A wonderful SUP spot right on Juanita beach - though you do have to walk a bit to the launch spot. They have TANDEM and even FOUR PEOPLE, Eight people SUPs! and THREE PEOPLE KAYAKS! I have never seen paddle boards so gigantic. I paid $29 (+ tax) for 1 hour on a single paddle board. I forgot to take pictures, I wish I did :( The staff were super nice and gave very thorough instructions. The check in and check out process is really easy. read more

We had a great time paddling on the lake during Labor Day weekend. Jeff was super accommodating to allow us to switch from Adam Street rental to Juanita location. He gave us a quick lesson and set us up with the paddles and off we go. The kids went off without any problem, I had to kneel for a few mins before I can stand up. As long as you are paddling, it is not hard to stand up. You can see the beautiful skyline and lovely area around the Juanita reserve area. The water was clean and clear. We had so much fun! Had a great experience with these guys on Juanita Beach this month. My party of four was a bit challenging - a member of our party fell ill just before we had reserved our boards. NPSurfers was really accommodating and rescheduled us to the next day without penalty. Their flexibility was really helpful. This was my first time paddleboarding, and as someone who is not terrifically athletic, I was a bit nervous going in. But the staffer at NPSurfers gave us great instruction, and after a bit of flailing about out in the lake, I was able to get up and moving. There was a bit of choppy water in the lake, but it was manageable even to this newbie. Great experience and well-run outfit, would absolutely rent here again. read more

Super fun! The Juanita location had pretty friendly staff, and there's parking (although not necessarily plenty of it) at the park. There's a little briefing you get from the staff before you take the boards out, but it was our first time and we got the hang of it almost right away. The lake is really lovely to paddle on, with ducks and turtles almost a paddle's reach away. It was a bit choppy the day we went because it was hot out so there were lots of boats and jetskis out, but they're usually respectful of boarders and try not to make it too difficult to paddle on. I do have one gripe though. We booked for 6pm and that's their last rental hour before they close, and we had to wait for the boards to come back in before we could go out, so we weren't out until about 6:15, and of course they closed at 7 so we had to be back before that happened. So, we didn't get the full hour for our rental. But for $20, it wasn't TOO much of a loss, even though it was a bit disappointing. read more

I had a good time paddle boarding here! Juanita is sooo nice! You're on Lake Washington here. For our group of 5, we had to make reservations ahead of time. $20/hr regularly, but we had groupons for half off. Ample parking in the lot, but it was pretty early in the morning. The water on Lake Union is a lot more calm since it's a smaller lake, so sometimes I felt like I was going to fall here, but I didn't. However, at Lake Union I never even felt a bit unbalanced. So with the water being a bit more rough, it also made traveling thru it easier. Each paddle of the water made me travel further than at Lake Union. So that was nice. Also, bigger lake, more just enjoying the water instead of the boat houses all around Lake Union. I def recommend and buy the groupon when you see it! read more

Initially, we did not have a good experience. We arrived 15 minutes before our scheduled SUP lesson. No one was there. I tried calling the business, no answer. It wasn't until I asked the life guards at Juantita Beach Park what the deal was. Apparently, this week the employees had been arriving late for some reason. They said that they usually arrive early, but for some reason this week was different. OK, I get life happens. Anyway, they arrived at our appointed lesson time, but they still had to set up shop (kayaks, paddle boards, etc.) so our scheduled lesson started 30 minutes late. No problem, we're patient people; albeit, a bit annoyed, and hoping our time was not penalized. So as the lesson starts, Jeff was our teacher. Now it gets really good! We chose the lesson, because we want to get the correct information and to learn from an expert. And Jeff was all those things! He was super patient, gave us a lot of information, and was really easy-going. We toured along the protected area, across the lake and then back to our launch spot near the boardwalk. All the while, Jeff was conscious of our surroundings and other paddlers and kayakers offering them advise or checking on them. At the end of our session, Jeff apologized about the delay and let us go out again on our on, at our leisure. AND we didn't fall in!!! :) Also, I really like where we were at. Juanita Beach Park doesn't have a lot of boat traffic or jet skiers, so there was less anxiety on my part about the wake on the water. I have to say our first time SUP was a success! This was a last minute plan we made Friday night for Juanita Beach Park. Note: to use a groupon you have to reserve online, and to reserve online you need to book 12 hours in advance. I missed that window by 20mins, but the first timeslot of the day showed 8 empty slots, so we showed up right at 10am Saturday and were able to get 2 paddleboards for 1 hr no problem. They would not accept the Groupon that I'd purchased since we didn't have an online reservation. Oliver was helpful and has a deadpan kinda humor. We didn't get much instruction, it was our first time ever paddle-boarding, but we had watched an intro video on youtube( https://youtu.be/ES2mShoQ3_Q )and were able to pick it up easily. We will be back to use the 2 hr Groupon! 1hr was good to start, but you're gonna want 2 hrs once you get the hang of it and start having fun! Paddled out kneeling, came back standing tall! read more

