However, while the house's decor is very warm, unfortunately the management is not. My wife and I have traveled New England, trying assorted bed and breakfasts and inns. The customer service and hospitality at this venue is by far some of the worst. My wife and I were here for a wedding when a 75-80" black wooden "antique" bifold door fell on my wife who was 9 months pregnant. The door had been placed in front of inward/outward swinging door to the kitchen, which was knocked over and struck my wife in the head. While accidents happen and I understand that, I was annoyed so I had asked to speak with the owner. I was met with an individual who appeared unwelcoming and unapologetic, that introduced himself as the owner Peter. I questioned Peter about the door and why it would be placed in front of another moving door so close to the patrons or why it wouldn't at least be anchored. He stated the door is meant to be moved and it wasn't his problem. He explained that the decor is his, but he's not accountable for where the vendors place it. Throughout my interaction with Peter, never once did he apologize or ask how my wife was. Meanwhile the vendors apologized and attempted to make efforts to reconcile the situation. The next morning, due to the unsatisfactory of the owners response, I asked if there was any way we could be comped. He said absolutely not, it's not his problem and that we had resolved it last night. Again, never asked how my wife was doing. Based off of the interaction with owner, and his response to the incident, his actions turned me off to the venue and I'd never go back.

My family has been going to Wolfboro every summer for roughly 45 years (which is before I was born,…read moreso all of my life.) This year, my family was up for their yearly 2 week stay and I decided I was able to come up for a few days with my gf and dog. I'm only able to come up for a few days due to personal issues and, not to go into it, need an emotional support animal when doing so. I've never had a hotel have an issue with an ESA and want to charge $50 for one. My dog is trained, will not bark in the room, will not make a mess, and is most hypoallergenic (he sheds a little but not much.) Anyway, we called the Wolfeboro Inn a few days prior to arrival just to let them know we're bringing him and will have paperwork etc. We were met with the downplaying of my disability and them letting us know unless we were "physically disabled, like being blind..." etc. we need to pay. While hotels, don't *have* to waive a fee for ESAs, it's crazy to hear someone actively dismissing a "mental disability" compared to a "physical disability". I know people have their opinions on mental health, and unfortunately it is seen as *lesser than* compared to things you can "see" but when you live with it, you know it is very real. The difference between what you "have to do" and what is the "right thing to do" makes all the difference to show the heart of a company. If this ended up being a supportive hotel, that wasn't stuck in the stone-ages, it would have 100% become our yearly place to stay -- but unfortunately we had to cancel and never will be stepping foot into the establishment. It's a win/win I suppose, I will receive the ~$330 back that I paid for 2 nights and they can hopefully book someone they actually want as a guest. I'm sure it's a fine hotel, but it's the first one (and we've stayed in major hotels as well as boutique hotels) we've ever had this issue with, so just be warned prior -- if you're bringing an animal, make sure you have enough of a disability for their liking.

The beach is small, but there were never more than a handful of people on it at any given time, even though we came on a busy holiday weekend. We brought our standup paddle board to explore the lake, but there are also kayaks available for rental. Our room was perfect for a family stay. The kitchenette had a mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot and toaster, and cupboards ready with silverware, dishes--even wine glasses. The room was clean and the decor was modern and minimalist. When our tv didn't work, my husband let the office know, and the owner himself came up immediately to fix it. He was also in the office folding towels when I stopped by for complimentary coffee in the morning. It's apparent the owner has worked hard to make this inn a special place.

Will definitely come back for the summer.
