Good ol' Yelp - needed a place to stay up here that was not too pricey but also decent and clean. This place exceeded my expectations. The boys loved it so much that they were begging for another night (I wish). The rooms were a normal hotel room size but with a "fireplace" in the corner (nice touch). It was right on the water with a dock for swimming and another for renting boats. We partook of the hot tub after our swim and warmed up at the fire pit after. We never made it to the patio to relax but it looked like a fun place to hang. I hope I can come back to the area soon and if I do, I know I will stay here. read more

A friend chose this place for a group of us the past weekend. We ended up booking 4 rooms and the three I saw seemed very cute and comfortable. It's a little dated, but I think that just makes it more authentic! As a kid I remember seeing places like this all over and ALWAYS wanting to go to one. The only complaint I'd have is I wish they had canoes or kayaks on property to use like the other local hotels (maybe they don't because of Covid?) but other than that, the staff was very accommodating, and you don't have to leave the property for much if you want to just relax. I'm considering going up there for a solo trip some time! Thank you to the owners and staff for being super nice and accommodating . Maybe next time you'll join us for dinner :) because there WILL be a next time! read more

OMG! I wish I had researched this "resort" a little bit better! They have lots of 5 star reviews on their website. Sorry it was FAR from 5 stars! We stayed there from 8/16 -8/20. When we arrived the first thing we were told was that there would be no house keeping. Ok no big deal. What they did not tell us was that NO ONE would be in the office most of the time!!! Room is wicked old and outdated. Mattresses were so lumpy and uncomfortable. All 4 of us agreed on that! The whole place is in desperate need of updating! I did notice that they were doing some repairs but let me tell you, they have a LONG way to go!! If you wanted to use the micro, you had to unplug either the fridge or the ac!! So I went to Dollar Tree and picked up a multi plug outlet. Room had this old musty, mildew type of smell which was made worse by the AC! Toilet was plugged.. went to the office 3 times..no one there. So again went to Dollar Tree and picked up a plunger. They had several gas grills all over the property for guests to use. Only 3 had propane tanks.. They had a fire pit for guests to use. However the pit was usually surrounded by adults drinking. I wanted to bring my grandson down to do smores, but did not want him around strangers that were drunk. Ants and spiders were every where.. The plus side was the gentleman who check us in was nice, and the older lady that was there on day 3 (office only seemed to be occupied when it was check in or out)was also nice. If you are visiting Lake Winnipesauke, then look no further for your choice in lodgings. It almost pains me to write a review for The Lazy E Motor Inn because I would love to keep this place a secret, but everyone should be able to have the kind of vacation we had. The Lazy E is a privately owned and family ran resort located in the Laconia area of NH. The Lazy E Motor Inn sports many different kinds of rooms and cottages that will fit a variety of needs and wants. They offer one bedroom cottages, motel rooms, suites, and even a four bedroom lake house with private lakefront property. The entire resort is situated on a gentle incline towards the water offering every room with a relaxing view of the lake whether it be from the deck, or your room. There are two cottages that are situated right on the waterfront sporting killer views. We stayed in a one bedroom cottage. Our cottage was meticulously cleaned, and exuded a rustic and cozy feeling. While it wasn't quite as updated as the many other types of rooms, it truly was a place that we could call home while we vacationed. Everything that you might need was available. In the central area, there was a futon, a pullout double bed, and a dining table with four chairs. The kitchenette was stocked with plates, silverware, glassware, pots, pans, two small refrigerators, a double burner stove, sink, microwave and coffee maker. All you need to do is show up with your food and you will be good to go. The bedroom had ample closet space, a dresser, and I believe a queen sized bed. All linens were provided by the management. Additionally, there were two TV's in the cottage, just in case you find yourself with a rainy day and nothing to do. Local cable TV access was provided. The property features so many amenities that you wouldn't expect to find at a place for this price. There is a centrally located fire pit that is lit nightly and can be enjoyed by all. We were encouraged to add logs onto it at our leisure. Right behind that was there hot tub... yes, a hot tub! While taking a soak, you can bask in the great view of the lake. It was truly relaxing. Down by the waters edge there is a swimming area, and a fishing area with plenty of dock space for everyone to enjoy it. There is a sand play area for the kids, and tables and chairs to have some dinner or drinks lakeside. Dock space is offered if you would like to pull up a small boat or jet ski while you stay. The Lazy E also offers boat rentals such as canoes, paddle boats, kayaks, and row boats. These are offered as complimentary if you stay a week or more. I think I counted 6+ propane BBQ grills that were scattered around the property so everyone could get their grill on. Night time is where this place truly gets going. The fire pit gets lit, and their bar area beckons you. While they don't serve liquor or beer, they provide ample space for you to enjoy your own. There are bar tables, a stand up bar, big screen TV, a horse shoe pit, tiki torches for the bugs, picnic tables, plenty of lighting, even blenders and cocktail making accessories. Everything is offered to you for your use with the request that you be respectful and clean up after yourself. The owner even installed a pull over tarp system that will provide protection from the rain, so you won't have to be stuck in your room. It really was awesome to be sitting right on the lake, with a baseball game on, while sipping on cocktails, enjoying a spectacular