About a year ago, I applied for a job here. It was overnight stocking shelves, loading, and unloading trailers. Making sure the aisles were well stocked and nice looking. I have had extensive experience in stocking. My first job was doing exactly this at Target a long time ago. I worked at Target for years! I had the interview. Everything was going great until they told the hourly payment. $14 an hour. This is appalling! I made sure the person interviewing me knew about my past relatable job history. They knew. I negotiated a few dollars more per hour. They did not budge. Said "it's final". They did not even offer a shift differential increase for working at night. I told them, "unfortunately, I will have to turn this job down". Luckily, another job called me and offered me a job paying a lot more than what Winco Foods was willing to pay me. They did have some decent benefits for their employees, but the hourly pay was horrendous. Just hope you read this and know what to expect if you apply for a stocking job here. They probably pay less for working during the day. I hope in the future, Winco Foods increases their hourly pay for all their employees to a decent hourly rate, but I doubt it. If I knew the hourly rate before I applied, I would have never applied in the first place. read more

Just had the worst customer service experience ever! Tried to redeem a $3 manufacturer coupon for Tillamook ice cream, and the workers acted like I was scamming them. I pulled open the email from Tillamook showing them the process of how I got the coupon and the instructions for printing and redeeming, and the continued to say they wouldn't take it. When I asked how a customer was supposed to redeem the coupon, they just kept saying "sorry the manager's word is final." Upon leaving the store empty handed the employee then shouted after me "yeah, go ahead a throw a tantrum." Very am still floored at the unprofessional Ian and lack of exceptional service. I always loved winco. It's like the best place to go for great quality stuff at a cheap price. If you need anything but don't actually want to buy an entire pack, and know you won't use it until who knows when....well winco bulk food section is the best. Do keep in mind that thy only accept debit cards or cash. Like all winco, when you first step inside you see a bunch of junk food section. I'm pretty sure they purposely put this here so people can grab a bag, open it and eat while they shop. After that you will see the produce section and the bulk section. The produce is always super fresh. I don't think I ever bought something that is on the brink of rotting. The bulk food section is wonderful esp if you are trying to bulk up or lose weight. The variety of nuts is awesome! Also I usually buy my spices from here as well. Sometimes I'm missing certain spice to the recipe, and you definitely don't need whole jar cause...who knows when you'll need the spice again. I usually buy a small spoon full, pay $1 - 2 dollars for it and I would still have enough to remake the recipe a couple of times. Totally worth going to. read more

WinCo is awesome! We were so excited when they opened the store in Layton. We had been driving clear out to the Roy store for years. You will save money shopping here. Why are you still reading? That's all the info you need! :) Meat, cheese and milk are significantly less expensive here. (Now you can REALLY stop reading). The employees are super friendly and helpful...I guess that's what happens when it's an employee-owned company. We have come here for huge meat orders for church youth camps, and the butchers go out of their way to get us what we need for a great price. The bulk section is huh-yuuuuge. If they don't have it, you don't need it. The produce is always fresh and of high quality. Oh yeah, and they're open 24 hours a day, yet no crazy crowds like those "super centers" that aren't so super. A few things that WinCo does to keep their prices down: 1) You bag your own groceries. 2) They don't accept credit cards. If you really need that 2 gallon drum of mayo , 3,000 sliced pickles, or a 48 pack of Nutella, keep going to your "club store"...where you have to buy a membership to "save money." (Yeaaah...that makes sense) For everybody else, this is the place to go! read more

WinCo is amazing. If you've never been here there are a few things to know: 1) you gotta bag your own items. 2) cash, debit, EBT, and check only. (NO CREDIT CARDS!!!) 3) you will save money shopping here. 4) bulk section rocks. I always forget about this place, but every time I come I quickly fall in love. Almost everything is cheaper than other places. They also always have a really good selection of meats and just about everything else. It's setup a little different than other stores, but you'll figure it out quickly and the employees are always nice and can help. Normally when I come here, the people are super nice and warm and welcoming, and the selection is great. Overall, a great store. But today (2/6/23) at around 1:45 pm, I went to check out at register 11 and the cashier (Amy) seemed really stand off-ish. There was no greeting and the only thing she said was the total dollar amount that I owed. When she handed me my receipt, I said "Thank you very much." And she did not respond at all. She treated the customer before me the exact same way. I felt like we were being an inconvenience to her. read more