It's our first time trying paddling and it was a great experience. Reserve our time, check in, receive a short and useful intro and off you "go". It was hard to balance on the board but it's a learning experience, we had a blast on the lake and the views are fabulous. It was a very busy weekend and there's lots of people at the small launch area. I wish they have a small locker for people to put away keys and other valuables. The young man working at the Adams Street boat ramp was nice enough but the "paddleboards" are the blow up kind...not good for heavier weight or beginners. Since the rental cost is over the going rate, I expected a real paddleboard. Disappointed. UPDATE: In responses to owners comment...I used your equipment and it was substandard compared to other rentals I have used, period. You should inform people online what equipment you use, before they pay (and judging by the other comments, refunds are never issued). I would have NEVER rented a blow up board and would have gone elsewhere, because I am a beginner and not tiny. You got my money once and I learned my lesson. Blow up paddleboards are less stable than real ones, especially for bigger folks and there is PLENTY of research backing me up. The "best" inflatable SUP is still an INFLATABLE SUP. A group of us came here 2 Saturdays ago. It was a beautiful day to be on the water, and the place was packed. MAKE A RESERVATION. Even if you think they won't be busy, you never know. The staff at the desk were really nice, we had 3 out of 4 reservations and a groupon. They breezed through it all. BRING A LIFE VEST! They have the ancient old orange ones, and the law is that you need to wear it. so unless you look stylish in orange.... We booked for 2 hours and it was really fun... the first bit we paddled around the swimming area, but after we mastered it, went went under the dock and out to the boat area... It was really fun. I fell. a lot. :/ I really want to come here again! And tell everyone I know to try it too. Really fun. read more

Overall good experiences, but thier cancellation and rescheduling policy is awful. When a rainy cold day in August comes up people should be allowed to reschedule. I would not expect a refund but the chance to reschedule seems appropriate. read more

The Marina Park location is terrible. We went on Wednesday...could not find a place to park, maybe because the Farmer's Market was setting up. There was no tent, just a young man with an iPad. He had to go get the boards, gave me a paddle for a giant. It was cloudy, the wind was blowing and the waves were pretty big. I never did attempt to stand up. After 1 3/4 hours of paddling on my knees, I gave up. When I returned, he said it's always like that, windy and big waves. It would have been nice to know that Juanita Park is calmer and has parking. I would have cancelled but then I would have lost my Groupon. read more

Overall we had a good experience - we got a paddle boarding deal on Travelzoo for 2 people for 2 hours. We arrived on a busy Sunday afternoon, were promptly greeted and attended to. They have a place you can store your stuff, so don't worry about your keys getting wet. We were escorted onto the section of the beach that had all the paddle boards lying around. We were given two paddles and told - "you're all set! have fun!" You can imagine our surprise to the lack of instructions or even a basic lesson in how the heck to get onto that slippery board. I've never paddle boarded before and would have really appreciated a quick lesson. The person also didn't seem to know anything about the paddle boards, because they were different shapes and when we asked if it matters which one we choose and also why they are different, she said it didn't matter and that we should just grad whatever... Okaaaay. Regardless we had a lot of fun on the water and would probably do it again. Just don't expect any training, help or instructions. Addition (7/9/14): Staff claims that you get "on-shore safety briefing and basic technique instruction." What that was for us was "put that ankle strap on your ankle and have the board face this way". There were no basic technique instruction at all. Chill and flexible company. We made reservations on a day that turned out to be cloudy and windy but rescheduling was a breeze. Northwest Paddle Surfers provided everything we needed (life jacket, etc.) for our paddle boarding and had optional add-ons like dry bags on site. We have had multiple good experiences here. If you are wanting to SUP at peak times in the day, just make sure you go to the website and make a reservation. Otherwise you may take your chances walking up. There's no calling them, however, you can text them. Staff here is very friendly. I've come here multiple times with husband, friends, and relatives. Had been to Juanita State Park before and thought it would be great to SUP here so when I saw a Groupon for the rental of boards here, I had to buy. I was running a little late, about 10 minutes, and the young man who worked there gave me zero attitude. Super duper friendly guy with brown hair. He then asked our skill level and gave us a short refresher based on that. We went at 10AM and the lake was calm and not crowded at all. I paddled way out and even laid down on my back and just drifted for awhile. Pure bliss. My 13 yr old son said it was his favorite place to paddle also. There were a few power boats and jet skis but nothing too crazy. We had bought the two person two hour rental and made sure we were back on time. The young man said they weren't too strict had we been over our time by 10-15minutes. We can't wait to go again...and even see if our puppy will sit on one of our boards with us. read more

