It's been 15 years since I last visited Marina Park, and I couldn't have picked a better moment to return. Between appointments, I noticed the sky shifting colors and knew exactly where I needed to be. The public parking here is a game-changer--conveniently nestled between the beach and the shops, something you don't see much of in the surrounding cities. What I love most is the balance--there's so much to do within a block, yet the park still attracts plenty of people, like me, who just want a quiet moment to reflect. Ten minutes wasn't nearly enough to take it all in--the view, the ducks, the energy. Next time, I'm staying longer. And yes, I'll be back with some bread... because I'm that guy. read more

Marina Park is located in downtown Kirkland and is a great place for a stroll along the water. You can sit on one of the many benches and see the nice view of the water and the Seattle skyline. There are tons of nearby shops and restaurants so it's a great place to walk around after lunch or dinner. Because it's a nice area it can get really busy and packed especially during the summer. This is a very nice little park that is just great all year long. During the summer, kids are playing in the mini beach, folks are having a bite on a bench or one of the picnic tables, and there's a farmers market on Sundays. The pavilion has live music occasionally. And it's right by the water! The water provides a very peaceful feeling and is simply the biggest draw to being out there. I like going during the winter time when it's less crowded. It feels like I have it all to myself, feeling the wind blow. Parking is street and at some of the small lots nearby. A small park in Downtown Kirkland that offers a beautiful waterside view! There isn't much to do besides just taking in the scenery. A couple of benches are spread across the semi-circle in which you can sit and watch the boats or water activities. Other than that, the park has a pavilion, couple of public art pieces, and a sandy section. I haven't attended before, but the city also hosts a seasonal Wednesday afternoon market during the months of June to September. Public restrooms and city Wi-Fi are available along with paid parking in the nearby lot. read more

My husband and I had a peaceful late afternoon sitting quietly at this relaxing waterfront park earlier today. It's a great place for families with small children. Most of the people we saw there today fit that category. More than one family decided to feed the ducks. The ducks are very bold here and will come up to you and get very close to you and stay there for a while, looking right at you and possibly quacking at you (even if you don't feed them - we didn't). My husband and I found this to be amusing, but one small girl got very scared by this. There are voluminous amounts of duck poop on one specific spot on the path near the water, but because it's all in the same area it's very easy to notice it and avoid it. The fountain is really pretty, and my husband liked the large covered gazebo-like building. I liked the wrap-around cement structure that separates the beach from the walking path. It can be used as either 2 sturdy steps to walk down to get closer to the water, or else can be used as a bench to sit on. The trees, rocks, docks, and boats in the area all add to the peaceful atmosphere. Hanging out here today was one of my husband and I's favorite parts of our day. read more

I came to the downtown Kirkland Marina Park for the Sip Kirkland wine tasting event and loved every minute I spent out here! Even though there were a lot of people at this event there was still plenty of areas to sit and enjoy the water! I love how you can walk the docks and see all of the boats anchored. It's a truly beautiful park and it has plenty of grassy areas that can be used for a picnic outing or just casual lounging by the water. read more

Marina Park is a park located on the downtown Kirkland waterfront. It is a bit on the small side, but the docks make this an interesting place to visit. This is the location of numerous Kirkland events during the summer including a July 4th fireworks celebration which I attended over the weekend. While the Downtown Bellevue fireworks display is the largest on the Eastside, the Kirkland one is worth visiting because it has a picturesque view of Lake Washington. And since the fireworks displays in other parts of the Seattle area including the one at Lake Union occur around the same time, you can see those fireworks in the background. The park was crowded. If you want to get a good spot, make sure to come a couple hours before the fireworks start to stake your beach towel/chair spot here. Public parking was limited near the park, but it was pretty easy to find street parking in one of the side streets a few blocks away. If you are looking for a place to chill in downtown Kirkland, Marina Park would be the place to go. And I would definitely consider going to see the Kirkland 4th of July fireworks display again next year. The show was excellent and it saves me a drive to Seattle and dealing with the traffic of the one at Lake Union. read more

Beautiful, serene, and clean! I love strolling along the water down here whenever I'm in the area. Sunsets here are beautiful and so relaxing - you almost forget that you're in a city looking out across the water at another big city. You can easily find free street parking north of here or if you accidentally go into the shopping area a block away, you can pay by phone or by using the paybyphone app. Enjoy the good food options in the area and then come sit by the water and enjoy the view! If wine tasting is for you, that can be found around the corner. If beer is more your style, have one at Flatstick Pub with your furry friends and then head over. read more

this is one of my favorite go-to places in the spring and summer. The park offers swimming for the kids, and is just a nice place to go and bring some food and eat. Restrooms are available at the marina and parking is free (3 hour minimum) until 5:00pm and then $1 an hour after 5:00pm. This Kirkland area is alive and has lots of places to grab food or a glass of wine. Fun place to go and hang out. Things to remember: 1) if after 5:00pm, make sure to pay your parking fees 2) Be careful to watch small children that are swimming, no lifeguards 3) restrooms are available. read more

