The park is perfectly placed and laid out for events. Lot's of seating in the sun and shade, trail access, decent mix of shade cover and open sunny areas, plus it feels really safe. The trail that extends through this park is one of my faves. It is wide, flat, and gorgeous. I usually walk from here to where the Hollywood Hills wineries are, then back. Perfect flat walk for people with strollers, dogs, etc. The parking is limited- only about 15 spots. The baseball fields across the street aren't much better. I usually try to find parking at Woodin Creek or, if I have to, pay for the Schoolhouse District parking. A magical oasis in the middle of our sweet suburb!

The playground is great for kids aged 4-14. My little daredevil gave me a heart-stopping moment on the spinning climber, but thankfully she managed to hold on and avoid scraping her knee. Her sisters were beaming with joy, making it a fun-filled afternoon for all! A heads up: parking might fill up quickly, so plan accordingly. We actually took the local bus, which worked out great, so there's a convenient public transportation option available. The park borders the Sammamish River trail and offers a lovely view of Lake Sammamish from the walking trails. I recommend bringing a blanket or camping chairs - there's plenty of grassy space around the play area.

Heritage Park is a not-so-hidden gem that somehow only the very-locals make their way there, even…read morethough it is steps away from the ever-so-popular Marina Park. This park is behind the Heritage Hall with easy walking paths for a stroll, see the water from a distance, walk the dog, and/or play tennis. They have two tennis courts (see photo). During springtime, they have several cherry blossom trees that bloom beautifully. Parking is plentiful by the street or use their small lot (see photo). I usually am walking over from downtown to extend my walking distance. There are two benches to enjoy the water view. There are no official children's play area, though there are some natural stones for climbing in a separated area (see photo). This park is simple, immensely peaceful, and a great place to just chill.

Woodin Creek Park leads to the Sammamish River Trail. There are only 5 parking spots, and all 5 of them were full when Ryan and I arrived at this park, so we parked near the sports field and walked over to this park. I had been wanting to check out this park because I play basketball occasionally with friends and I have been searching for an infrequently-used outdoor basketball court that we can play on when the weather gets a bit warmer. Last year, when I was healthy enough to do it, I played basketball at home (but with the way that my back yard is structured as well as the only reasonable place to put the basketball hoop, the surroundings are less than ideal for retrieving a runaway ball), and I also played on the basketball court at Rhododendron Park in Kenmore, but the scent of heavy traffic at that other park was kind of off-putting to me as I am sensitive to smells and wanted a court where the air smelled like trees instead of heavy exhaust. This basketball court at this park smells nice - nature smells mostly - and it is mostly surrounded by a wide flat grassy meadow, making it easy to retrieve the basketball if it rolls away. I think I have found a better place to play basketball with my friends this year! As mentioned in the other review, there is also one tennis court at this park. No one was playing basketball or tennis when we visited. There isn't much for kids to do here, unless they play basketball or tennis, or some other sport where a medium-sized grassy meadow would be useful (soccer? badminton?), but that's fine by me, just thought I would note it for people who enjoy taking their kids to the park. No swings, play center, slides, things like that. Ryan and I enjoyed our visit to this park.

Just off Redmond Way and in the shadow of a high rise hotel, is a small parking lot that I've never seen fully occupied. The covered picnic area shelters several tables and the grassy area is perfect for lawn games or running children. Not far down the adjacent, paved Sammamish Trail is water access for splashing or communing with the water fowl, as well as a fishing pier for specially created those with disabilities. Fast food is available nearby if you forget your picnic lunch. Come, sit a spell and relax! I've always accessed this area from the Sammamish Slough Trail which runs alongside the slough, and I've always loved this grassy meadow area, just south of the Redmond Way bridge. There's a small stepped ramp for folks to walk their canoes or kayaks to the water, and a sweeping weeping willow across the slough to the west, with a picturesque picnic table nearby. The Landing itself, like the rest of the slough trail, has been renovated and updgraded a few years back. It still has a lovely trailed loop and expansive grassy area for folks to play frisbee or let their dogs run, but now is more tended too, and less "wild". During Redmond's annual "Redmond Lights" festival in December, the Landing here is ablaze with warming bonfires, XMas lights and singing choirs or entertainers. It's a lovely spot to break while biking or walking or jogging on the trail, to or from Marymoor or Redmond Town Center or the Woodinville wineries, etc.

The rest is concrete with a theatre tribune for shows, dances or other events. Spray part for kids to enjoy water on summer days, and plenty of tables with chairs to sit and have a picnic or an icecream! Few trees on that part. The elevated grassy part can be used for playing or walking your dog. Just beware to stop kids before the edge and prevent an accident. It gets busy on summer. There's also a Saturday market. You can park at RTC or on a near park parking lot.

The Redmond Downtown Park was completed not long ago in 2018 and is in the perfect location surrounded by businesses, apartments, and also is not far from the town center. It's a wide two-acre park that features a wide circular grass lawn, landscaping and gardens, active splash pads from May to September, plus a pavilion and stage. The dining groove is especially pretty in the springtime when all the cherry blossom trees are in full bloom! Most of the tables generally become occupied around lunchtime, but many people like to host a picnic on the grass lawn as well. Events would be held at the park prior to the pandemic, and sometimes art sculptures are left on display. Park has always been well-kept. Street parking, bicycle racks, and public restrooms are available. There is plenty of clearance, but still do be mindful if you bring your children as two major roads border the park.

I am often surprised by this park every time I come by here.