The staff was overwhelmed but friendly enough. They seemed very knowledgable though. The equipment was decent, for as much money they make I expected a little more (various sizes of life jackets, for instance). It would be helpful if their website posted more information for beginners, such as times of day when the water is more rough, weather patterns and how that impacts stand up paddleboarding, etc. The water was really rough the day we visited and it was my first time, I didn't stand up until we were returning; so 1.75 hours of paddling on my knees bruised my knees and feet. Well I had originally wanted to try this at the Juanita location due to the fact we were beginners but the city closed the beach and our reservation was honored at Kirkland Marina. Downside was that there was a bit of a wind and as the site says busier with boat traffic. The staff were amazing and really went above and beyond I felt during our experience. My son was struggling to get the board out and away from the dock area and clearly frustrated by the fact the wind kept pushing him back. One of the employees tried to help from the shore but it was clear the frustration level was high, so he hopped on a board and gave my son a private lesson. Towed him around and pulled him out to where he was further out with his friends, this was for completely the turning point for what could have been a horrible experience for an 11 year old. It meant that the 11 year old had some fun, got a private lesson and ended the day on a positive note, they allowed us to use one board together and it was all smiles and fun for the rest of our rental time. I would rate them 0 stars if I could. We purchased 4 paddle boards and when we came for our appointment they only had 3 for us to use. They told us they won't refund us because it's not their fault that someone else was on the lake past their time. I paid for their service which they did not provide, therefore I expect a refund for what they failed to deliver on. They are a joke when it comes to service and a nightmare to deal with. Groupon for this was great. We rented 4 boards for 2 hours near Seward and the weather was lovely. My brothers kids came for a visit and had a true PNW experience. The young guy who ran the stand was very nice. He commented on how to use the paddle, but gave no instruction on getting on the boards or how to stand up - only how to get back on if you fall off which seems inevitable without the prior instruction. We really like going to the location in Seattle near Adams Street and Lake Washington Blvd- just north of Seward Park. It is just an outdoor stand with a shed where the Paddleboards and other gear are stored. The staff will keep your phone/keys/etc. in a lock box for you though. You can paddle over to Seward Park or just go along the shoreline. Beautiful views of Mt. Rainier, Mt. Baker The staff will give you pointers and make sure you are all set up. The location is great for getting into the lake- a good shallow area to get set up and scoot off into the water. You can buy a season pass for $30 that gets you half off on weekday rentals and 25% off weekend rentals- so it pays for itself pretty quickly. The draw back though... the website says they are open until 8PM. Sometimes I've shown up at 7 and they are gone- or even 6PM and the staff will say they aren't sending anyone else out b/c they are closing at 7. It's a bummer b/c I have tried to race there afterwork only to find no one is there. My wife went there today after school with the kids- no one there at 4PM. Odd since it was a beautiful, sunny, warm day. So more consistency with hours and better communication regarding when they close for the season would be helpful. read more

Buyer beware. I tried SEVERAL weekends and time slots to schedule a groupon AND a living social. They require reservations though their online reservation system. 1. Even if a time slot says 6 available I was unable to schedule every single time. 2. Their FAQ section says they have boards available for walk up, bring your friends. First attempt to use groupon: could not get a response via their recommended email system or phone so I decided to drop in and schedule in person. The employee was having problems using their online access reservation system but assured me that my husband and I would be able to get in if we arrived 15 minutes in advance, even without reservations because they ALWAYS have extra boards. Arranged for babysitting, headed down for our SUP date and there were NO BOARDS AVAILABLE. I returned my groupon. Second attempt: tried to reserve using their online system was unable to reserve even though it showed lots of availability. (This was on Monday that I tried to reserve) double and triple checked to make sure I was doing everything correctly. Yep. Tried the online messaging system. (sent email) No answer. Tried again, (sent email) no answer. Left a phone message. No answer on Tuesday. Now it's Thursday. NOTHING IS AVAILABLE FOR SATURDAY ANYMORE. I'm irritated and will not be referring or purchasing any more hours here. That's for sure. Returning my living social. Also: as an FYI: there is no real "lesson" it's just a briefing on shore before they let you loose with their SUP I WOULD NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

