Parking is available but will cost you during the week except Sundays. Today was a beautiful day - lots of people, ducks, and even rentals for Kayaking. Lovely beach park in Kirkland. We went during the long weekend, midday and it wasn't too crowded until we left. Both parking lots were full so I can only imagine how crowded it gets during the summer. Great spot for the kids to play on the playground and also get some Sandy/rocky beach play in too. I don't know if this can be termed a park as it's more of a beach and dock with a playground next to it. When the honey and I dropped in it was fairly windy, but had beautiful views. Our main 'eh' was that it was a fairly steep walk down to the park, with no sidewalk or easy access. I could see this area being mostly used by locals to swim and lounge, although it did have some gorgeous water views. Overall, in a car with kids I'd say it would be a great choice for a fun weekend spot. read more

This is a great beach park north of the downtown Kirkland area. It's a little hidden beach with views of the Seattle skyline and a boardwalk the loops around. I visited on a Friday afternoon around 1pm and the place was packed, mostly with families. Luckily, I was able to snag the last available spot in the lower parking lot that's right by the beach. Parking is tough here though. The lower parking lot is small, so spots fill up quickly, since every Washingtonian hits the beach on clear days. There is an upper parking lot walking distance up from the beach, but that also fills up quickly and isn't spacious. Get here early. The beach is on the smaller side, especially when compared to other beaches in Kirkland and nearby Juanita Beach Park. But, I do like that it's hidden, especially since the entrance is down a steep hill in the middle of a neighborhood. There was ample green space to lay out and stake a spot, but I did see many people on the boardwalk laying out. There were lifeguards here, restrooms that were surprisingly much cleaner than other public beach parks I've been to and picnic areas. Dogs are allowed at the beach, but they're not allowed in the water. Along the boardwalk are many areas where you can dive off and swim. Overall, this is a nice beach park in Kirkland. Just remember to arrive here early if you want to park in the lower lot, closest to the beach and get a spot on the grass area. I'd definitely like to come back here when it's more quiet in the earlier part of the day to relax and lay out. read more

Lived in the area my whole life and I always forget about Waverly Beach Park, I'm glad the kids suggested it recently because it's a great beach park! The lifeguards are attentive and they have loaner life jackets. The water is really clean comparatively to other beach parks in the area. Best sunset views in the area! New playground for kids and a large grassy area perfect for picnics.

My family spends a lot of time at parks during the summer and this one is a favorite. Playground is suitable for kids of different ages (this is surprisingly rare in the Kirkland area). The water is certainly shallow and life guards are on duty on the beach during the summer. People fish off the dock and it is a bit exposed to the lake (i.e. boaters) so I wouldn't want to swim outside of the designated swimming zone. Shady in the mornings and can be quite cool when its even slightly windy. Don't miss a walk to the end of the dock on a clear day for an absolutely stunning view of Mt. Rainier. Covered bbqs and picnic tables. Parking can be challenging - and people don't always park in legal/marks spots so take care with both your vehicle and your children. Stairs from the upper parking lot down to the park are useful but a little hard to see. Bathrooms are generally clean and good natural light. Water fountain. Great space and feels very removed from the busy town center. read more

This is a great neighborhood family park. There's a walkway/dock that wraps around the beach where kids can safely play without getting too far on their own. I went there on a busy weekend so I parked up the street. There's a small parking lots right next to the water, another small lot further up the hill and then tons of street parking outside the entrance. I was ok walking my bags down the hill but it might be tough with kids and a lot of stuff. This park has great views. read more

This park is gorgeously located between downtown Kirkland and Juanita Beach. It's smaller than the parks in both of these other locations but being more remote lends itself to fewer people finding it. So on a given sunny day, you usually find more space per person to spread out and relax. There are bathrooms, swimming areas, a nice walkway out onto the water, covered space for rent, lifeguards on busy summer days and lots of great green space surrounding the kids play area. Amazing hidden little 3 acre park near the much better known Juanita Beach. Waverly has a nice green patch with a play area for the kids, but the star of the show is perfect picturesue pic nic area and a long pier that protects a shallow water swimming area and offers lots of benches and places to dip your feet. On most summer days, there's even a shaved ice/ hot dog vendor. At dusk, you can see the high rises of both Bellevue and Seattle. This is great for a stroll and especially family friendly. The bikini beaches are found further north near downtown Kirkland. On hot days, you'll hear the roar of boats, but most of the time, this quaint little park offers lots of time and space for contemplation and solitude read more

Very nice quiet park during the weekday. There's such good space around the water. Nothing like sitting in the dock in those artistic benches. I'm envious of the house next door. You can roll out of bed and right to the park lol in your slippers & cup of coffee lol. It's a nice neighborhood of million dollar houses. if you're feeling like a nice stroll, just walk down Waverly straight to Heritage Park and then to the Marina. I'm always on the lookout for the bald eagles which I've seen on Yelp pics! read more