sunset. The acoustics of the bar area fires all the sound down to the lake. We weren't bothered by any noise coming from that area. Owners Les and Linda have made this place their livelihood and it shows. Local newspapers are dropped off to your door every morning. If you want to have a grillfest, they have that covered too. I believe they had two huge grills/smokers that they will let you use and offer some expert advice. They day before we got there, someone had used them to cook 25 pounds of Alaskan king crab legs. I was sorry I missed that. I got the feeling that many of the guests were repeat customers. This only shows that The Lazy E is doing something right. All in all, The Lazy E Motor Inn provided us with a stellar vacation experience. We can only attribute it to the many features that were offered and the thoughtfulness of the owners. A personal touch will go a long way and these guys were spot on. One of their mottos is to be as friendly as you want to be. This statement was not taken in jest. What's there to say? Would you like to stay by a gorgeous lake in what feels like a family member's guest house? That's Lazy E Motor Inn. Having chosen this place based on price and reviews, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect before I got there. Each passing day I grew more and more in love with this place. The room we stayed in was their cheapest option, with a microwave and mini fridge, we were all of 30 feet from the edge of the lake and were able to subsist nicely with the provided comforts. Everything seems to be stuck back in time about 30 years ago, but it all works and there's a certain charm to it all. The firepit was just outside our door which lead to much reading and relaxing by the fire, watching the sun set on the lake and letting the problems of the world slip right on by. The bar area is made up of boats, a bar area and a (SD) big screen TV. Watching the end of the Patriots or Red Sox game, having a random chat with other guests or the owners, making your own food on their grills or mixing your drink in their blenders. These are all possibilities and if you can get a chance to do them all I promise you, you will have a good time. They also offer dirt-cheap small craft rentals, $5/hr for a canoe, $10/hr paddle boats. For a quick spin around the lake, it can't be beat. They include Wi-Fi, but it is terribly slow. Their is basic cable in the rooms but the TV is damn near an antique. Notice, this is still a five star review because frankly, these things don't matter. If you're in your room complaining about the fact your tv isn't in HD, or that you can't browse fast enough of your smart phone you're missing the point. Get out on the lake! I selected this hotel/inn as a recommendation from a friend for a little summer vacation for me & el hubbs. We did select a smoking room (& this is where my friend thinks it went wrong.) To start; our room was in a "off" location down the street from the rest of the "inn area"- I was not made aware of this till we arrived. Upon arrival to the "off" location, the door lock was jammed and room key was not working. Eventually after messing with the door, key and lock we were finally able to enter the room. As we entered,bee were greeted with the stench of moldy mildewy basement. Everything is damp. Everything. Floor, Bed. Pillows, etc. At this point its already 11pm, so we have no choice but to stay in this disgusting room. (Although we seriously debated on sleeping in my car). This was not the romantic get away we had in mind. Kinda humorous, the candle I brought to set the mood I ended up lighting to try and help with the smell. The next morning we called & they switched our room to a larger room next door. This room was an improvement but everything was still slightly damp. My mother and I went to NH this weekend. When we checked in to the Bear Tree Lodge (one of the Lazy E's motels) it looked quaint and clean inside. It was not until my mother noticed they didn't even put the storm windows down, that I started to discover how grimy this whole motel room was. As I raised the window up, I saw a big chunk of something that look like a dead animal but I kind of think it was a piece of molding rotten wood. Not to mention the tons of dead bugs and dust and dirt in the windowsills! All of this grime made me think what if they had bedbugs... Luckily there weren't any. I kept searching and I found so many dust bunnies in the crevices, there was a CHEETO in between the crevice of my mom's bed. My mom said at least the shower is clean. I said oh really? I took a picture of the dust and grime on the top of the shower wall! There is a sign on the wall that says the maid service the rooms between 10 and two. I'm actually surprised these beds were even made! I don't think anybody has cleaned those rooms all summer! Not to mention my pillow had stains on it... Some of which look like old blood! Thank God I had a pillowcase... Who knows if that was really clean. One of the only reasons I gave this place one star is that the room itself was cute and accommodating, but what I like best out of the whole motel room where the little accent pieces. There was a bear toothbrush holder (that of course was dirty n had OLD WATER in it) A bear towel holder, a bear mirror, and a few other things. Both the man who was running it and the sign said to keep the dishes that we use as clean as possible... There was barely any dish soap left to wash the dishes with, and the dishes that I looked at were so disgusting I wouldn't even use them! I would never stay at this place again unless I inspected it myself before I rented it to make sure they actually clean the place. I have pictures! On a spur of the moment decision we took a drive with our 13 year old up to Lazy E. We stayed at one of their other locations at Weirs Beach but this was available so we had Unit #4. Not huge but very cute and fireplace in corner made room homey, along with A/C!!! Not many people there and we were in lake for almost 2 hours!!! Raft was neat and lake temp. Was Amazing!!! The owner lit a fire so that was nice, Ali g with hot tub open. Very enjoyable night And will be back!! IF in the offseason budget, my Only suggestion is to invest in better bed pillows and ones used are thin and tough to sleep on... TY for a nice stay! read more

