I can not say enough good things about this facility. My brother has been there for over 6 months…read moreand I am very happy with the care they provide to him. Encore went out of their way during Christmas to make the residents feel loved and to experience the holidays. The quality of the food is excellent and tailored to the individual. My brother's room is always neat, tidy and clean smelling. He is handicapped, so the staff has done a great job being receptive to his needs. There are a ton of activities. My brother has a full calendar of events to do on a daily basis. Encore has outings and they have a lot of events at the facility so there is a lot of interaction with the public. The location is excellent. It is a block - walking distance to the Publix or the CVS if I need any supplies. I also can walk to about 10 restaurants from Encore, so it is is easy to take my brother out for dinner without even having it get in the car. I highly recommend this facility and could not have found a better place.

I would like to begin with no matter when it is time to place your loved one in an assisted living…read morefacility (ALF) and need memory care assistance, this is a very difficult time. Now, I would like to tell my story of choosing Encore @ Avalon Park memory care assisted living. My grandmother had been living alone for many years after the death of my grandfather. Time and realization slowly crept in that she could no longer do Day to day living expectations, such as using her appliances, driving, paying bills, remembering to shower. My mother moved in with her part time and thing were good for awhile then her Dementia slowly got worse and sundowns was kicking into all time highs. It was time to make another change and adapt with our new grandma/mom. She came to live with me for just about 2months. In these weeks it became apparent that us family just wasn't equipped or educated enough to be able to give the best care my grandma. This was very difficult to accept but as looking and making appointments for ALF w/memory care doing walk throughs discussing financial cost, it became clear that Encore was offering the best of the best. I ended up having to make the decision on my own, as other family members couldn't cope or realize grandma's mind wasn't what it use to be. Despite being the same person, she also was a new person with a different reality that is hard to understand. Dementia is a horrible disease that takes from your loved one and you. Now, after many visits to ALF, I walked into Encore with my mind made up that it was too expensive, too corporate and really just not sure why I was giving them my time. I am so thankful I gave them a shot! I walked in started my tour, being polite but when the various staff could tell I was already done with the "look at how great Encore was" Starse (pardon misspelling) she looked at me and asked "what are your expectations and tell me your concerns". I was completely honest and had voiced everything. She didn't just listen to me, she told me the truth on transitioning on scheduling and then showed me around, introduced me to other staff members and nurses. Our tour was cut short, due to needing to get back home to my grandmother. Starse, told me to call anytime, come back with or without appointment, bring my grandma to hang out for the day get a feel for the place because she understood the decision making and TRUST I was instilling. A few weeks went by, prayed and came to deciding to go with Encore. My grandmother has been at Encore, her home, since October 2017. She is thriving there! Yes, she still has difficult days as expected with dementia but her quality of life expanded! Encore offers all sorts of "perks" for lack of better term, they have fantastic physicians that makes weekly and as needed appointments with each resident, cardiologist that makes in house calls along with thrive behavioral therapies, dentistry that comes in house for dental treatments. The staff is more than staff!!!! They are like family. They treat residents and my grandmother with the utmost respect, love & dignity! The safety of each residents well being is top priority. They have a very well put together schedule for our loved ones to keep their minds and body active. They have events that include us nonresidents to encourage a more family oriented atmosphere. Weekly "field trips" with residents to get them out and about in the neighborhood. Scheduled activities with the community and schools. I can go on and on about how wonderful Encore truly is! But what is most important to know is that I found the perfect home for my grandmother that can gives her a better quality of life while suffering from dementia. It is a very hard pill to swallow to admit when you can't provide and give what your loved needs but it feels good to know Encore has the training, staff & LOVE that is given to my grandmother and all residents daily! They gave my back my relationship as a granddaughter/grandmother and my kids have the chance to actually be kids with their great grandma! I thank god daily for Encore and giving them the chance!!!! A huge thank you to Maria and Monica for always being there for me and the hard work you do. It is truly a gift that you and all of Encore has given me back! I hope my testimony gives you what you need in this trying time. Give Encore the opportunity to give you back your relationship with your loved one!

