dog is my favorite, for the generous amount of pepper, pickle, and other veggies in the bun. After coming home to a menu hanging on our front door knob, we eventually ordered some hot dogs for delivery. Note** I thought it was free delivery over $10, turns out that's only with the coupon on the back of that door knob menu** The daily specials don't include a drink, just the dogs/ sandwich and fries, but the combos do. We got the Friday special, 2 Maxwell Polish sausages and fries, a chili dog, and a chicken tenders combo. The tenders were the same you get at Culvers, just smaller.
