We ordered a custom copper-top dining table with black metal legs from Woodward Throwbacks in early…read moreJuly. The design process started off smoothly -- the team was friendly and helpful in finalizing the design. However, once we agreed on the table and paid in full upfront (something we were uncomfortable with but were assured was fine), everything went downhill. The original completion date was supposed to be mid-August, but there was almost no communication from the store about progress. I had to repeatedly reach out for updates, only to eventually learn that the company making the table base (outside of Michigan) had "stopped responding to their emails" for nearly a month. That delay pushed our project back significantly, with no clear timeline ever provided. When we were finally invited to see the finished table, the quality was disappointing. The metal legs had visible scratches, and the copper top had several imperfections -- bubbles in the surface (caused by uneven glue adhesive) and areas that looked like staples under the metal. When I pointed these out, the owner responded rudely, even asking, "Have you ever ordered custom furniture before? This isn't Wayfair." That comment was unnecessary and unprofessional, especially after spending over $3,000 and waiting months for the piece. She explained that fixing the flaws would require redoing the entire top and said "this is just how custom pieces are." She also claimed the showroom table looked the same, but when we compared them, it clearly did not. The owner eventually agreed to make "adjustments," though she was dismissive about timelines and updates. She later offered to refund us and keep the table, implying I was "too upset" to be satisfied -- which felt unfair, considering our frustrations were justified. After further discussion, she agreed to fix the issues and deliver the table the following Monday. When it arrived, the "repairs" were unacceptable. The legs had simply been spray-painted over, one of the staple marks was sanded down leaving a burn ring, and new bubbles appeared on the copper top. Again, I had to reach out for follow-up. The owner reiterated her offer to take the table back and refund us, but by that point, starting over with another company would have meant waiting months more. When I asked for compensation due to the poor craftsmanship, she rudely offered only $200, though they did waive the $175 delivery fee since we lived outside of Detroit. Overall, the experience was incredibly frustrating. The customer service felt polite until we paid -- after that, it became dismissive and condescending. The quality of the final product does not reflect the price or the promises made. Bottom line: Woodward Throwbacks may have appealing designs, but if you're looking for reliable communication, professional customer service, or high-quality custom work, I cannot recommend them.

In turn, if they don't have it and think another place might, they'll tell you....which you just don't get in this "the info/honey hole is mine" that architectural salvage has become.

Absolutely terrible - waiting 2.5 months for order. Initially, store routed order to Mississauga…read moreinstead of Windsor (1st error). I contacted them online and they re-routed so I got part of it 3 weeks past promised date. I went to pick up my order and was given 2 boxes - one was not mine (2nd error). Once I discovered the error, I went online to get the situation corrected. Weeks of being told "the store has been notified" and "I'll message the store that you are waiting to be contacted," I got an advance notification for delivery (didn't know it, but this was the 3rd error). Ok, they didn't tell me they corrected it, but at least they corrected it. When the delivery crew arrived, they didn't have my order and thought they were there to assemble something. (4th error) Weeks more of online help and being given the same message, and it has all amounted to a pointless wait (5th error). I was just told that I needed to contact the store.

Absolutely DO NOT recommend Ashley Homestore. I do, however, recommend that you stay as far away…read morefrom this business as you possibly can. They lock you into a contract. You sign because you think you are getting new, good quality furniture. If you cancel for any reason at all, they will charge you 10 - 25% administration/restocking fee. Absolutely NO REFUNDS, unless you have it in you to fight for months or years on end. When you finally get delivery of the furniture, it's broken or used, and broken. Ashley Furniture will tell you that they will REPAIR this NEW (?) furniture. If you cancel the order because of this, you are still subject to cancelation fees. However, they will give you a store credit in lieu of a refund, and then you can start the game all over again. If you're lucky enough to get furniture that looks good initially, do not relax. Days, or weeks later, this furniture will be broken. The warranty you purchased is useless as they will deem everything as normal wear and tear. Ashley Furniture uses fraudulent business practices and they run a Bait and Switch Scam. Customer Service is absolutely horrific, and once you give them your money, they will fight to keep it. READ ALL REVIEWS FOR ASHLEY HOMESTORE!!! If you do decide to buy from Ashley Homestore, READ THEIR CONTRACT!!! Do not think that it won't apply to you, because it WILL. The Sales people are great at selling. They 'seem' to try and be helpful, but then stop answering your calls/texts. The Quality and manufacturing of the furniture is so poor that every piece is damaged or broken in some way. Customer Care is horrific. They will continually harass you so they can deliver the same broken furniture over and over again. Do you get value for your money? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! You're better off picking up furniture from the side of the road.
