Kimberly c.'s profile image Kimberly c…read more on Birdeye Do better, Amedisys Home Health, Port Charlotte. Honestly, they are undeserving of even one star. My husband got out of the hospital, and Chrisine told me to call them to resume care. When I did, they declined - no notice, no phone call, nothing. He went into the hospital with 3 infections, including MRSA, so not so sure how successful their "wound care" was anyway. My 54 YO husband suffers from Huntington's Chorea - it affects his movements and mind. It shares some similarities with ALS, dementia, and Parkinson's. They said there was a personality conflict between their staff and him when they canceled him But he rarely but once even spoke. They should of just said they were discriminating, and providing care to a Huntington's patient was too difficult for them. How does a medical condition that affects a person's mind and movements translate to a personality issue from a person that only spoke once? Although I begged each time for their nurses to take 60 seconds to google the symptoms, they refused to educate themselves. How can someone in the Medical arena not educate themselves on how a disease may present,to give him adequate care? My husband isn't aggressive- or argumentative. After 7 pokes of a needle, nurse "Jim" couldn't find a vein. My husband only stated that he wasn't sure he knew what he was doing. I wasn't sure he knew either- never could find a vein and gave up. I would of given the nurse 2x before asking if he had a clue. My husband gave this guy more grace than I would In summary: !) Unskilled- He was receiving wound care from them, but got 3 infections that landed him in the hospital. The vital labs couldn't be taken because they couldn't draw blood. These are only 2 examples of many. 2)They have no interest in understanding the patient's symptoms to provide care, even when I request this many times. 3) Communication- scheduling They don't call the day beforehand to schedule. They wait till same day. They don't call to tell you they canceled you. They left him without wound care for over a week- no phone call. I had to call them and here he sits with his infections without the company's help that last did his wound care. 4) They could care less about patient care- left him with zero wound care after discharge- and unbelievably, after their wound care or lack of it, landed him in the hospital in the first place. He was never aggressive or argumentative. Additionally, I was always there to assist- even when Jim had me do his job- hold the measuring tape to his wounds. I pray for any patients using this company who have a disease like dementia, that affects the mind. Since they refused to educate themselves, Ill do the work for them- just like when I was told to hold the measuring tape to the wounds- , I'm putting the material here- for the next unlucky patient that may have Huntington's disease or in fact any disease, that affects the mind or movements

However after the first 2 weeks, they would not show up, they would call and give excuses, such as they were waiting for my insurance approval. However my insurance approved visits up front. Then the visits got shorter and shorter, no new exercises to do. Didn't show up one day and then called the next to ask if they cold come over now. Luckily I'm a determine person and I am doing well but no thanks to them. Plus the number they give you for 24/7 on call nurse, no one answers you leave a message and no one calls you back.

The facility was wonderful but he missed the Jewish culture he was used to -having lived in the Bronx, Westchester County NY and Boynton Beach. Jewish Pavilion brought that part of his life back to him with Yiddish classes, personal visits, Shabbat, holiday celebrations and also pet therapy. JP was also a great help to me - I felt like I had extended family helping me through his last years. This is a vital service for seniors and their families in Central Florida.

Unfortunately, who you invite into your home can be disastrous. In all honesty, our first experience with Vitas for my Father-in-Law (not necessarily this office--Vitas has many facilities around Central Florida) was not that great because WE were inexperienced, and the first health care attendant they provided was brand new. Also, it was all over in 48 hours--it takes time to figure out what services are available, and how to get services and equipment when you need them. Still, the net impact of our first experience was positive so when my Mother-in-Law began declining quickly we again called Vitas. This time we had the benefit of our previous experience, and Grandma was in hospice almost two weeks. Most importantly, we had Sunshine. Sunshine (her real name) arrived, and let me say that she is the embodiment of her name in every sense. She's an experienced RN and a bundle of energy, all smiles, hugs and good advice. We were spellbound! Shortly, we began meeting our care providers, and we also began asking for several of them by name. Yaira arrived early on the scene and helped bathe and dress Grandma. We met Candy B. who is wonderful (very sweet and patient). At our request, she worked several extra shifts for us. Cindy is wonderful as well, and she advised us that Suzette, who was the brightest part of this company our first time around was still working for the company on weekends while she completes the last semester of her studies, when she too will earn her RN diploma. We asked for her, and she was here for us again as well. Candy and Suzette each worked at least three 12-hour shifts. It's important to note that Dr Pham, the physician who attended, came to our home at least three times. Twice she was here well in excess of a half hour. With a wonderful bedside manner, she spent as much time with us as with Grandma. The young men who delivered the bed, oxygen concentrator and supplies were also very considerate. They also returned immediately after my Mother-in-Law passed to remove that equipment, which is more important than it sounds as I write this. The days following a death are difficult and moving from hospice to planning a funeral in another state is a nightmare. Both of our loved ones passed in our home with all of their family at their side. That was our goal. This is an event each of us must face, but knowing that we were there for them every step of the way provided peace and comfort to all of us--not just our departed parents. Thank you Vitas for making this possible.

I was very concerned that he would not Want me after receiving a bottle. Dr. Beckman was cheerful, humble, knowledgeable and very positive that 1) baby was born knowing how to latch on to me...we just needed to remind him. And 2) baby should have no problem switching back-and-forth between nipple and bottle it was just a matter of strengthening the muscles that were weak. That was such a relief for a first time mommy. She went though a series of simple tests and gave us exercises to practice. Three days later he had his first decent latch. And ever since then it's been getting better and more consistent with longer stretches of time. We are not even two weeks since our visit with Dr. Beckman and today we've done more breast-feeding than pumping! Dr. Beckman and associates are professional, friendly, and prompt. Her process is backed by science and research, and carried out with kindness and compassion. I would highly recommend this office. Baby and I are forever grateful.

We first met Pat and Michael on their wedding anniversary and they canceled their plans to take my mom in their lovely home the same day. They provided snacks and healthy home cooked meals, activities to help keep my mom and other residents engaged, and top notch care around the clock. Pat & Michael rented a van over Christmas and took my mom out to see the pretty lights. They celebrated her birthday with flowers, presents and decorated their house. During a hurricane warning, they invited my dad to come stay with them. My family and I were always welcome to visit and stay however long we wanted. They regularly sent us pictures and texts to let us know how my mom was doing, which was really sweet. Being in a private, loving home is so much more welcoming than a sterile facility. Towards the end of my moms life, Pat was feeding my mom every meal and trying to keep her as comfortable as possible. They treated my mom and family with kindness and respect, and we are forever grateful. I can't say enough great things about Pat's Serenity Home Care. I highly recommend the family as they take excellent care of your loved ones!
