The outdoor pool looked really nice, although we didn't get a chance to use it. The indoor pool, however, was amazing--honestly one of the best hotel pools I've been in! They even provided pool noodles and toys, which was a really nice touch. The hot tub was awesome too, especially with the waterfall feature. Our room was comfortable and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable, and while I wish the pillows had been a little larger, they were still comfortable. The room also had a pull-out couch and a large TV. The bathroom was great, with a nice shower and wall-mounted shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided. One thing I loved was the air conditioner. The fan was nice and loud, which meant I didn't even need to use my white noise machine to sleep--I slept great! We didn't use the fitness room, so I can't comment on that. Breakfast was grab-and-go style with a nice selection including cereal, yogurt, breakfast sandwiches, and toast. We ended up going to the bagel shop across the street instead, but it looked like there were plenty of good options available at the hotel. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would absolutely stay here again. But while we were staying here we found many dead bugs inside of our room along with our share of alive bugs. Some were inside of our beds. The on the go breakfast had relatively good food and the hot chocolate was very good. But the coffee was horrible! It was all muddy and sluggish. I do want to mention that upon arrival one of our party members said that one of our queen beds was slanted and on our last night she completely rolled out of the bed and hit her head on the nightstand! And around the same time our toilet stopped working in the middle of the night and wouldn't flush. We heard that other people also had a similar issue. Our curtains had moth holes in them. The clock was behind by eight minutes. And one final thing is that our air conditioner had mold on the vent which could potentially be dangerous. But overall, despite the bad things that happened, it wasn't a horrible experience. The rooms were clean upon arrival. The service was really good. And that's why I left a three star review. But still, I wouldn't return.

But the best part of our stay was without a doubt the owners, Charlene and Kevin. They are two of the warmest, kindest people we've ever met. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel so welcome. Anything we needed was taken care of immediately, and their hospitality truly made our stay feel like we were visiting old friends. Our room was large and has three beds. This was perfect for me and my two teenagers. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub. There is no breakfast. They have coffee and granola bars available for free. The carpets were dated. The hallways were dark. Reminded us of The Shining. The hot tub was very small. One of the lights had fallen out of the pool and was laying on the bottom of the deep end. We only paid $139 per night. Off season prices. We would stay here again. But I am not sure I would want to pay extra summer rates for a hotel that needs some updated.

I will say that one of the best parts of my son's wedding was being able to stay at the cottages where we all gathered and had an amazing time we were due to leave on Monday, but extended our stay till Wednesday. the proximity of this property to stores and restaurants made everything so easy . The large soaking tub was a welcome relief for this weary traveler and she even provided bath salts and bubble bath. I felt like I was in heaven! The site we stayed on (113) is the only transient site with a view that isn't on a busy road. It's super rocky and the water spigot flows into the only area flat enough to pitch a tent, but the view and proximity to attractions made it worth it. (FYI the "beach" is minuscule and always crowded.) The price was reasonable, and the people were friendly, so we rebooked for next year. After paying our deposit and securing the same site for next year we ordered a custom base for our tent to elevate it off the rocks and protect it from the water flow. Three days after it shipped, Paugus Bay Campground called to cancel our reservation with some story about dates shifting because of Bike Week, but when we agreed to take whatever dates were available they admitted they were giving our reservation to people who've been staying there longer and that we wouldn't be getting that site again. I understand taking care of your regulars, but they took the reservation and our deposit. Now we're out $800 for equipment we ordered specifically for this site, and when I tried to explain that Sue (?) nastily told me "That's not our problem." It disgusting that there were no cancellations allowed for my friend, but that my reservation is meaningless and I was essentially told to go f**k myself. I'm sure it's lovely to stay here if you've been doing so for decades, but there is no hospitality here for newcomers.

This is not a slick modern hotel. This is a classic wonderful warm beautiful comfortable place to stay for a night or much longer. They offer a variety of rooms and lodges, and prices vary accordingly as every room is unique. It has a bed and breakfast feel but it's setup more like a hotel. Every room has its own full bathroom and only coffee and tea is available in the mornings ( super good place for breakfast just down the road a bit) The buildings are a classic vintage heritage style and impeccably well maintained. The hosts are very welcoming, knowledgeable and very helpful. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hope this review bumps their yelp average up a bit, it deserves it.
