I ended up hiring and paying another highly respected and reputable carpentry/painting contractor to finally complete the caulking and painting of the V.K. & Sons Inc. installed Anderson sliding glass door and Pella window after I had been told that I had to wait for warmer temperatures which I patiently had done. In addition, after waiting almost 90 days, I made the decision to hire and pay another highly respected and reputable carpentry/painting contractor to successfully start and complete a nice interior job that V.K. & Sons Inc. was supposed to do which unfortunately never materialized. I had been told that the interior job would be scheduled soon after the Christmas and New Year holidays, but that just never happened. I finally realized that my job either had been forgotten about, or had been "kicked to the curb" based on the number of recent GOOGLE reviews V.K. & Sons Inc. had received from other customers who had their interior paint work completed. On a positive note, I requested and did promptly receive back my deposits from V.K. & Sons Inc. for the interior job "screw-up", but I cannot ever consider using or recommending them ever again. My being told "good riddance" by the "owner" in an e-mail after he stated that I could pick-up my refund check at the V.K & Sons Inc. Oakland, NJ shop location did not really help much either. There are many other excellent carpentry/painting contractors that sincerely appreciate customers not only who pay promptly, but more so when they give repeat business. They respected the property and the gardens surrounding my property. They cleaned up and kept things organized from our daily routine and for themselves. The workers were so kind and generous with their time and patience as I inspected their work and made specific requests as they were working (drain pipes painted one color or the other, foundation painted and repainted a different color, and details by the entrance doorways and small spaces missed). They would not leave unless I (we were) was satisfied. The whole experience from quote to last walkthrough inspection was professional and courteous. Every employee had great workmanship and ethics. We had several neighbors ask for their card because of the quality of their work and efficiency. The process from start t finish took 4 days.They came to power wash the house one day and two weeks later came to mask the trim and began painting day one and finished day two and day three finalized the trim and other detailed work. I shopped around and could not believe the mark up of new shutters, $250-$350 a pair installed. I have 16 shutters on my home and they didn't even have the color we wanted. I called Spectrum Painting in Pompton Lakes, N.J. and received a callback the next day. I never thought about painting the shutters instead of replacing them. The price was very reasonable and we could choose any color we wanted. Approximately two weeks later, Gregory, from Spectrum showed up. This man was a magician with a paint brush. It changed the entire view of my home. I would recommend Spectrum to anyone asking. They are on time, professional people with a great work ethic and attitude. Job very well done.
