The new space has retrofitted garage doors that let the light into the roomy cafe in the heart of downtown Windsor. New smiling faces offer great hospitality and a stunning new menu to match with sandwiches, salads, dips, and a pastry case full of fresh sweet treats. They have endless syrup flavors and specialty lattes, including Harry Potter themed drinks. It doesn't stop at coffee though! They also have a variety of refreshers, smoothies, and dirty sodas. Was really excited about the new opening of WLC. Though, for the cost of the breakfast, it did not exceed my expectations. Tried the scone breakfast sandwhich, the scone is cold but the egg is hot and honestly outrageously massive. Additionally, went to get a coffee cake but it was incredibly dry and when asked for it to be warmed up, it was slightly warmer but still not worth the price regardless. I absolutely love this little spot. I go there a few times a week, because it's right in the middle of one of my favorite cycling routes. Sometimes I'll ride down here from my place, before I even start my ride. I love the staff, the variety, and the overall atmosphere. It's my " go to " spot in downtown Windsor. The ice cream at Windsor Lake Coffee is probably the best I've ever had. I went with something a little unusual . . . . just because . . . . and was blown away be the result. I went with a salted oreo malt and man was it good. I learned that this is one of the few places in the area that serves Little Man ice cream. What a treat. They also serve food and coffee (obviously) but I can't really comment on that as I just had the ice cream. The atmosphere was eclectic and I definitely saw some furniture that I wish was mine. To repeat what many other reviewers have said - Customer service needs a lot of work. Extremely rude employees. Took close to 15 minutes to get an ice chai because it had to go in the "espresso machine line". I've never seen any other coffee place use an espresso machine for an ice chai so that reasoning is ridiculous. Drink was sub par in taste. My friend got a dirty soda that cost almost $7 and it wasn't even large. I'm all for supporting small business, and can even deal with the little longer wait, but will be going down the street to Dutch Bros from now on. I may be waiting there, but the customer service is a lot better. read more

I really liked this place until I provided some feedback on google, and then the owner responded on my review with things that weren't true, basically telling me I was wrong in a pretty snarky way. S/he said I should submit my resume if I felt I could do a better job. All I was trying to say is that their food line could run faster so that people waiting on one scoop of ice cream aren't also waiting for another order from other customers that included multiple sandwiches. I understand the "made to order" but I've worked in restaurants before and there's also an efficiency play where someone tackles the east orders to get those out while someone else starts on the longer orders. It's a very cute place but the owner should stop taking things so personally, especially when lots of customers talk about the young rude staff and slow service. It's not just me! read more

Coffee is great. They have a good menu. I love it's not a chain. They also have Little Man Ice Cream!

I would give this place ZERO STARS if I could. They close at 8 pm, so we biked quite a distance (several miles) to their shop, arriving at 7:55pm to get some ice cream which is average at best, but it's the only game in town....to be told that they were closed and that they stopped serving at 7:55. Beyond bad service and not only will my family never go their again, I'll make sure to let everyone else I know in this small town to avoid it as well. read more

I'm leaving 4 stars because I haven't tried some of their other menu items yet. I like this place though. Small town with hardly anything there so this is easily the best coffee shop. Its wide open and plenty of seats. The people that work there are nice too. Their scones and sandwiches are good.. Will be coming everytime I'm in town. read more