Nice park in downtown Kirkland where major community events occur and if it's hot enough - you can swim in Lake Washington! Whenever I'm in downtown Kirkland - it just doesn't seem possible to skip Marina Park because the park is essential to the neighborhood, as it's centrally located along the water where boats dock off of, including Argosy Cruise, and whenever there's a Kirkland event happening, it usually takes place here. Call it the meeting space for all those in downtown Kirkland. There are public restrooms here and plenty of benches and some tables for dining here. There's also a large grass area where people to like hang out on in the summer time, as you can go swimming here, including the dock where the boats are, that you can walk on. There's also a huge gazebo, useful for community events and I've seen private events, like a wedding, rent out the space. The park is walking distance to all downtown Kirkland businesses, and there's a few parking lots for public parking next to the park. It's also dog-friendly and I've seen dogs go in the water without anyone complaining! Overall, this is a nice Kirkland park that seems to bring everyone together in the downtown centre. read more

Parking can be a pain since the parking lot is small. At the time that we came the parking lot was packed even on streets but we eventually found parking. I always swing by the park during the summer! Parking is really easy in multiple lots around downtown and there's always free parking at the library. I love coming on Wednesday's for the farmers market to pick up local produce and any other little snacks in the area. Lots of grassy area for a picnic with some local takeout and facilities are always really clean. This is a gem of a park, right on the waterfront in downtown Kirkland? I ask you, where is there a lovelier place on the eastside on a sunny day? NOWHERE, I say! This is an expansive green area, ideal for picnicking, for the kids to run amok, to lounge and soak your feet in the lake on a summer day....in other words, a peaceful, beautiful retreat behind the cute boutiques of Kirkand on Central Way and Lake Street. Many a rally is held here, as this is the perfect place for large gatherings. It's the equivalent of the old-time city square. Every December, this is where the Argosy Holiday Ships board, so festive and lit up. I love this park simply to people watch, and dog watch, as so many people walk their dogs here (and I've never seen a dog off-leash here, which is refreshing, as elsewhere there are always a few loose dogs). Also refreshing, I've never seen any trash or litter here; this park is always so clean. There are restrooms here, too, which is so convenient. There is an adjacent parking lot where rates are quite inexpensive. I don't recall what they charge, though, as I have always found parking on the street. There is a lovely bronze sculpture here of kids in a row, frolicking and jumping. I've taken some great photos of my kids in line with the bronze children. Great place for a photo shoot! read more

This is a pretty spot to walk around the water, but it's crowded and heavy with kids and dogs (at least when we were there on a sunny Sunday afternoon). Parking is also tough to come by. It is fun to walk around the boats and relax by the water if it's not too crowded. Downtown Kirkland has a lot of fun shops and restaurants to walk around if you have time to explore. read more

This park is one of the many reasons I love Kirkland. Many a lunches, dinners and evenings about have included a walk through the park, sitting and enjoying the views after cavorting in downtown Kirkland. It boasts no major play area, and though it's not set up for swimming of any sort (unlike 90% of all of Kirkland's waterfront and many beaches) that doesn't stop families enjoying a day, and even a dip when the weather warrants. Most popular for mooring and the boat ramps (hence the name, I'm guessing) with paved promenade, a nice large gazebo, benches, etc. My kids love coming down here as well, because the Metro that runs through our neighborhood (good ol 234), comes right past here. They can grab an ice cream or gelato, tour the shops, and goof around whenever the mood, and their available allowance, suits. Quick Tip: Kirkland is no longer a "free but time limited" parking area. Evenings and weekends are still free, and parking costs are ridiculously inexpensive comparatively . read more

Although there are larger public parks, Marina Park does have the virtue of a waterfront location that provides panoramic views of Moss Bay and the west coast of Lake Washington. Mostly notable for having a number of public docks (hence the name Marina Park), there is also a small amount of green space. The docks are first come, first serve and open to the public. There also is an open air pavilion which hosts a summer concert series, although I haven't yet caught any of the acts. Probably best of all is the location near downtown Kirkland; with these views, it's a prime place to wander to in the summer after a meal at one of the adjacent restaurants. read more

I didn't realized I've been here a couple times the last couple years until Cascade Bicycle Club had a meetup event here on a Sunday. This park is very beautiful by Lake Washington! I was lucky to come early enough so that I got a free parking spot. I think normally you have to pay M-F, except Sunday but I don't recall how much it is! Love, Love this place and it's kinda of a hidden gem if you are NOT in the know when it comes to place like this......in saying that somewhere that has a lil bit of everything all in one spot and NOT in Seattle per say. The Kirkland waterfront has grown alot from when I use to frequent this spot, still trendy as you are on the "eastside," yet still savoring the Pacific Northwest feel:) I love that it has a just enough of the beach feel, along with a park and the Marina itself. This is a small little beach park that overlooks the lake...and the day we were there it was absolutely gorgeous! It wasn't packed with people despite the sunshine, but the area itself was definitely busy with lots of people enjoying the nice weather. There are quite a few benches, statues to view, ducks, a gazebo, the docks... lots of good people-watching opportunity for sure! The area is kept very clean and it feels very safe here too.