This is for location in Juanita Beach Park. I reserved paddle boards there. I was surprised that I need to carry the paddle to the launch place 150 feet away. Not an easy job for everyone, and that counted to your renting hours. The launch place is very small and when I came back, I have to wait for other people to finish their launch. Frankly this is not the best place for paddle board renting. I normally go to Sammanish State Park, which is less crowded, and I do not need to carry the paddle, and I was not under the pressure to be back at exact time - they tolerate small delay, and normally ok to pay for extra time. read more

This review is for Adams Street Boat Ramp location. We made an appointment for 3 persons. Arrived on time. Was offered only 2 boards, because someone else before us was late for their appointment. The NPS rep asked us to wait for 15 mins (we ended up waiting 20 mins). The customer rep assured us that we'd get our booked 2 hours and the time would start when we get the third board. So while waiting for the 3rd board we asked if it was ok to set our two boards afloat. The rep was ok with it. When we had gotten the third board I noted the time we began. In 1 hour and 40 mins the rep started waving from the shore asking two of us to moor. When I asked about 20 more minutes the representative said that he had told us that the time begins when the board hits the water (which he had not). It turned out that he started the timer for 2 of us when we set our boards afloat. If you make a reservation for 3 persons, you usually expect to start and finish together. Bad appointments handling. Bad communication. Can't stick to one's word. Well deserved 1 star. read more

I purchased a Groupon for my boyfriend and I (2 boards for 2 hours) a couple weekends ago. We selected to redeem at Marina Park in Kirkland. I was able to reserve a time easily even a couple days before the desired reservation. We showed up right on time (try to be there 10 minutes early like they suggest). We were given lifejackets, boards and paddles, and a brief introduction. We had a blast. The waters were way too rocky to paddle board though. The boats coming in and out of the marina caused huge waves (I got sea sick it was so bumpy and aggressive). We couldn't stay on the board longer than a minute before falling off. We were a little disappointed, but still had fun sitting on the board and paddling around. We plan on renting again before the summer ends, but will probably book for the Juanita Beach Park location, because the water seems to be more calm. read more

We went to rent from their Juanita Beach location on 7/1 and had a very enjoyable experience. Three college age kids were running the show when we arrived and they were very busy checking people in and handled the rush wonderfully in my opinion. They checked us in and were very easy going even though they had a good amount of people left in line. Then they gave us a helpful little "how-to" speech before sending us out and we had an awesome time. We will for sure be coming back to rent from them in the future. Used a groupon on this place. Easy to find and in an ideal place for paddle boarding or kayaking. A nice, low traffic cove. Also a great swim beach there too. Nice friendly staff, decent price, nice area for basic kayaking , nothing exotic, the only negative point is we were asked to take the kayaks to the shore and bring them back which I believe should be the staff responsibility, these things area heavy. Granted, they were somewhat busy! read more

My friend and I had a great experience paddle boarding on Friday June 7th. The staff was so friendly and helpful. They checked us in, fitted us for our paddles and then led us down to the beach where the boards were waiting for us. The lake is gorgeous but it is windy out there. Keep that in mind when you are paddling- at some point you do have to go against the wind. The boards are really nice- definitely big and wide and sturdy. The life jackets we were given were brand new and very comfortable. When we got back, again, the guys that work there were so friendly and nice and chit chatty- genuinely seem to enjoy working there. Definitely gave us a great feeling about our experience. And there's this awesome farmers market on Fridays in the summer starting at 3pm right behind the boat house so we got to enjoy that too! We parked right behind the building and kept our valuables in the car, but they let us keep our shoes and bag in the boat house there if we wanted. I haven't taken the SUP yoga class here, but I did take the teacher Lindsay on Lake Sammamish and she led a fantastic class. I can't wait to come back and try it here. read more

Some friends and I went paddle boarding at Juanita Beach on Labor Day. We used a groupon for a 2-hour rental and had an awesome time. The weather was perfect, no wind, and minimal boaters. The two guys at the rental counter were extremely friendly and helpful. The boards were quite stable, but for first-timers I'd recommend the Juanita location. It's beautiful and less busy than downtown Kirkland. I read reviews beforehand, so I knew the Marina location would have more difficult parking and rougher waters from all the boaters (especially on a weekend). I wish I had brought a watch, but not knowing the time made for a good excuse to be friendly with nearby boaters. read more