I've been dragging my feet at posting a review for this business, because I've had totally bipolar experiences here - two good, two not so much. Based on my not so great experiences, I reached out to Windsor Lake Coffee directly to discuss and received no response - and now it's been about a month, so I figured I'd go ahead and post in warning. My first negative experience could have been disasterous for the ladies I was with as they have Celiac disease. We came to the shop to get a coffee and some ice cream, as I had been here prior and was telling them how charming it is. When we approached the counter and asked which ice cream was gluten free, the employee responded with they all have gluten - upon later questioning, we realized he confused gluten with dairy - which had they ordered sandwiches could've been a severe situation. The employee also seemed to be annoyed when we tried to explain what gluten is. I went back a few weeks later with my husband and child and we ordered drinks (there is a barista there that makes an amazing bullet proof coffee by the way!) and I saw some cute stained glass in the window. The price tag said $12 and I thought, that's awesome - this is coming home with me. The same young man was behind the counter as I had during our gluten/lactose conversation - and I asked him for assistance getting the piece of stained glass down to purchase it. Upon ringing me up he said "The computer says it's $15, is that fine?" Well, no. That's false advertisement. I kindly explained to him that all the pieces in the window were marked the same and I expected to pay the advertised price. He begrudgingly rung me up, told me he was going to make a note in the system so he "didn't get in trouble" and left my item on the counter and turned away from me - end of transaction I suppose. What I'm hoping from this post is that the owner/manager of this business will: 1) Talk to their employees and inform them about different food allergies and ingredients in their own products. Then those employees can make informed recommendations without jeopardizing the health of their customers. 2) Talk to their employees about customer service standards. If a price is marked a certain way, it's normal to honor that price and not begrudge the customer in doing so. As customers, we have so many choices of where to put our money. My family loves to support local when we feel seen and heard, and that's the bottom line. read more

If that soda fountain was located in Windsor, CO, Leave It To Beaver would be on TV every Wednesday night in HD, and Wally would be a millionaire ... instead of just being known as The Beaver's brother. Formerly "Robin's Nest", Claire Brogden opened the doors to Windsor Lake Coffee in Dec 2018. Located on the NE corner of 5th and Main Street, it offers plenty of nearby parking and some incredible menu items. Too many words, folks. This place is just cool. More upscale toward the front, and very "soda fountain" in the back (complete with circa 1950's decor) - it offers something for everyone. The little ones walk in and run straight to the soda fountain, while the adults settle in and enjoy some WiFi with their atmosphere We had sandwiches (chicken salad and havarti with ham). Both we amazing and included generous side offerings (salad, soup, roasted beet salad or quinoa salad). I stopped eating beets when I was old enough to recognize that they tasted like dirt - and I don't love quinoa - mostly because it's still socially awkward for dudes to say "quinoa" in public. I've grown to like both of these over the years, though, and the beets and quinoa here made me love them both!! Seriously. Scones baked fresh daily, lots of dessert options, and Claire's mom bakes and delivers the pies. (She'll bake you a whole one with a couple days notice.) The number of lemonade options were lengthy, so I asked Claire to just surprise me. She whipped up a blueberry peach version that I'll replace the sheep with as I count my way to sleep tonight. They also happen to be one of the two places in Colorado that serve Little Man Ice Cream. Little Man is a BIG TASTE that's based down in Denver - near the aquarium - and it's great to have this quiet little place to come enjoy great ice cream! I really wanted to like this place. I have been wanting to stop by for a while now and finally convinced my husband to check it out. I enticed him based on the Waffle breakfast sandwich. So we went this morning, finally! Well, womp, womp. We ordered, everything seemed fine. Then about 5 min after I was told they were out of waffles for the waffle sandwich and would I want it on a bagel or sourdough, I said sourdough. This started the downfall. Our order was done so we got it and took it home. Well instead of just swapping the waffles with sourdough and keeping the sandwich the same, they completely switched the sandwich to their breakfast sandwich with tomatoes on it and not the bacon like the waffle sandwich has. Gross! The bread wasn't even toasted. I got the vegetarian burrito which was lackluster. It did not have the green chili and it wasn't grilled as advertised. There were two pieces of sliced cheese melted on the top. Overall not good. Needless to say we were very disappointed and won't be going back. read more

Stopped here a few weeks back when checking out downtown. The staff was friendly and made a couple of recommendations. Some of tables needed a wipe down even though marked clean. We ordered a few drinks (cookies and cream smoothie, peanut butter frappe, and a salted caramel frappe) which were good but nothing out of the ordinary. The baked goods were alright, daughter has a strawberry cake pop which was moist and a good size. They have a sizable menu so we'll try something different next time. They have retail items which is an array of local artist items (art, jewelry, and similar). read more