This is a house in a gated neighborhood by Waterford Lakes. It is an assisted living facility which…read morewas supposed to only house six people at a time. 90 percent of them were elderly. Robert and his wife, who own Avalon Assisted Living and Avalon Assisted Living II, are under litigation over their license; two of their facilities have been shut down. The state of Florida is trying to shut both of these locations down and it has been an ongoing situation for some time. I was told by David Selby, Florida Assistant General Counsel, that Robert has been in the court in the past over some serious charges that shocked me (I would contact him to find out more as I do not know the specifics). A woman in their care fell and eventually died: http://www.wftv.com/news/local/9-investigates-man-who-accused-assisted-living-mot/32003849 They present Avalon as a decent place. When you visit the place is spotless, very cheap for what it is and Robert and his wife come off as very kind and loving. Almost instantly my parent started complaining about the people yelling at night, the level of mental issues of the people, the staff being rude/overwhelmed, not being able to go outside, not having anything to do besides watch TV. One lady who worked there worked out with them but she was fired rather quickly. Then my parent went back to complaining. I think if they had painting, singing, walking or something then the people there might not be as angry but then again a lot of them seemed to me to not be quiet there in the head so I dont know. They lied to the state about my parent (this is documented in a visit), tried to overcharge me multiple times, feed them cheap food, would not provide paperwork that was asked for, the doctor who visited (Allillin) and the staff would not tell me when they came even though I asked MANY times (once I found out they had not come the day they said so that is probably why they didnt call me to come since they never came when they said), the staff went off in frustration in front of me at the elderly and said "now you wont get your medication" (probably because they are overworked/overwhelmed with the level of care required since every person in there appears to have a difficult time getting around or mentally has issues), I was told that my parent was used to move furniture to another location, I was told my parent could not go outside without me, the doctor who visits Avalon to care for the elderly did not have required medical documentation for my parent when asked for it multiple times, and it was just too much. I would say this bad review is just as equally a bad review for Alilin Family Medicine as I highly suspect they were claiming to see my parent and were charging for it even when they were not. I cannot prove this but why would they not want me to bring my parent into the office - why would they say "oh no we will be there in person" ? When I called to see if they came, they hadnt. Would they have told me they came if I hadnt told them I knew they didnt? My parent complained daily here and even threatened suicide. At the new location, my parent has not complained so I am happy and would have left sooner if I could've found a decent place.

We had several family issues going on at the time and I will always be thankful that God put him in our path. Derick, didn't treat us as money he treated us like family. So obviously we choose Excellence. Then came Jasmine Miller the Res. Care Director, she is exceptional, Jasmine I want you to know that you are an integral part of the healthcare team. Without you, Excellence wouldn't survive. Thank you for everything you have done. You and your team have played an essential role in the well-being of our father/uncle. providing a compassionate approach to our father/uncle's treatment, Your bedside manor and the ability to gently handle him has made a significant difference in our lives. The care, compassion, kindness and empathy shown to our family, to our father/uncle's well-being is something we are extremely thankful for. Again, Thank you for making a difference in the lives of your patients, and the family.

After expressing our concerns to Jasmine, she made sure that he had a "welcoming committee" of Spanish speaking residents waiting for him so he could feel comfortable. He can only speak Spanish. We were worried that he would not fit in or be able to communicate with others. I am delighted to say, that everyone has been very friendly and kind to him and us. The staff is so warm and caring! They always have a smile, address him by his name and have a friendly greeting ready for him. The director, Gustavo "Gus" has been very nice and accommodating. The Nurse's Director Jasmine, has been incredible! She has taken the time to make sure that my father is getting the care that he needs, shown compassion, dedication and is very receptive upon contact. She is definitely a problem solver with common sense, driven by a kind heart. I am certain that this is the right place for him. It is his HOME now. I would wholeheartedly, recommend Excellence for your loved one. With appreciation, Annie Maxwell (Pablo Rodriguez)
