We had our daughter's wedding at the Holiday Inn East Windsor, NJ, and it was nothing short of amazing! This is the fourth major reception that we have hosted and by far the banquet staff was the best we have encountered. Honest, east to work with, and transparent are three phrases that describe them. They took the stress out of the wedding so we were able to enjoy the day! Location--just off of Exit 8 of the NJ Turnpike. Rooms--very clean and modern. I had my reception at the Windsor Ballroom and I can tell you that it was only the third place we looked at and we booked that same day. Do not be put off by the outside area which looks very run of the mill Holiday Inn. The ballroom is very nice, the cocktail hour is held at a very spacious area and more importantly for us....they dancefloor is ginormous! Unless you come here for a wedding, I don't think you get the scope of how beautiful the ballroom can turn out. Tara and her team did so much to help us with price, decor and lighting which made the place really come alive. Cocktail Hour: We did a Jersey Shore table during cocktail hour which everyone raved (especially the kids). The servers were excellent, kept coming by with trays of food and very attentive to guests needs. MOST IMPORTANTLY the maitre'd was PHENOMENAL!! He greeted me as soon as I stepped foot on the premises and literally ran around helping me fix a dress issue I had, got me a cocktail to relax and had another server bring me food so I wouldn't pass out. Food: The food is was all so delicious! We picked the baked chicken and the crab stuffed fish and people all loved it. We added dessert trays at the end were filled with these ginormous chocolate covered strawberries and endless crispy pastries, at first I thought I wouldn't need it, but our cake turned out to not be that good, so it really helped. Decor: They can include everything from centerpieces, table numbers, tea lights an envelope cage AND YOUR WEDDING CAKE as part of your package.As a bride that wanted to spend a month-long honeymoon in Europe INSTEAD of centerpieces, this was a huge selling point. Service: I can not say enough about the amazing service I received from the Windsor Ballroom. I have a very demanding job and kept forgetting about due dates for deposits, guests counts and basically everything important....and they were all so patient with me, accommodating to my schedule and really always taking that extra step to make sure I felt at ease. I have never experienced such exceptional customer service from a place. Granted, I have never been married before, but I have heard horror stories, and to be quite honest, I assumed because this is not a super expensive place I was going to get just mediocre service. Hotel accommodations: My husband family was coming from Philadelphia and mine was coming from North Jersey so this was literally the best midpoint. On top of that, it was phenomenal knowing that everyone could enjoy the open bar and safely just walk to their room. We were given a Luxury suite for free for our wedding night and had a discounted price for our guests to stay. As we walked in they had a bottle of champagne, 2 slices of wedding cake, chocolate covered strawberries and a cookie shaped like a wedding cake that said congratulations Mr & Mrs Arellano. It really was such a sweet and personalized touch. Breakfast: The couple enjoys brunch for free the next day ($15 pp), this was a nice touch, we had another mini reception in the morning with everyone walking in tending to their hangover together. The food was excellent and it is also held in the Irish Pub right on the premises, so no need to check out early. Came here as a wedding guest. Not the greatest venue or hotel. The check-in and out process was very slow and TWICE in about four hours our hotel keys were deactivated which is even more annoying when only one elevator is working and it takes almost 10 minutes to go up and down a few flights. The venue is extremely cold. I froze my way through the cocktail hour and dinner, also the sound system kept going in an out. But this is Yelp so lets talk about the food. Possibly the weirdest assortment of food I've ever seen anywhere let alone a wedding. I'm not sure what a wok station, a mashed potato bar, "jersey shore", and dried out pork have to do with each other but I'll tell you what. None of the ingratiates were real. One bit into a "chicken" piece from the wok station and I spit it out. Fake chicken. I'm also pretty sure the mashed potatoes were out of the box. Just really bad food all across the board. Never have I ever had an onion ring at a wedding but it was the best thing I tasted all night, expect for of course the booze. After finishing my ridiculous stretch of weekends that I had weddings to attend, it finally came to a close with my nephews wedding at the Windsor Ballroom in East Windsor. The Windsor Ballroom is actually at the Holiday Inn in East Windsor, NJ and featured a beautiful room, garden, and wonderful catering. I really want to emphasize how awesome the catering was....it was just.....everything was delicious! I couldn't believe it. By far the best food I've had at a reception all year. My husband and I got married here on August 19th and let me tell you that not only did we have an amazing time, but so did our guests! Ty was AMAZING! He made sure everything kept moving, decorated our sweetheart table using decorations from our ceremony and made sure everything was taken care of while we were there. Erma was also AMAZING! She catered to me and my husband the moment I came down from my room. She took care of any and everything we needed. I don't know what we would have done without her. But the staff overall did great as well. I received compliments all day about how great they were and how accommodating they were for someone who had a food allergy. People I don't know what some of these people write but the place is horrible. The cocktail hour was cheap. The food had no taste. I was told no champagne. I had to wait for someone to move their ass to bring more. Staff yelled at people that cocktail hour was over and they had to move to the dinner section. THe seating arrangements were written on a board that most people didn't know