The tables and chairs are super comfortable and there is a great view of the lake. I would recommend stopping in for a drink, but maybe skip the food. Drink menu - limited selection. Decent pricing. Food menu - limited selection. Pricy. Service - Our waitress was great, at first but quickly because MIA and brought out a side of sauce 20 minutes after we asked for it, and when our plates were already empty (awkward!). It would have been fine but she made it awkward and then it felt like she was avoiding us after that. Food - The food was also lackluster. There was no free bread or starter to get the night going, which is always disappointing. Then we had mixed reviews on food. The prime rib was good but the lobster scampi was tasteless. I will give credit to them on the amount of lobster in the dish (there was a ton!) but they need to add some lemon or something. It just tasted like buttered noodles.

With the passing of my Dad (he and Mom also had always wanted to stay here but could never afford it), I said charge it!! and booked an overnight stay. So glad I did. It was every bit as magical as I thought and the snowing during our stay made it even more so. The history, attention to detail, preservation, detail Oriented caring staff all led to an amazing stay I will never forget.

We booked a New Year's Eve stay for our family--three young children and my pregnant wife--and made that clear when reserving. Our room wasn't ready until after 4 PM, and when we were finally placed, it was directly above the ballroom hosting the New Year's Eve party. The noise was relentless for hours and made it impossible for our children to sleep. After multiple calls to the front desk, I spoke with the manager, Thea Ritchey, who told us the hotel "always throws a New Year's Eve party," was fully booked, and there was nothing she could do. Her suggestion was essentially "if you can't beat them, join them." With no resolution offered, we packed up our kids and drove over three hours back to Boston in snowy conditions that night. One stay was enough to end a family tradition--we won't be returning.

The booking website seemed to hail from the AOL era, making me wonder if the grounds would be just as antiquated. But upon arriving, we were pleasantly surprised. From the front, the resort looks fresh and impressively sized. Service from check-in to check-out was seamless, and when we had minor complications with the air-conditioning in our space, they brought a maintenance person to help in good time. Our vineyard-facing unit offered beautiful views, and I cannot understate how helpful it was to have a fully outfitted kitchen in our unit. I made full use of the blender to make morning smoothies, we found cutting boards and spoons aplenty for small snacks, and it was just nice to have an ice machine right in our giant fridge. I could see this being a major convenience for traveling families. To call it a resort might be a bit of a stretch. In my mind, a resort is an all-in-one site, including full options for dining, recreation, and entertainment. True, there are two restaurants, a small winery, a decent arcade, and a decent pool on site. But there were no breakfast options, and the pool was frequently closed while we were there. There's a so-called playspace in the lower level that was somewhat sadly outfitted with a few coloring materials and a pretty glitchy interactive projection that kids were done with after trying for a few seconds. That said, there were curtained off areas of live construction that promise more fun things to come. If the posters in the elevator are to believed, there will be a gondola leading from the hotel to a mountaintop, which should make for a fun wintertime stay.

We immediately vacated the premises out of concern for our safety. The Inn not only refused to refund us but also showed zero sympathy. In clear defiance of public health guidelines, the owner told us we should have stayed in the room and should not have left. The owner said that I needed to "act like an adult," called me "an entitled little horror," and screamed, "This is New Hampshire and not a war zone in Ukraine!" She blamed me for waking them up at 3 am and even accused me of bringing the bat into the room. She was inconsistent, at times saying there was no bat and at other times saying it was just a fruit bat. Bat exposure aside, their costumer service is the opposite of hospitable, with zero regard for our health and safety. Also the room was dirty, with dust balls and no hand soap.

The breakfast was overall good, but I wish there more than one fixed savory option. The host was helpful and friendly. But here is where it goes downhill. First of all, the room was dirty with cobwebs and dead insects in the windows. But the worst part was the room was infested with fleas! My wife went home with welts all over her body and we never went in the woods or anything else that would have caused that. I understand a place wanting to be "pet friendly" but with that means you actively make sure rooms are free of pests. I wish this hadn't had happened as it really left a sour note for our stay.
