We are regulars in The Lakes region and usually stay with a family member at the campground a quarter of a mile away in their camper. Since we had a 4 year old & a newborn with us we opted to get a room to spare a retired aunt and nearby campers of potential crying. This place was lovely! The view alone is worth it, set on a hill overlooking Lake Winnie! There are cottages each with its own grill, porch and parking (separated buildings) and then there is the main building with rooms attached. Because we are such a last minute decision we were only able to snag a room in the main building. It was a lovely room with two beds, air conditioning and clean! The only downside is that there isn't enough "counter space" for things. The bathroom didn't have any it was just a mirrored medicine cabinet in the bathroom and in the room itself, just atop the dresser and a little space on the nightstand which already had things on it. Other than that, there were chairs outside the room to sit outside and enjoy (we did during a rains storm). Also, we were the first room and everyone has to walk by our room to get to theirs as there's just one entrance so while in the room we kept the curtains drawn but it was not bad. They redid the pool evidently and it's a warm saltwater pool and it was so nice! They have plenty of towels and pool toys there along with ability to Bluetooth music. There's a deep end and shallow end. We made some friends at the pool! There isn't much shade just a few umbrellas so you need to get there at the right time. The property is located next to one of the best ice cream spots Kellerhause and there's a trail to walk directly over - this can be dangerous! It's also extremely dog friendly - we met so many cute pups! But surprisingly it's still clean so there isn't any indication of dogs in the rooms and my husband is allergic and he was fine. Thank you for the most enjoyable summer vacation ever. We highly recommend this resort for the gorgeous stunning views and the family friendly fun atmosphere. Location is perfect, close to so many attractions (lake cruises, scenic train rides, Castle in the Clouds, Mount Washington Cog, Flume Gorge, arcades galore, excellent restaurants, hiking and kayaking, boating, swimming and so much more), and the hosting services are perfect! Awesome kindest of hosts, hands on! Place is super clean and very cozy. We felt at home! Dog friendly, adorable cabins, super convenient. We loved it so much we did not want to come back! It has a lovely pool and beautiful lawns and flowers all around. Our favorite thing to do was to watch the islands from our very own porch - so serene and calming, real vacation vibes. Every cabin and cottage has its own grill, and the AC is excellent. The bed is so comfortable. We will definitely be back like the many other repeat and happy guests. Currently staying here for the night, for a VERY last minute getaway. We wish we could stay longer! When we checked in, I got a little nervous when the owner told us we were staying in one of the cottages that they haven't renovated yet.... but when we walked into it, it was super clean and bright. Not run down at all, and plenty of space for 3 people. The bathroom area was definitely on the smaller side and my husband had trouble maneuvering in the shower stall, but it was great for some laughs. The pool area was great. Super clean, not crowded. And the view is amazing. It's close to Weir's Beach and there's plenty of things to do in the area. And there is a path that leads from the property to the ice cream/candy shop/ gift shop next door. So glad we found this so last minute. We will definitely be back! read more

The Grand View Resort was the perfect place to get away for a couple of nights. We rented 2 rooms that featured 2 queens, a nice TV, ice cold AC and a lot of attention to the details that matter to me. Best part is that they allow dogs and we bought our Malamute puppy! For mid summer the price was very reasonable. The weather was pure sunshine perfect for both days. No need to go anywhere else. This is now our place for having lodging and having a great time in the Lakes Region of NH. The view is to die for and I am sure it looks the same as in 1850 when they named the resort The Grand View. The sun rising in the east over the mountains that overlook the lake is incredible and worth getting up early for. The manicured grounds are lush green with lots of flowers and many bird feeders! The accommodations themselves were A+. Rooms were amply sized and immaculate. I was impressed with the excellent mattress and the choice of 4 different types of pillows. Its nice not to wish you had brought your own. To me the bed is of utmost importance, it can make or break a motel stay again an A+. The shower had great pressure too! Thought the TV could have been a size larger but was new enough and we were not there to sit inside anyways. Grilled the second night after another fantastic and long day on the water. As we sat out by the fireplace overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee beer in hand I am thinking why am I breaking my neck on life's endless treadmill when I could get a place by a lake somewhere near here or there and chill out forever. I want to add that I left a part of our dogs crate in the room when we left. We stopped next door at Kellerhaus Ice cream & gift shop. I couldn't believe it the owner ran all the way with this metal piece at least a couple hundred yards to give it to us. Blew me away how incredibly nice and caring that was. 6 Stars! read more

I really liked this place. We're usually middle-tier hotel goers but friends were getting married on the Mt Washington and had reserved the resort for themselves and other family and friends. We stayed in the cottage next to the biggest one (where our friends were) and it was perfect. Basically a double queen studio and super clean!! The cottages form a sort of amphitheater view of an immaculate lake vista that you cannot stop taking in. Owners were super flexible and friendly. Be sure to try the pristine saltwater pool as well--there's a Roomba type device constantly keeping it spotless. read more