where it was. Dinner was horrible. There was no bread on the tables. They brought bread after appetizer. No water on the table. You had to go to the bar to get it yourself. Dinner came and nobody at the table ate it after that first bite. Major D was horrible. Coffee was brought to the table with no milk. Bartender was rude. Bathrooms had toilet paper on the floor with blood on it. So to sum it up find a better place for your special day. The staff at the Windsor Ballroom was AMAZING! I married there on September 6, 2015 and Samantha N, Samantha S, Tara and Lindsay were all great to work with! When I was planning our wedding, I was looking for a venue one weekend night, Tara was the only person of all the venues to answer the phone! She let me ask all the questions I needed to and never did I feel like I was calling at a bad time. Lindsay was also easy to work with for the contract. She and Tara worked with our budget. Then both Sam N and Samantha S have been attentive, upbeat, and fun to work with. The day of the wedding, Samantha N was my saving grace. She made sure everything was perfect, ran the event like it was her own wedding, and made sure we had everything we needed. Irma, one of the wait staff, was EXCELLENT! She took care of my girls and I in our private room during cocktail hour while I was being bustled, and was also one of the servers in the hall. Everyone loved her. I cannot express in words how incredible this facility is. From the attentive staff to the delicious food you just cannot go wrong using The Windsor Ballroom for your next event. Tara is the manager and dealing with her was nothing short of stellar. She was understanding of our needs and made sure every detail was attended to. She treated us like family, making every accommodation we needed from setting up before we arrived until the last guest was walking out the door, go smoothly. Also Chris was our maître d' and what a fantastic level of service he provided as well. During the cocktail hour they even made sure I was eating, bringing me plates so that I could greet our guests hassle free. Even going so far during dinner as to cover my plate so my food wouldn't get cold. That is some amazing service. The food by the way was delicious. My guests were overwhelmed with so many incredible choices during the cocktail hour. They raved about the mashed potato bar and sushi. The dinner was also not your typical run of the mill event food. The dishes were well prepared, hot, and yummy. All told my event was one of the best family events I have ever attended and it was mostly due to the level of incredible service that this facility provides. My wedding was last night and I can't stop singing their praises. Ty was absolutely amazing. He made sure my husband and I were attended to the whole night. There was a slight issue with seating arrangements but the staff responded immediately and had everything taken care of. My guests could not stop talking about the food, especially the gorgeous sushi station and the s'mores station. The ballroom was gorgeous. I saw positive reviews about the Windsor Ballroom, but after how my wedding went and how many things they did wrong (even though all was listed correctly on our contract), I would NEVER recommend them to anyone for a wedding or event again. And their customer service was terrible. The events director Tara and her little minion Lindsey have no idea what customer service is or what it means to be detailed. On April 5, 2014, we celebrated my daughter's quinceañera and we had an AMAZING time at the Windsor Ballroom. From our first meeting with Tara we felt right at home. The entire staff, Tara, Samantha and Christine are very knowledgeable were ALWAYS ready to assist us with great ideas and in answering all of our questions. On the day of the event we were blown away with how beautiful everything looked. The decorations and atmosphere were absolutely breathtaking and Chris really took care of everything during the party. His expertise just made everyone feel at ease and everyone is still commenting on how much fun they had . Oh and the food was delicious!!!! We just had our wedding at The Windsor Ballroom on 3/15/14 and it was gorgeous, magnificent, perfect, wonderful, exciting and the list goes on and on. The room was breath-taking. I couldn't believe how quickly they set up our room after the wedding before ours. I blinked and it was done. The girls in the office (Tara, Sam, Cristine) are all very helpful and a joy to work with. They are very responsive and gave me GREAT ideas for many details to our wedding. Closer to our big day, Tara was able to calm me down with her experience as a therapist (I'm sure it was newly acquired for me). They were able to work with in our budget and we couldn't be happier. Chris - our maitre d - was absolutely wonderful. He helped every step of the way, from making sure my new husband and I were comfortable, well fed (and beveraged!) and if we needed anything he had it quickly to us. He even got my toss bouquet out of the chandelier (yes, I was the bride that threw my toss bouquet into the chandelier - it's all my dj's fault (but I won't tell him that!)) and brought it to my maid of honor at JT's bar well after the reception ended before he headed home for the evening (close to 1:30am!!). The food from cocktail hour and the reception itself, was delicious. A bit of forewarning: the abundance of food will make you wish you had a bigger stomach!!! I wish we had the ability to try out some of the stations during cocktail hour but being the bride & groom does have some disadvantages - constantly being pulled in a million directions. Everyone is raving about the food and how much you get. Some were asking to box their meals up to take them home (which isn't an option for guests!). I wish I could do it all over again so I can relive it. The Windsor Ballroom will definitely be my referral point whenever someone I know gets engaged! We decided to have a wedding on last minute notice and were married on Nov. 9th, 2015. We had 4 weeks based on the date we originally intended to get married at the courthouse. Tara, Randi, Sam and the folks at the Windsor Ball Room made it all possible. This was the most plesant