Lot of things to love about this place wine and beer selection is awesome. Seating is sketchy as it is mobile so you might need to push a stool up to the bar. It gets busy and most customers are tourist so don't expect the servers to get to cuddle up to you. read more

I'm not the usual Whole Foods shopper, but found out that the Kailua Whole Foods has Happy Hour all day Sunday while my friends and I were on the Cacao Festival walking Tour. Who can turn down a slice of pizza (pepperoni or cheese) and a pint of beer for $5.00?! We made it a day in Kailua this past Sunday - starting at Agnes, making our way to the Windward Mall Farmers' Market and then ending our day at Whole Foods. I would have preferred to sit at the counter where we would have been able to keep ordering drinks and food but settled for a table outside. It was a pretty day out and sitting outside worked out - after waiting for table. They were quite busy this day, as I am sure they are every Sunday. The staff from the young woman behind the counter taking our order to the young woman who cleared a table for us and the others in between were all very, very polite and eager to help. Another Yelper commented that the HH special only allowed for a choice of pepperoni or cheese pizza. Seriously, for $5.00 who cares?! 3 of us each ordered the HH special and then added the Artichoke and Spinach dip and Chimichanga (I'm at a loss for the exact description) appetizers from the Bar menu. Both were DELICIOUS and super cheap! Our 4th, a man, felt the need to order the Beef Brisket from the deli... and I'm glad he did! It was freaking fantastic! It was nice to see families with small children, young couples and groups of friends all gather here. We sat for hours just chatting, people watching and enjoying the weather. No one rushed us or made us feel unwelcome. I probably would have enjoyed myself more if I was able to sit at the bar or at least inside but I'll save that for my next trip to Kailua! read more

Okay so the girl that works at the Windward Bar is literally an angel. She always helps us find the best beers and we're always happy during happy hour. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed her suggestion of the Modern Times IPA and we went back for another! The outdoor seating is nice if it's not windy. My beer almost blew away last time lol. When we were too early for drinks last time, we went inside Whole Foods and got breakfast. Will absolutely be coming back here next week. The only thing I was bummed about is that they ran out of the IPA from Kona that I wanted, but oh well! Still delicious and really fun. read more

This place is perfect to get out of the house, grab some A/C, a beer and a snack. It seems like a lot of people have figured out the happy hour which has $3 beers and on Tues and Wed pizza and a beer $6. Great deal! The staff are friendly and remember you if you've been here more than a couple times. Ricky, Ellie, and Levi are awesome team members at this location. I usually go here for a glass of wine while I'm working in the afternoons. I am not disappointed (AT ALL!) with the heavy pour from most bartenders and all have been extremely nice and eager to serve. The only reason I am giving this a 4-star review is because their food is just ok. Otherwise, great place to work, people watch, meet up with friends, etc. read more

So I have to write this because it still just baffles me. A few weeks ago my friend and I went here to grab a beer. I was hungry and decided to order a burger with sweet potato fries. When my food came out to me the server dropped it off and walked away, however she still needed to come back to bring something for my friends daughter. When I looked at my food right away the only thing I noticed was my burnt fries. I'm not talking about them just being crispy, I mean they were BLACK. Burnt to a crisp, pretty much cremated. When the server came back I told her the fries were burnt. She replies back yeah I know the cook is making you new ones. Ok for starters the cook obviously knew these were burnt and still decided to put them on a plate for the server to bring to me. Why in Gods name would he do that? Why wouldn't he just make a fresh batch and give me my meal with nothing burnt? Second since obviously the cook is incapable of doing his job, Why would this girl as my server be okay with bringing burnt food to a customer? She obviously is not capable of doing her job either and they both can give two shits about the customer. So I waited for awhile and still no fries. I decided to eat my burger before it got cold. After I was done eating my burger still no fries had arrived. The server even came to drop off my bill but no fries. I went to go pay for my burnt food and told the guy ringing me up what happened. He apologized and said he would take care of it. He finally came back and said he took off my food from the bill and only charged me for my beverage. Right when he hands me my receipt the girl hands me my fries and said here you go. I was shocked. Really you saw him ringing me up and as he hands me my receipt now my fries are done?!?! Mind blown!! I told her not to worry about that and I was done and going home. All I got was a look of irritation from the employee. Well wholefoods you disappointed me for the last time. Never again. read more

I don't know what they've done here, but it isn't good. the food we had here today was terrible. and we've always had pretty good food in the past. the culprits? a simple burger and a fish 'n chips. the burger had large chunks of tough gristle - this from a market where they have choice cuts of beef and their own meat grinder? and the fish and chips were swimming in oil. there was barely any fish in the fish part (mostly greasy batter) and it sat on a smalloumd of thick cut potatoes that were equally oil-drenched. what happened to the crispy thin fries they used to have? I've had the fish and chips on many occasions and they were fine before. but not tonight...it seems like they skimped on the fish (thin cuts of pollack...who uses pollack in fish n chips?!!!) and used way too much batter to cover it up. and the fries were the worst fries I've ever had on the island. it's hard to mess up a burger and fish and chips. but they managed to f&@k it up royally. won't be going back until I start hearing better things about their food...ugh. read more

The staffing concept for this bar is terrible which sucks because they have good food and a nice beer selection. The poor bartenders have to watch the bar as well as tend to an ordering station for the tables outside. There is no was they can keep up when it gets a little busy. We sat at the bar for at least 20 minutes with empty drinks trying to wave the bartender down. The dude next to me tried to order food for at least 30 minutes unsuccessfully. In short, great food and beer but terrible service for which I blame management not the staff. read more

Okay...I love Whole Foods. If I made more money, I would shop here more often. Since it is pretty pricey, I will take advantage of their happy hour specials. This bar often has great specials to include pizza, burgers, and beers. I used to come here to get the pizza special when I could get wine with it, but it only comes with beer now...bummer. Their pizza is okay. It's not the best, but it's pretty good. It's more of a snack, than anything else. I'm always still hungry after I have a slice. I will sometimes opt to just grab food from the hot bar and bring it over to the bar to eat with friends who may be dining at the bar. The last time I visited, I tried their goat cheese wontons, which were really tasty. I would get them again except, you don't get too many in a serving. My friend also ordered the sushi and the orange chicken so we could all share...except....there isn't much to share. Portions are tiny, which is a shame because it's a bar, and you will probably go there with friends, hoping to share some pupus....but you can't because the portions are too small. I will have to agree with some of my fellow yelpers. Service here is not the best. I get that this is not a restaurant, but if you are going to have servers, I would recommend some additional training. This Whole Foods is particularly busy and it would be worth exploring. Our waitress would disappear for a long time. I think I would prefer to go back to the olden days, when I just ordered my food, took my number to my table, and have it brought out without the fuss of placing an order with a waitress. I'll be back for happy hour because I think it's a good deal. I just have to bring someone along so they can drink my beer. read more

I have to say, I wasn't expecting much, we are at a bar inside a grocery store, but when the wife wants beers, I'm hungry, and we are shopping, might as well stop by! We waited to have someone help us for at least 5 minutes, standing at the cash register. We then ordered Alisa's beer, my lemon chicken, rice, and edemame, and Alisa's taro burger. The food didn't take long, but the chicken was terrible, and the rice didn't come with the meal. When we asked the person who brought us our food he said the rice comes from the other side. After another few minutes we asked the cashier and she said she would bring it to us. When it finally came the cashier told me, "a little overdone, but thats okay." Wow! Then we started eating, never having been there before we didn't know that there was a carousel outside the bar area with fork and knives, but were directed there. I have complained many times that there is not enough staff during busy hours but I have not seen any improvement.