We had a WONDERFUL 5-night getaway at the charming Grand View Resort with a location second to none. Liked · Our room was exceptionally clean. The innkeepers, Kirk and Clover, treated us as though we were family. They operate with a very small staff and yet the rooms are cleaned more thoroughly than those at any hotel/motel or 4 star resort we've ever stayed at. The grounds are kept in pristine condition so that the guests can enjoy them and the spectacular views of the lake and mountains. Most of the rooms are pet friendly and the owner's own dogs, Max and Lily freely room the grounds. Max became a regular visitor when we sat outside our room. Guest are encouraged to make the 3-minute walk to the Kellerhaus next door for delicious ice cream, home-made chocolates and a variety of gifts. The resort is in the heart of the Lakes Region with lots to do and a plethora of waterfront restaurants within a few minutes drive. We had read reviews of the resort prior to arriving, but the Grand View far exceeded our expectations. During our 5-night stay, we thoroughly enjoyed all of our interactions with Kirk and Clover, whether we were sitting on the beautiful wrap-around porch of the main house or sitting on the deck watching the Thursday night football game on their big screen TV. Kirk and Clover are kind, humanitarians, and it was our pleasure to get to know them a bit during our stay. My husband booked the Premier Queen Suite #12 for a Labor Day weekend getaway. I'm 7 months pregnant and the trip was meant to be a babymoon of sorts with our 5 year old Shepherd/Retriever mix. He booked the suite because we planned on bringing food and using the kitchen to keep our costs down, by avoiding eating out more than we needed to. He also liked that it advertised a direct view of the lake. The positives - The view is spectacular, the cottage we ended up with (I think it was one of the Deluxe Queen Cottages) was super clean, the beds were new and very supportive & the kitchenette at least allowed us to store the food we brought and eat breakfast during our whole stay. Although the view of the lake was not a direct one, we still had a partial view that was enjoyable in the mornings over coffee & breakfast. Even though we ended up eating out for lunch and dinner, the area is relatively inexpensive. As we're from MA, we're used to paying a lot more for meals out. The negatives - Immediately upon arriving to the property (after 4+ hours on the road) we were told that the reservation we booked a month earlier was not pet friendly. This was particularly frustrating as the description via the online booking system states "Pet Friendly" for the Premier Queen and I even called the week the reservation was made to confirm this was accurate and was told we were good to go, to just bring our own blankets (which we were happy to do). I don't want to get into all the specifics of the communication that took place between myself and the owners, as it wasn't a very pleasant exchange for me - especially after being on the road so long and being a first time customer here. Bottom line, I was stressed out and anxious that we were going to be turned away because of a mistake that was not ours in the first place. I understand sometimes people are caught on an off day, I've worked in customer service & sales for over a decade myself and know it can be particularly trying during holiday weekends...therefore, I'm willing to give Kirk & Clover the benefit of the doubt in this instance. However, instead of getting what we originally booked we were switched into one of the other cabins that are "Pet Friendly". I can't really tell now if there was a price difference between the suite we originally booked and the cabin we ended up with. From what I can see on the site (looking at future bookings) if there was a price difference at all it looks as though it was around $10-20/night. Kirk & Clover were also kind enough to waive the $25 pet fee as far as I can tell on our receipt. However, it does lead us to believe that we ended up paying for something we didn't really get and without knowing better at his point we just have to cut our losses. I think my advice going forward would be to try your best to communicate in a kind manner to your guests, especially first timers. I'm sure we aren't the only ones traveling a great distance to stay in this area and to have somewhat of an unpleasant initial impression just starts a trip off on the wrong foot. I'm glad everything worked out and we were able to be accommodated, along with our dog but I know we did everything we could have done beforehand to avoid the misunderstanding in the first place. Perhaps having the same "Policies & Restrictions" literature on all rooms isn't the best way to go for the online booking, as it confuses guests on which rooms are indeed "Pet Friendly". I'd also suggest to those booking with the intent on bringing a pet to call ahead and have whomever you're speaking with pull up your specific reservation and confirm all the necessary details...although I think we did this to the best of our ability, perhaps we could have been more detailed ourselves. Overall, we had a good stay, we both love the area and hope to come back again soon. read more

From their newly renovated motel to the cozy cabins to the friendly hosts, The Grand View Motel and Cottages blew us away! We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights in the King Cabin with lake view for the 4th of July holiday. Our cabin was perfectly maintained and a cozy retreat after a long day on the water. Perfect for families with fur-babies and little humans or a romantic get away for two. There was plenty of room for parking of an 18' boat and the Meredith Public docks are a quick drive for those looking to have some fun on the water. The firepit made for great socializing with the fellow guests and the pool was the perfect place to cool off while looking off into the distance at the lake and mountains. Don't miss the Kellerhaus icecream buffet just a short walk over the tiny bridge at the tree line. We will definitely be back and would suggest this place to anyone! read more

This place has it all, great location with access to all the area attractions and a gorgeous view of the lake. Just spent 4 nights over the 4th at the Grandview and it was perfect. Rooms and cabins are updated,clean and well appointed with good size frig, coffee maker. Owners live on the property and go out of their way to make it a positive experience, with lots of outdoor space, grills, chairs and pool. We will be back! read more

I'm giving it three stars based solely on the couple working in the office. We were told new owners just purchased this property the week prior. They were very welcoming and we were happy to get a last minute room during bike week. We stayed in cottage 5. The beds were HORRIBLE. It felt like we were sleeping on a box spring. Both queen beds were the same. Got a horrible nights sleep. Hopefully the new owner is planning on putting some money into this place. read more

I am in total shock over how this establishment treated my friends and I. We were trying to figure out hot to split the deposit - they immediately debit one while night from your credit card when you book, which is something I have never seen before when a hotel is marked as " pay at the property ". We called last night and they would not help, and when I said it felt like their policy was not clear on the website I booked it through and that it felt like they took the money in sort of a sneaky way, they cancelled the reservation without even working with us. I have stayed in lovely boutique hotels all over the world, not one of them takes an entire night as a deposit a month before the reservation. The responsibility falls on the hotel to make sure the third party websites where they sell rooms is clear, and when they are not, like in this case, they could have at least worked with us. Let's hope the refund comes through as fast as they went on the defensive... read more