experience! I've been married before, I know how unplesant wedding planning can be which is why I didn't want another wedding to begin with. They are helpful, responsive, kind, accomodating, and make your special day seemless! They do everything there for you. I basically had to simply tell them what I wanted and show up ready to go. They took care of everything! The food was incredible. I can't tell you how many $50-$100K weddings we've attended and the food still sucks. We had numerous out of town guests and much of my family had not met his family. Tara and Randi helped plan (last minute by the way) a room at JT's with food and cash bar for the people who came in the night before. This was THE BEST thing we could have done. Yes, it is another expense, but every single person loved it and were so appreciative after traveling all day. We kept the tables set up like they have them for breakfast. They were willing to make a more formal arrangement, but that is not what I wanted. I wanted people to be up and moving around and talking to anyone around them. It also gave people a chance to interact so the next day (the wedding) was a time to enjoy rather than a time to make introductions. We had an wedding and reception (11am-4pm). The wedding ceremony (interfaith Jewish/Catholic) was so incredibly perfect. The room was perfect. The decorations were perfect. Both sides of our families commented on how nice it was! After the reception ended at 4pm, we didn't want to be done. We had people staying over again since we all had been drinking. I again asked Sam & Tara if there was somewhere we could go so we could order some pizza later in the night and continue to interact with our guests. They again gave us a spot and we were able to enjoy ourselves until about 10pm that night. Words cannot express my gratitude for thier professionalism, how wonderful they made our day, the memories I will have, and their genuine kindness. My fiance and I visited a total of 5 venues before we initially decided on the Holiday Inn. I must say that I do feel they offer good prices, and decent packaging however their contract details are extremely poor! Our wedding date with them was originally set for 3/28/15. Plans needed to change and we booked another venue best suited for us. The problem is we signed a contract with $1000 deposit. As a newly engaged couple we wish we would have thoroughly read and understood our contract before signing anything! We trusted them but they just trusted our money! Their contract for "ALL" deposits is NON-REFUNDABLE! Plus they have something called "liquidated damages." What that means is no matter how far your wedding date is, whether you go through with the wedding at all, and no matter if they rendered any service they have will not only keep your deposit, but they will try to charge you "liquidated damages." I.E. you still need to pay us! There was no medium of at least we will try to "re-contract" your date and give you partial deposit back. They wouldn't even let us use this deposit towards a future event! They said we would have owed them approximately $5000 for "liquidated damages" but as a courtesy the owner will waive it and keep our deposit. What damages when absolutely no services were rendered! They took our money and did nothing for it again not even letting us use it as a future credit. Brides understand not every venue has this type of strict contract but sadly we learned the hard way. I can confirm that at the very least if they would have let us use this towards a future event I would not have put their policies on this site, but because they chose to do this I feel I should WARN future brides. They took $1000 from us on a wedding over a 1yr out and gave us nothing! Unless your wedding date is close this may not be the place for you. This type of business practice is unacceptable and hurtful especially in such a competitive market as banquet halls. We understand our error but the way they handled this shows their lack of character. I will not refer anyone to book here for this reason. read more

Tara and her staff do not care about you, they care about the money. My wedding was on July 19, 2015 and the staff was horrible. Tara and her girls promised us the entire day and ended up double booking. When they were confronted about this they gave the birthday party all of these incentives while we got nothing. We had to move our ceremony and cocktail hour to an earlier time after invitations were sent and programs printed. The made appointments and did not show up. They were incompetent with payments. They did not serve all of the courses and we paid extra for a wine service that barely happened. There is no bridal suite for the bridal party or bride and groom to leave items and we were told to shove it under our tables. To try to right their wrong they comped a hotel room for me the day before the wedding by my ceremony venue, but when I arrived at the hotel they charged me. They took advantage of my kindness and I will never recommend any party at this venue, no matter the discounts or promises. If you are stuck in a contract with these people get EVERYTHING in writing, their promises mean nothing! read more

I was part of a bridal party that recently held a reception at the Winsor Ballroom. The staff at the Windsor Ballroom gave us a private room during the cocktail hour to eat, rest and keep our belongings. The manager and one server were the only people, other than the bridal party, in the room. One of the groomsman left his card for the bride and groom on the table where he was sitting while he walked a few feet away (mind you in the same room) to get more food. When he returned, the card was gone! The manager tried to dismiss it claiming that the server MAY HAVE accidently threw it away but the groom's family insisted that they wanted it returned. The manager returned the OPENED card HOURS LATER. I guess they went dumpster diving to retrieve it! The manager said that he would talk with the server for not reporting that she "found a card". This is the only business I know of that doesn't fire employees for stealing. If you have an event at this venue, hold on to your belongings - a thief still works there!!! read more
