I love these old resorts in new England. The main building was built in the late 1700's and still has the old fireplaces with the brick ovens. The staff is friendly, and the rooms are clean. They are keeping up with technology, as they have satellite TV and great wifi. They even have a public computer with a printer. The kitchen was small but very efficient and fairly new. The work-out room is nice, and the pool is warm and clean. They keep the grounds well groomed and are really paying attention to guest comfort. Being an older resort, the floors creak some and so do the stairs, which I think adds to the experience of staying in a colonial building. It is definitely on the list of places to stay when touring New England again. Edit: I wrote this review while in Wolfeboro, so Yelp thinks I'm from there, but I'm not. We stayed last Sunday August 3rd. We stayed in room k 01 in the old building. Checked in at four, at 5:30 sounded like herd of elephants running back and fourth very noisey above us. Complained at 6pm. to front desk. She said they just check in give them sometime to settle in. Went out to get an ice cream , came back and watch t.v. all was quiet. Went to bed at nine. At ten thirty the noise started again the elephants were at it again , eoke us up from a sound sleep.Went on till around five thirty am. We checked out around seven thirty am. Couldn't take noise anymore, complained to front desk. She said would tell her manager. Haven't heard anything back They should have taken something off for our disruption, the room was great . But the noise was to much. Very dissatisfied. Will not teturn. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. 1. No sleep - paper thin ceiling & walls, so hear everything (footsteps, drawers opening & closing, faucet, toilet, etc.) from neighbors. 2. Dirty, dated rooms. 3. See-through curtains that don't block any light, and bed facing that double door letting in all light. 4. We only stayed one night, but here's the short and sweet: The biggest benefit of this "resort" is 4 (maybe more) boat slips are available on Lake Winnipesaukee at the Windrifter Yacht club and marina, which is 5 minutes down the road. Boom! Not many hotels can match that. We stayed in a studio in one of the outbuildings. It was a cute room with sliders to a back porch, a tiny kitchen, and tiny bathroom. It says it sleeps 4 in the small Murphy bed and pull out couch. I'd recommend no more than 2 adults for this room. Wifi was great and the one employee I spoke with was super friendly. Parking was superb, steps away from the door, although the lot could use a sweep so I'm not tracking sand and gravel into the room. It was quiet, being set back from the road. Everything was clean. Certain things were updated a while ago, obviously using the cheapest materials. The beds were reasonably comfortable. The AC was very powerful. I woke up in the middle of the night freezing in August. No place is perfect, but here are the downsides:The room had a weird chemical smell to it, and it was fairly strong throughout our stay. My wife thought it smelled like this was a smoking room for many, many years. There were a couple privacy issues, such as the window in the bathroom was 6 inches from the toilet and the hastilly mounted plastic mini blinds (that still had the tags on it) were too wide for the window opening, resulting in a gap at the bottom. Anyone walking by the window could see you using the toilet. It is what it is. This place is so old, it will never be a modern resort without completely knocking it down and rebuilding. The indoor pool area was ok. Plenty of towels were available. The pool was a salt water pool that was clean. The pool house was hot and musty because you weren't allowed to open a window or prop a door to ventilate it a bit. Pool rules were absurd. No food,.No drinks of any kind and certainly, no alcohol around the pool or "You'll be asked to leave" This is just unacceptable. I cant bring a bottle of water to the pool? Although we didnt trade our timeshare here, this is an RCI resort. I would recommend owners do some research before choosing this resort. read more

The ladies at the front desk are not helpful and rude. you will also need to handover your drivers license for them to hold onto if you plan on going for a swim in their pool which is under lock and key; even though they already have a copy and all of your personal information on file. Walls are also paper thin and you can hear everything above and on both sides of you. The bed is small and not comfortable, they don't even have comforters. We stayed overnight during June, 2019 and have previously stayed here on two occasions. The price was reasonable. The location is about a mile and half from the center of Wolfeboro commercial/tourist area. Our two room suite was located on the third floor and offered a small outside sitting area on the balcony One room had a queen size bed and the other room had two mini sofas and an eating area. The room did provide us with a stove, a refrigerator and about a 30 inch color TV in each of the two rooms. One thing I will mention is the floor of our room had low and high points. It is an old building and this added to the charm. There was amble daylight in the room which was helped by a skylight in each room. We interacted with staff members Diane and Gordon and they were very nice and accommodating. read more

Very Nice Country Inn. I don't think I would call it a resort. A little dated, but clean and very comfortable. Staff very pleasant. Heated pool open until 10 pm. Maid service costs $25/day extra, or you can do it yourself. Rooms are large with a kitchenette. Nice size balcony with golf course views available. read more