Overall WinCo in general is decent. They're all pretty much the same really so it doesn't so much matter which location. Utah is Utah and no real beer is allowed in stores...at least not yet, but I believe there will come a day when the government trusts me and I'll be able to buy real alcohol without big brother tracking me, and when that day comes, WinCo will be the place to buy it from as their beer section is huge! But I digress as I didn't come in to buy beer today, I came to get groceries. Overall, they have a wide selection, and I like going to WinCo. Here's my assessment: Pros: - wide aisles and large building overall so great for COVID-19 social distancing - fresh shitake mushrooms that are huge - fairly decent selection of vegetarian/vegan options, both frozen (Gardien, Boca, Quorn, Daiya) and fresh (Field Roast) - wide variety of veggies - large bulk candy and food selection - they carry a lot of generics that are priced low - you bag your own groceries so no more people putting your fruits and veggies on the bottom and your canned goods on top! This my go to grocery store! Always the best prices. Veggies are top notch and priced with market pricing.... not what store thinks you will pay. This means their prices vary each week on some items , but are always cheaper than the big 3. Love their meat selection. They have cuts of meat you can't find them at other stores. I have used the WINCO store brand and have found it to be as good as name brand. Store is clean and laid out well. Have ordered items ahead of time from the bakery and was really happy with items I ordered. The best thing about this store is their bulk foods. Huge selection and always great quality!! Try it out! Cute story: I had just moved to Eureka (the one in Northern California) and I was looking for a grocery store near my new home. Google search yielded a Winco a few miles away and away I went in search of a bunch of stuff to supply an empty kitchen. I had never heard of Winco before but when I got there I liked it immediately. They carry all kinds of staple products plus full bakery (Winco cinnamon rolls are great), great meat and produce departments. Prices were good, the store was clean, well-stocked and organized. I noticed there were lots of employees around re-stocking and doing whatever else they do and that's always a good sign. I did my shopping and was pretty stoked to have a good store close-by. It was also super entertaining watching the Humboldt locals as I explored the store. I don't have time to go into it here but Humboldt County in Northern California is pretty famous for its agricultural and herbal proclivities. Suffice it to say that life can be very liberal within the "emerald triangle." While I was going through the check-out line I was watching an olderish hippie-looking lady bagging her groceries using hand-woven (probably out of hemp) bags. I was beginning to notice some of the other differences between NorCal and Utah too. I must have looked confused (no one was bagging my stuff) because the guy behind me in line asks me "first time at Winco?" "Weird question" I thought. Is there some infrared Winco code imprint or secret knock lacking that gave it away? Turns out the guy was a Winco employee on his way through the line at the end of his shift and they can spot a rookie a mile away. He explained the Winco bag-your-own system and as an employee owned company, not paying for baggers makes the company more profitable. I actually like bagging my own groceries although sometimes it can be a lot of pressure when the line backs up behind me... He also told me what Winco stands for. Fast forward a few years we are back in Utah and we often shop at the Layton Winco. (I doubt they are going to change the name to add the letter "u"). A couple of weeks ago my wife had to do some shopping and was near Winco. To make this long story longer, she has an injured hip and was riding around the store in one of those motorized carts. That's fun. At checkout she could barely stand up to bag her groceries. The customer service manager (Amie I think, I wasn't there) not only came over and bagged up the stuff but also went outside with my wife to load the bags into her vehicle. Amazing products, amazing prices. I love getting groceries here! My wife and I go to Smith's often because it's just a little bit closer to our house, but every time we do our shopping here, we wonder why we would go anywhere else! Amazing prices that beat competitors most of the time. WinCo does a better job than any other grocery store I've been to at having good, fresh meals for purchase in the Deli area. The best part is how economical they are. I highly recommend their salads, and also their wraps. They are both delicious and a great deal. I usually get a wrap and they actually give you two wraps in one package. The first one always fills me plenty and I save the 2nd for the next day. It's great! One thing you'd never expect is their Sesame chicken, Teriyaki chicken, and Orange chicken are all absolutely delicious. Really impressive for a grocery store. One last thing WinCo does great is their Bulk Foods. The best bulk foods, bar none. Spices, grains, granolas, candy, trail mix, nuts, dog food/treats, the list goes on and on.... WinCo's prices are great. Most of the employees are pretty nice. I would give the place five stars except the women's bathroom is always flooded because people put feminine hygiene products down the toilet in the disabled bathroom. What is it to put a feminine hygiene receptacle or a trash can in that large cubicle? Literally a $5 trash can would save this company thousands of dollars in repairs every few months. Disabled people and people with children can have periods too. I put that suggestion on their kudos board because I couldn't find a suggestion box. I'd also suggest a suggestion box! read more

I have never had a problem with staff they have always been so nice today was very different someone from management was very rude and inconsiderate one it's definitely the holidays and people should be a lot nicer but also but costumers definitely don't need to be talked to the way she talked to me and I have never seen this lady before and hope she can treat her customers better or a lot of people will stop shopping there. read more

Love Winco! The fact that they are employee-owned shows in how the employees treat the customers. This grocery store has the cheapest prices for food! And the best feature is the bulk foods area. They have so many different varieties. My favorite part of the bulk foods is the spices section. It is said that you should replace your spices annually. One jar of spice costs at least $3. I can restock all my spices for under $5 with the spices in the bulk foods. I also like how you can bag your own groceries. I bag how I want the food to be so it is quicker when I unload at home. Tip: when you see a GREEN price tag on the shelf that means the item is discounted temporarily. read more

I love Winco! I was excited to check this out. This location is a new baby, opened just yesterday. This has all the familiar favorites you get at other locations, as well as a few new fun things, like in bulk. There's a big beer cave with stuff I haven't seen before. That was fun. It was definitely crowded, but it handled the numbers of shoppers quiet well. It also helps to be in good company...shoppers with manners. Check out was fast despite longer lines. It will be fun to go back when things cool off. That way I'll be able to see if they have anything else fun that I missed. read more

I crave a nice French bread with a good crust. Until recently Winco had the best since Albertsons changed to Fresh Market. The last 2 times, the loaf was overcooked and the last time I bought one around Xmas, the crust was good, but it tasted like the bread I made in my bread machine. I go to the Layton WinCo. I really like this store. It is clean and has what I need. The cashiers are so nice and friendly. Sadly today I was disappointed. A young man named Randall checked me out. He did not have a word to say. No Hi, nothing even when he handed me my receipt. He might of not even been there. Right now, when we get out so little, it would be nice to be spoken to. Sometimes the clerk is our only interaction with people for the day or week. I will shop there again but will try to avoid Randall....... read more