Compact little park tucked away a few minutes from Downtown Kirkland; perfect for family fun on a sunny day or a few minutes of solitude during most of the rest of the year. The park is either bustling or nearly empty, it's rarely in between. It has a protected swimming area and playground toys for the young ones. During the summer there's a snack shop. Parking is difficult; there's a very narrow upper lot, and a small lower lot. On a hot summer day you might have to walk down from Waverly Way, but it's not a long trek. The park is at the base of a hill and the community above its groundwater must drain through it so the grass area is lush but rarely totally dry. Not a reason to avoid the park, but a consideration if you're planning a picnic on a blanket. read more

What a great little beach on Lake Washington. I came here late afternoon on a week day and there was a decent crowd but I was still able to find a great spot to call my own on the dock. There are a lot of children who are there to have fun so if loud kids bother you, pick another beach because this one is small and the kids are unavoidable. They didn't bother me one bit as they were all polite and I loved to hear the fun squeals of summer! There appear to be 2 small parking lots here and by miracle I found a spot. I imagine parking can be quite tricky so make sure to come early to secure your spot. There is a grassy area with picnic tables and there are bathrooms that are typical of a public park. I can best describe this beach as Juanita Beach's gorgeous little step-sister. Tucked away down past Heritage Park, you'll find an amazing little 3 acre park. Complete with snack shop, bait shop for fishing, boardwalk dock area, swimming, lifegaurds (per schedule), a great little play ground for the kids, and what Juanita beach is most missing... SHADE near the water. The trees left here to mature leave plenty of open space while providing so many options for shaded lounging. Ample parking for most anytime the weather is under 80 degrees, and often a completely "secret" and forgotten little park where you can enjoy it alone. Even when it's crowded, you still feel like you're enjoying a hidden little gem. read more

Waverly Beach Park is a great park/beach. It has a boardwalk and a grass area too. There is lots of space around the water, includes a bathroom, covered space to rent out, grass surrounding the playground for kids. It is great to take a walk on the boardwalk in the summer or whenever. Would recommend this half beach, half park. read more

So I was driving aimlessly after work waiting for some nerd bowling night and passed a tiny sign. Ended up here. Super cute! Multi-million dollar houses are right next to this tiny little water area. Seems like only the locals know it-- which is really nice as Greenlake is only so fun when you've seen every burnt bridge friendship running around there. Didn't seem like a great place to swim / not large enough for a walk, but perhaps for a kayak / paddleboard launch. Or, fishing, as several people where doing that at 8:30pm. Also! There is a park for kids AND bathroom with toilet paper and soap. Dog-friendly too :) Parking: You wouldn't know it, but near the tiny "Waverly Park " sign if the gate is open you can drive your car down there for parking. I parked on the side street and realized that afterwards. read more

Took the kiddos to this park last week for a little playdate with my son's kindergarten class. The park is quiet and near a beach waterfront where the kids can play in the sand. The park also has a little playground with swings, slides and just an area to run around, put a blanket on the ground to relax and even have a little picnic. This is the best spot for sunset watching! Best kept secret on the eastside. My husband and I have been 3 times this summer and the spectacular show at sundown is unique each time! Parking is limited if you want to watch from your car, but the dock has seating too. Haven't purchased from the shaved ice guy yet...we bring our own ...treats, plus a camera. read more

Waverly Beach is a family friendly neighborhood park with waterfront access. The park has beautiful views of the Olympic mountain range as well as the Seattle skyline, and the old Sand Point Naval Air Station. As a former lifeguard for the City of Kirkland in the late 1970's, I had the pleasure to manage this park as well as Houghton Beach and the Kirkland Pool. Parks & Recreation Director, David Brink was a pleasure to work with and is directly responsible for the vibrant waterfront parks in Kirkland. I remember there being lifeguards, but I don't remember them being such tools! First of all the sign says all children under 12 must stay within the chest deep rope area... that would be cool if the rope was actually chest deep... half of the rope was dragging on the bottom, that's how shallow it was. When I took my 6y/o daughter over the rope so I could get more than my ankles wet I was quickly greeted with a "reminder" that all children under 12 must stay inside the rope. That's funny because last time I checked I am a better parent to my daughter than a high school kid with a whistle and a fanny pack. The megaphone reminders continued all afternoon. The beach has a dock, but forget about jumping off the end. That is a no swimming zone. The wide open lake! Is a no swimming zone! Not even for just my daughter, but for me! An adult who is allowed to vote for the president, and volunteer my life for this country! I cant jump off of a dock at a public park into a lake! The kicker was at 6pm, when the lifeguards were off duty they made everyone "exit the water"... umm what!? You can't close the lake... it's a lake... the real icing on the cake came when the 4 lifeguards sped off in who I can only assume was the mitch Buchanan of the bunch's truck with 3 of them sitting on the edge of the truck bed.. after an entire day of parenting my kid, and enforcing "rules" they drove away breaking a basic traffic law! 0 stars will not be back. We were only there because juanita beach was closed because it's too dirty. Maybe the city can stop paying high schoolers to parent my kid, and put that money towards cleaning up the lake! read more