If you enjoy a dirty room this place is for you! We contacted the owner he would not return our call. Checked in October 10th 3:06 and left by 6:00 am. They say we stayed 6+hrs so we don't deserve our money back. We dropped our bags in the room and left to sightsee. We came back at night and I went to take a shower and water squirted all over the bathroom walls and mirror. I called the front desk and was told that no one was available until the following morning. Needless to say I guess I shouldn't have expected to take a shower there. We were informed that we waited until 9 o'clock at night to report a broken shower which I didn't know there were any schedules to take a shower. We were in NH Columbus Day so we had a hard time finding another place. So in closing we were charged $239 for the night and the pictures below tell it all ! The place was so gross we were not even sure if they changed the beds between guests. Covid clean it was NOT on top of it! To sum it up I would've felt cleaner sleeping in my car. I had a weekend booked here for my nieces wedding... 2 weeks before the wedding, I realized I could only stay Saturday but they still made me pay for 2 nights .... when I arrived to check in at the "mother" property (Lazy E) ....of the Bear Hill, whick I was booked into., I was disturbed to see how gross and dirty.. but considering it was a big wedding weekend there were NO other hotels available.... I finally made my way to Bear HIll which was in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE.... it was even worse than the lazy E.... the doorknob was barely attached ... when I entered I discoverd a MUSTY dirty room ... the bathroom radiator was so splattered with urine that it was rusted... there was NO WAY I was going to sleep here... I'm guessing it would have been infested with bedbugs... I actually drove all the way back to Boston after the wedding so I didn't have to stay in this place... DO YOURSELF A FAVOR . .... do NOT book this place ... I can't even understand how it's not condemned.... Book into the Margate or the Mill Hill... or ANY PLACE ELSE!! read more

At first this place seemed like a nice quaint, secluded spot to stay, but you are not alone. Ants are everywhere. It feels like they are constantly crawling up and down your skin. Have these people ever heard of exterminators? Don't get me wrong the staff is nice, but the bugs are not!!!!!!!!!!!!! The rooms are a little run down, and although it has a full kitchen, the oven did not work. The horseshoes are fun, and the lake is nice for swimming, but the bar area is overgrown with plant life. It is in good proximity to Weirs Beach, which is a big plus. Also, have fun waking up to the people across from you drinking beer at 6:00 am and walking back to your cabin just to hear, "I'm coked out of my 'bleepin' mind!" read more

my fiance and i LOVE this place! We got a cottage right on the lake, beautiful view, the rooms are a little out dated but that was part of the cottage feel ;) the best part was the cool little sand box area right by the deck, for my son. They have a cool boat with a slide my kids loved it! and lots of trucks for him to play with too! Also they have a fire every night which was very nice :) We cant wait to go back!!! read more