Good product but we literally showed up at 6:35. Online says 7 pm closing. The OPEN SIGN is flashing outside. The employees saw us and completely ignored us. Expensive, slow service, and poor quality are the first things that come to mind when I think about Windsor Lake Coffee House. Paid over $15 for a coffee and 3 cupcakes, it took over 20 mins to get my order completed. Coffee was on par with McDonalds or Burger King, the cupcakes were small and stale looked like like they were made from a box. Looks cute and charming but a waste of time and money. read more

I'll start with what I love about this coffee shop. First I love the tables, they are so unique. I also enjoyed their macadamia nut latte. I wish they had a few more pie and sweet dessert offerings. I had their blueberry pie, it had a few too many blueberries. My friend had the apple pie which I enjoyed more than my own. We did have them heat our pie but could have been a little warmer. A little pricey but still good. I would visit again if for nothing else but the latte. read more

This place is the worse than McDonald's in customer service and kindness. Customers are what keep a business in operation or not. I love the ice cream but at this point with multiple times with bad customer service my family is done coming here. We would rather drive to Denver for Little Man Ice Cream than to experience this place again. Highly overpriced for nothing with no customer service to back that up. Always asking for a tip that they don't deserve. A tip is something you give when customer service has been fantastic and this place has never done that. I've been going here for almost two years and it's never changed for the better. If anything it's only gotten worse and worse. The owner or manager really needs to teach and hold these teenagers accountable for good customer service and stop asking for a tip they don't deserve at all. But that's probably what they are used to getting a reward for nothing. A reward is something giving when you do a good job. At this rate this place will hopefully be replaced by a better ran shop in a few years or hopefully sooner. Don't waste your time or money on this joke of a shop. The workers are all snotty, rude, arrogant, stuck up teenagers that have no idea about life or in any regard customer service. They are easily overwhelmed by a small rush of people and get even more rude during those times. read more

I went to Windsor Lake Coffee twice in two days because I needed to do some work. Both times I ordered tea and they refilled my kettle with hot water when I asked. The environment was perfect for working. It had some background noise, but wasn't too noisy. The ambiance was quaint and cute. read more

Service was horrible, they took over 20 minutes to make a sandwich. The one girl looked completely disheveled. It was not busy, they wouldn't even take our order until they finished the order ahead of us which at the rate they work must have been 15 minutes before we arrived. I told them I had a severe allergy and they didn't really know how to respond and someone from the back eventually came back out with a clean cutting board and knife. Our sandwiches came out 5 minutes apart so my husband had eaten half of his already. At this point the guy behind us says to the girl I'm missing a sandwich and the sever was like oh yea. We had planned to get ice cream after lunch but we decided not to after the service we got during lunch. Having a coffee shop so close to the Lake was very nice although I must warn anybody about going to this establishment. After a few wonderful experiences I received a burrito with an icy cold center. The employees at the time were very helpful and made it right by reheating the burrito and giving me a free coffee. Not 2 weeks later the same thing happened and not only did the employee working that day not offer to fix it immediately but she said that she had never had another customer complain about a cold burrito before as if I was lying to her. Then I was accused of making lewd and lascivious comments to the employees. I have frequented Windsors establisments since I was born in 83 and I have never been so insulted in my whole life or treated like less of a person or a customer. Not only will I never return but I will also do everything in my power to ensure that everybody I know from Windsor, and believe me that number is in the thousands never frequent this establishment... Small town coffee shop? Perhaps but don't be fooled by its charming exterior. And if you want proper customer service avoid this place like the plague. read more

We love this place!!! Ice cream is so delicious, and while they keep some flavors stocked consistently, they always add in new ones that are just as delicious! Wonderful coffee too. Staff is friendly, atmosphere is cute and quaint. Always great for a fun treat!
