Sorry but this was one of the worst meals I've ever had. Ever. No high chairs for kids. The tables upstairs and outside were disgusting and coated in old sticky condiments and who knows what. The hot dog was fair. Burgers looked better than the dogs but we didn't order those. Chili cheese fries were not good. So much chili and like no cheese. However they really earned their one star with the fries, those that werent coated in the mess were crispy and good. Cashier asked me my order three or four times. Without exaggeration McDonald's would have been a huge upgrade. I definitely don't recommend, and wont return, ever, even with a craving for hotdogs. Better place right down the road. read more

Buy my windies at shop-rite , price is about $11 a pack . Good hot dog skin is on the tuff side (maybe cologen ?) very salty dog . Bought a pack 9/13/18 . It's seemed like they changed the recipe, taste was about the same but a heavy kick of corrander at the end ? Just wondering . My review is for the North end location not the address listed on this page. The service is so bad that I actually decided to make a yelp account and search windmill just to express my complaint. The "experienced" worker here has got my order wrong 3/3 times when I ask him for no lettuce and mayo in his head he must think, "this guy probably wants lettuce and mayo" the computer system is set up so that the cook can't see modifications so he is told what to make verbally. Whenever I want chili on my sandwich with an order of fries they make me chili fries. I once said to the kid, no lettuce no mayo literally 3 times, watched him say ok and report it to no one just to have my sandwich come out with lettuce and mayo. The newer workers here seem so frightened to do their just they probably hope no customers come in. I don't have any previous complaints about anything else on yelp but after getting my order wrong 3/3 times I felt the need to. They see also busy my last trip and were messing up every order people were waiting extended time for food. Long Branch would not be the same without Windmill. Perfect after a long walk in the beach or after getting a beer down the street!! My favorite things to get here are the chicken fingers with BBQ sauce and onion rings. Also their chili is unreal. The service is great too!! The guys really go out of their way, especially Shawn! Most hardworking guy ever, If he quit, the Windmill would shut down. I do wish they had a few more healthy options because I lived across the street and would eat here all the time at 2am when I was hungry while writing papers. But sometimes I would want something a bit healthier. They should add some stuff to their menus! read more

So there's the Stone Pony, Donovan's, Long Branch Pier, Asbury Park, Strollo's and of course the original Windmill. I am sure I left someone out but you get the point. All staples of what epitomizes growing up on the Jersey shore. Whenever I am in the neighborhood i am instantly drawn here. I am salivating thinking about the staple windmill hot dog and cheese fries. If you want down and dirty gourmet fast food you have to come here. Simply awesome. read more

Well to start off I hated that they had pots of sauerkraut on the counter the extras are also on the counter uncovered so I decided to have a hamburger. Well that was a huge mistake. The hamburger was so flat and just greasy with no taste. There wasn't even any taste to the onions or tomato. I would think twice before stopping. This was a late-night hang back in the day and not much has changed. This is some of the best late night grill food and cheese-fries in the world. The only competition might be Max's down the street. By the way, I don't give many five-star restaurant reviews, maybe for some places NYC or Paris. This is some of our favorite U.S. street food and a five-star for late night munchies. If I could give it 4.5 starts I would do so. The WindMill is a staple of Long Branch. Just went in there and ordered a burger and the guy making my burger wasn't wearing sanitation gloves as he touched all the lettuce and tomato and onions he put on my sandwich. I asked him why he wasn't wearing sanitation gloves like the other employees and he made some sort of excuse that they wear gloves to handle the money and take them off to make the food. Yet the other employees who were touching food all had gloves on. Turns out he was the manager! How gross! I will never eat there again! read more

Took my kids for the first time because Windmills have a certain Jersey shore mystique (or so I thought). Please spend a few bucks (owners) and clean it up inside. Pretty disgusting to have the air conditioner in the ceiling have a steady drip onto the hot dogs cooking below. hot dogs from other parts of grill tasted like they were cased with some sort of chemical.