My rating does not count the courteous staff, the owners. However, the room cleaners were not thorough. 1. My biggest complaint is the room cost. $239 per night for a run-down place that smelled between maple syrup and mold. I feel like the owners took advantage of us by overcharging based on their location. Two rooms at that rate, NOT WORTH IT. 2. Knives had hardened food on them. 3. Trash from previous occupants was still in the room. 4. Carpenter ants. 5. Microwave didn't work, so there was another one, but they left the broken one still plugged in the primary location. The second microwave was tucked in a corner, so if you weren't paying attention, you would not have noticed. 6. Parking does NOT have ACCESSIBILITY PARKING. Rooms do not have it either. If you need a cane, a walker, a wheelchair, go elsewhere. 7. Parking. HORRIBLE. Seriously, only one car per room. If you are a group of people with multiple cars (as we were), someone from your group will have to ferry you 3.5 miles down the road to an ISOLATED location for you to leave your car. Huge inconvenience for people on different schedules. 8. Parking lot is absolutely horrendous. Very tight to manoeuvre through; seems more ideal for motorcycles than cars. Or SUVs. 9. Walkways are rundown and not secure. If you aren't steady on your feet, watch out. You will trip. 10. So many lights both outside and inside are out, dead, pealing. 11. Lots of discarded items, or items that look discarded, in the common area. For the price we paid, it just seemed like it should have been SO MUCH MORE MANICURED than it was. Overall, the whole place just seemed rundown. If people are being charged this amount per room per night, put that money into upkeep. 12. The door was rotting. 13. Toilet was leaking. 14. Griminess in some places. 15. I cleaned the ceiling fan because there was SO MUCH caked on dust. Even after scrubbing it, I couldn't get half off. It was gross. Not sure if they've ever noticed the ceiling fans needed dusting, but they do. 16. It's a great location but the facility wasn't all that much. Especially at $239 per room per night. I'm actually pretty peeved I paid that amount for what I got. read more

Enjoyed Our Stay We have family in the area and seem to always stay someplace different when visiting, which isn't often enough since we live in Florida. We saw this on tripadvisor and the reviews were good enough to give it a try. We're glad that we did. First of all, this is obviously not the Ritz, so don't expect frills and luxury. We stayed in one of the cabins, which have been around for a while. The carpet looked fairly new, the wood was beautiful and the entire room was very clean. The shower, although small, had a unique shower head that you could move out of the way, making the shower feel much larger than it was. The furniture needed replacing, but the chairs in the living area were comfortable and we used the trundle bed and the couch for our suitcases. The bed was a little hard for my taste, but wasn't uncomfortable. We brought our own pillows, which can always make a bad bed that much better. The kitchen had a two burner stove, sink and two refrigerators. One wasn't on, but it might not have been plugged in, and the other seemed warm, but the freezer worked great. Outside was one of the best parts of this motor inn. The view was beautiful, right on the lake. There was a hot tub, which we didn't have a chance to use, and a fire pit that we had a chance to enjoy, both have great views. Each cabin had an area with a picnic table and gas grill. The waterfront had a deck running the length withs steps for swimming access and docks with a paddle boat and canoes for rent, for a reasonable rate. There was a sandy play area for kids. I saw that someone commented about the lack of a beach, but most of the lake has a rocky coastline. There is an outdoor "bar" area where you have a table, chairs and tv. We were there in early fall, so it wasn't really used much, but I could see it being a lot of fun in the summer. The owners were super nice and we chatted with them about their motorcycles. Just really nice people. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would consider coming back, especially if we could have the time to enjoy the hot tub and fire pit. read more

Check-in was okay, until I had to walk around in the dark with my children to find our room. I thought that 2 nights wouldn't be bad, until I checked-out and they called me later to tell me I wasn't welcomed back because I didn't clean some of the dishes in the sink. They told me in the beginning that house cleaning was provided in the bill and now they said that I am not welcomed back because I didn't clean some of the dishes. Also, while I am being insulted by the lady that is the manager, I'm guessing, she starts to insult my Christianity. She told me I am not being a positive example to her non-believer staff members. However, she was just being a complete miserable, unforgiving woman. So, I'm the horrible example? I hope this lady loses her job. read more

We love the Lazy E! We first stayed here in September 2013 for our wedding anniversary. This place was recommended to us by friends who had stayed here and loved it. We loved it so much that we booked 4 nights here over the 4th of July holiday this summer. We stayed in the cabins both times. Very rustic, they remind me of the cabin I stayed in as a kid in the 1980s on the other side of the lake. Brandon at the front desk was very helpful. We forgot to print out the token coupons for FunSpot (we are big kids :) ) and he was kind enough to print us some. Over the 4th of July weekend, the owner Les fired up his smoker and smoked a bunch of food for everyone to enjoy (bring something to share). There is a cool outdoor patio where everyone was hanging out. My husband and I had a great time chatting with the friendly people staying there. Les is a wonderful host. We did some swimming off of their dock, very beautiful views. There is a hot tub which we didn't end up using but a lot of other people did and they seemed to be having a great time. There are grills everywhere so bring stuff to grill if you want to save some $$ on eating out. The only (minor) issue we had was the wifi was spotty, but that's fine, unplugging for a bit is a good thing :) We made it over to one of the other properties - Gunstock to check out Schuster's Tavern. AWESOME food! All in all a great place to stay, highly recommended! read more
