From the first meeting, measuring and estimate which was done without pressure to purchase to today's installation things were done without pressure total professionalism. When we contacted them, Dave was quick to respond and set up the appointment for an estimate. The day of the scheduled estimate he kept us updated to his arrival and came as scheduled. He explained the process and the various products we could choose from. He had samples for us an explained what options might work best considering our weather conditions etc. He presented us an estimate with no pressure for what we chose. The choice was simple and we signed the contract. He made us aware of the timeline etc which was not as issue. As per Dave's meeting and contract we were contacted about a week before installation and asked if a given day would fit our schedule. The day before the scheduled installation we were texted a reminder. The morning of the installation we were called about 30 minutes before the scheduled time of arrival. They arrived right on time. Wade and his guys (Edgar and Sean) went right to work. They were professional and extremely courteous as well as personable. They wore "booties" and had no problem with our friendly dogs. We found all the sales people to be pleasant and their offerings varied, but one stood out above the rest, and that was Window Spaces. A small, local company, Katie, the owner, came for the estimate. After measurements, and spending time understanding what we wanted, she provided several options, with various price points. She was patient, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and seemed focus on matching our wishes with our needs. We indicated we wanted quality products. She gave us a bid that included Hunter Douglas products, a Roman blind for the guest room and draperies from the Hunter Douglas owned drape manufacturer. Of the five bids we received, Katie's bid was both the lowest and had the highest quality products. In fact, we had a bid from a company that deals solely with Hunter Douglas and when I called to let him know we would be going with another company that also offered Hunter Douglas. He asked if I could share the bid. I said it was a couple of thousand less than his bid. He seemed surprised and doubtful, but I assured him the bid was very explicit and Window Spaces listed the specific products, fabrics and manufacturers. I didn't know if it was the motor or what. So naturally I reached out back to harmony for help. I called Caesar's number and it went to voicemail. He states in his voicemail that he won't listen to messages so he asks that you text him instead. So that's exactly what I did. He has yet to respond to me and that was about 2 weeks ago. So yes, the customer service will be great until they get your money and then they're done with you. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Find someone or a company that cares about their customers even after the fact that they received payment.

Hunter Douglas Roller Shades - Measurement Issues…read more We have owned Hunter Douglas shades in multiple homes and have always liked the quality of the products. This review is not about the shades themselves, but about the measurement and installation. We had previously worked with San Diego Shades and had a great experience, which makes this outcome especially disappointing. This time, instead of their technician, they sent the sales rep to do the measurements. All of the shades installed in our home were measured and cut slightly too small, leaving the wooden window frames visible on the sides when the shades are fully closed. While this may sound minor, it affects both the look and function of the shades. The issue is most noticeable in our bedroom, where we installed motorized room-darkening roller shades. Light still comes through the sides, which defeats the purpose of a room-darkening shade. I raised my concerns right after the upstairs bedroom installations, but the issue was dismissed with an explanation that didn't address the problem and did not and does not make sense. At the time, we were in the middle of multiple home projects, and I assumed I would eventually get used to them. I didn't -- and it continues to bother me every time I see them. When the downstairs shades were installed and had the same issue, I escalated the concern to a supervisor, and two of the cheaper shades were eventually replaced. Unfortunately, the bedroom shades were never corrected. Even now, the measurement issue is noticeable and frustrating. For a professional installation, I expected better attention to detail and follow-through. My advice: carefully review measurements and finished results before signing off.

Before approving the order, I asked for several basic details in writing, including the payment schedule, estimated production time, anticipated installation window, Pacific Shutters & Shades' workmanship warranty, and the Hunter Douglas manufacturer's warranty. I was told their payment terms required a 70% deposit, with the remaining balance due at installation. On a $10,000 proposal, that would have meant approximately $7,000 paid upfront. I asked whether they would consider reducing the deposit to 50%, with the remaining 50% due upon installation and completion, and whether they would waive the 3% credit card processing fee. I also specifically asked for Pacific Shutters & Shades' own workmanship/installation warranty because the information I had received only addressed the Hunter Douglas manufacturer's warranty. Rather than providing the requested workmanship warranty or continuing to discuss the payment terms, the company responded that they felt the project was not the right fit for their company and suggested that I use another provider. I was disappointed because I was prepared to move forward with the purchase. For a $10,000 custom window-covering project, I don't think it is unreasonable for a customer to want the payment terms, installation expectations, and workmanship warranty clearly documented before paying a substantial deposit.
