The ice cream at Windsor Lake Coffee is probably the best I've ever had. I went with something a little unusual . . . . just because . . . . and was blown away be the result. I went with a salted oreo malt and man was it good. I learned that this is one of the few places in the area that serves Little Man ice cream. What a treat. They also serve food and coffee (obviously) but I can't really comment on that as I just had the ice cream. The atmosphere was eclectic and I definitely saw some furniture that I wish was mine. The staff was great going above and beyond to see that we had a wonderful experience. YOU'VE GOT TO TRY THIS ICE CREAM! (Sorry for the shouty caps but in this case it was necessary. )

I'm leaving 4 stars because I haven't tried some of their other menu items yet. I like this place though. Small town with hardly anything there so this is easily the best coffee shop. Its wide open and plenty of seats. The people that work there are nice too. Their scones and sandwiches are good.. Will be coming everytime I'm in town.

I've been dragging my feet at posting a review for this business, because I've had totally bipolar experiences here - two good, two not so much. Based on my not so great experiences, I reached out to Windsor Lake Coffee directly to discuss and received no response - and now it's been about a month, so I figured I'd go ahead and post in warning. My first negative experience could have been disasterous for the ladies I was with as they have Celiac disease. We came to the shop to get a coffee and some ice cream, as I had been here prior and was telling them how charming it is. When we approached the counter and asked which ice cream was gluten free, the employee responded with they all have gluten - upon later questioning, we realized he confused gluten with dairy - which had they ordered sandwiches could've been a severe situation. The employee also seemed to be annoyed when we tried to explain what gluten is. I went back a few weeks later with my husband and child and we ordered drinks (there is a barista there that makes an amazing bullet proof coffee by the way!) and I saw some cute stained glass in the window. The price tag said $12 and I thought, that's awesome - this is coming home with me. The same young man was behind the counter as I had during our gluten/lactose conversation - and I asked him for assistance getting the piece of stained glass down to purchase it. Upon ringing me up he said "The computer says it's $15, is that fine?" Well, no. That's false advertisement. I kindly explained to him that all the pieces in the window were marked the same and I expected to pay the advertised price. He begrudgingly rung me up, told me he was going to make a note in the system so he "didn't get in trouble" and left my item on the counter and turned away from me - end of transaction I suppose. What I'm hoping from this post is that the owner/manager of this business will: 1) Talk to their employees and inform them about different food allergies and ingredients in their own products. Then those employees can make informed recommendations without jeopardizing the health of their customers. 2) Talk to their employees about customer service standards. If a price is marked a certain way, it's normal to honor that price and not begrudge the customer in doing so. As customers, we have so many choices of where to put our money. My family loves to support local when we feel seen and heard, and that's the bottom line.

The bar almost resembles something you might find in a small European hotel, which may suggest they are aiming for a slightly upscale tone, though it never feels pretentious. The seating is varied, with small tables and retro chairs that seem intentionally chosen rather than bought in bulk. The spacing is better than most coffee shops, which makes it easy to settle in without feeling crowded. The back area opens up even more, and the soft drapery adds a touch of personality that appears to hint at events or just a bit of flair. The staff continues to be the standout for me. Everyone I spoke with was kind in a way that felt natural, and they knew the menu well enough to help me navigate dairy free options. I usually order the avocado toast on focaccia because it is consistently fresh. The bread looks oversized at first but is airy and soft, and the avocado and radish topping feels simple in the best way. The matcha made with water has also become a go to since it tastes smooth and well-bodied without that chalky, thin finish some places have. My partner and I visited during their Dia de Los Muertos weekend and tried a few themed items. Everything was good, and they were quick to suggest dairy free choices. Prices seem fair, even with the general bump everywhere lately. The only thing I wish they had more of is outlets. It is still a nice place to work for a couple of hours, but coming with a charged laptop helps. The overall vibe is calm with just enough energy to keep the space from feeling sleepy. It works well for coffee dates, casual catch ups, or solo work, especially for anyone who prefers a relaxed atmosphere without too much chaos.

Just a couple days ago a friend mentioned Fox Den was one of her favorite coffee places. I guess it was just a little out of the way for me. I didn't make my own coffee this morning on purpose. We were going out to get coffee and a bag of whole beans from one of my favorite FC coffee shops. I suddenly realized I could use this opportunity to finally stop by Fox Den. The SO asks if I want to go there instead. I say yes, but with a little hesitation. I mean how good can this place really be? Will it live up to expectations? Does the "No Waste" theme come at the cost of compromising coffee quality? Upon entering the cafe, I see a wall of mugs to choose from. I pick the Mickey Mouse one. I place my standard new coffee shop order-a cortado and drip coffee. The barista taking my order says that's his favorite mug. The drip coffee comes first. I chose the light roast. It has mild acid, barely perceptible bitterness, and nice smoothe coffee flavor. I really can't ask for a more balanced cup of coffee. One of the best drip coffees I've had in a cafe. My cortado is up. The barista apologizes for his subpar latte art. It's not that bad. Consistently good latte art is not as easy as some baristas make it look, and baristas are allowed to be human. Besides, this is not the Louvre and art is not what I'm here for, no apology necessary. This cortado is excellent. The high quality pulled shots of expresso shine through the nicely steamed whole milk. I have to know which blends they used in my drinks. El Zorro for the cortado and Foxy Gal for the drip. I compliment the other barista on the shop's coffee. She humbly tells me, "the shots are pulling well today". Typically, when I get my usual cortado and drip coffee, one is better than the other, even if slightly so. Not today. Today both are of equally high caliber. It is a good coffee day.