Time share exchange. Will never do again. As we went there towards the end of our week we were disappointed for the two nights we were there. First having been near the office we had to hear talking until they closed and the vacuum when they were cleaning up. I would not vacuum at 9:45p with a place full of people. To make matters worse our room was street side and all night heard cars and trucks up and down which the nights sleep was restless. We found a pair of a previous owners lady stockings/pull socks near the electrical outlet in the bedroom. If we saw this how could this be missed if they cleaned? Exchange company states there is a full bath. There was only a stand in shower and it was small. Walls were bowed and floor slanted. Fireplace was boarded up. Can tell this was an old house they decided to turn over to a "so called resort". States kitchen, but that is not the case. Not even a true kitchenette as the fridge was in the living room. 1970s furniture. We were going to get food and cook there for one night, but everything was dirty. As we are experienced timeshare holders I would not recommend this to anyone. Room Tip: Maybe the room above the office should not be there. Between traffic and listening to conversations... Stayed only one night. Doing a quick round trip to pick up a grandchild from camp. It's a bit dated and the room we were in could use a freshener. It was a 2 room 'suite' with a small kitchen set up. Not what we needed but it was available. Very small bath, king bed, rug was stained, tv in both rooms, adequate parking. Unable to comment on it as a 'resort' as we were only there to sleep one night. We never viewed most of the facility. We were on the second floor, front of the building. Really lovely stay at the Windrifter. It was rustic and a bit dated, but we had a lovely evening. Our room featured a king size bed and full bathroom, plus a hallway and a full living room (couch, loveseat, table for four plus) and a full kitchen - full sized fridge, oven, etc. It isn't the Ritz Carlton, but for the price it was excellent. Both rooms have flat screen HD TV's with built in DVD players. WiFi worked well. We didn't get to utilize the indoor pool but it looked nice. They had plenty of opportunities to connect with stuff to do, but we were enamored to be in our normal summer town during the winter so that was enough for us. There is no elevator and no baggage carts, so getting all our stuff in and out was a haul. That being said, we overpack. There was no shampoo and conditioner, which was weird, although we didn't ask either so it is distinctly possible it was available upon request. Resort is probably giving it all the best of it but its a small town, and if you are looking for a clean, quiet and cheap place to stay, this worked great for us. Again, it was offseason, but we were impressed enough that we called an audible and instead of going out to dinner we got takeaway and snuggled in. Don't waste your money. You would be better off staying in the comfort of your own home. The worst place I have ever stayed. I would hate for our experience to be yours. The front desk was not helpful. The internet they offer is like dial up or no reception at all. The bed makes so much noise it keeps you awake all night. It was so uncomfortable I woke up with a back ache and shoulder ache. You had to walk around the room bent over so you would not bang your head on the ceiling. You also had to bend over as you walked sideways around the bed. You had to run the water in the bathroom for 20 minutes for the hot water to reach the phone both sized shower. We had the place reserved for 7 days. We only lasted 3 days. read more

My family has been vacationing at the Windrifter in Wolfeboro since before I was born! (I am 35!) This year was a huge improvement with all the recent renovations. The rooms are updated with modern conveniences while still keeping the old colonial feel and character. There is also a gym on site now with brand new locker rooms. They also have a sauna! There is everything there and more! (Tennis courts, large redone patios, golf, and wireless) This year showed huge improvements and I am excited to see what next year will bring! read more

Not awful but certainly not great. The bed was clean but had to search for pillows and blankets. The couches were a little sketchy to me, I didn't want to sit on them. The bathroom appeared to be cleaned but a few black curly hairs were left behind, so really how well was it cleaned? I would definately look into another place to stay. read more

This place is really low end. Not a resort by any stretch of the imagination. The carpets are stained and smell like mold. The housekeeper never showed up to replace towels or anything else. There is a tiny bar of soap provided so don't forget your shampoo, conditioner, etc. Another review indicates recent renovations, I am not sure what those might be. The guest room doors and furniture are old and dirty, the door locks are at least thirty years old as are the curtains. read more

I've vacationed at the Windrifter a few times and the earlier reviews were fairly accurate at the time, but the place has seen some real improvements. The indoor pool is brand new and the last two times I stayed there each room had new couches. It is much cleaner and there were new things like free WiFi. Last Summer I stayed near the golf course, just recently I stayed in one of the lakefront rooms near downtown. It is a timeshare that also does rentals, in talking to some of the regulars they are putting a lot of money in bringing it up over the next couple of years. It still has a way to go, but I will definitely go back. read more
